Vinnie said he was glad that they didn't expect him to play the solos note for note because that would be boring for him. He didn't say that to demean Micheal's playing in any way. He's obviously a very talented player and has his own muse to follow.

of all guitar players to step into UFO for Schenker, Vinnie is absolutely the best! He has the ability to take Schenker's solos, play the main elements, add his own flair, all WITHOUT sacrificing the melody and feeling captured by Schenker originally! Truly brilliant! Vinnie also is tasteful enough not to over play...he could shred/blister every solo, but he only pulls the trigger when it adds to the dynamic.

you know what i think vinnie wont imitate the way mike do, coz he will be sounding like mike (of course), he is vinnie moore, so he wanted to sound vinnie moore, and all the solos came out is vins style, feeling and technique... the same thing to michael schenker, he will do hes own style and techniques because he is michael schenker.

Vinnie Moore will never be Michael Schenker, and Michael Schenker will never be Vinnie Moore either. It's an apples and oranges comparison. Both are great at what they do, but whoever the guitarist for UFO is will always be seen as a "replacement" because MS wrote most of those songs and recorded them originally.

Vinnie is an excellent player will bags of technical ability. He plays with lots of skill but not the feel, control and tone of Schenker. To me Vinnie is a master student and brilliant guitarist, however Schenker is a Natural Genius and god like. He plays from the soul not the text book. Mogg brought the best out of him. he will be remembered as a great riff and solo player with his own unique style, where as Vinnie will be remembered as a great replacement.

@05rsx Moore is much better with his solo stuff than the orignal songs he's written with UFO while schenker is the opposite. Schenker and UFO songwriting is much better than Moore and UFO. Also, Schenker solos are quite memorable while vinnie's albeit awesome don't have that memorable quality the schenkers' have. Anyway, I am glad vinnie is with them. They needed some "young" blood.

i'm agree with you, i'm an absolutely devoted fan of shcnker who i consider the greatest guitar player ever, but damn vinnie moore is absolutely amazing, and vinnie is making his own history in ufo and he is doing it damn good!!!!!!!

No matter what became of him,he can be forever proud of that Strangers In the Night album - it is the greatest guitar album ever imho.

Based on the recent footage of him that I've seen, "alive" is an exaggeration. Sorry it breaks my heart to say it but those June 2007 shows in the Bay area just looked like some dude noodling, not the cutting edge genius I want to remember Schenker as.

To me, the true Rock Bottom (SITN) is a guitar solo symphony that goes somewhere and says something and makes your fucking spirit SOAR. But Vinnie Moore and the recent Schenker versions are just pointless meandering and I don't like it.
