Look up the definition of theory if you don't believe me. And three, you don't "believe" in science. Look it up and you will find that models have failed numerous times to predict temperature change, always OVERESTIMATING. Stop quoting the IPCC by the way. Homer gets very close to a real interesting line of junk being pushed these days. Basically, it goes, "So if it gets colder, it's a sign of global warming. If it gets warmer, it's a sign of global warming." It makes no sense.

@GetRealPolitik Groening leans left? Have you ever watched any Simpsons episode ever? Why on earth would you think that the writers for the Simpsons are liberals? And it's clearly written to point out that if Homer Simpson can understand how insane it is to talk like we're destroying the world then why can't anyone else?

@r3d4uerb4ch; I've read and seen plenty of Groening's work. Also, I know from intuition + handy dandy Wikipedia that he identifies as liberal and contributes to Democrats. Nothing on him, that's just the facts.
I mentioned the megalomaniac rant by Bob at the end of the episode, running as GOP mayor, of which Burns is a member. Lisa, the environmentalist, smart liberal is nearly always right. I get the show is as much cultural as it is political, but you'd be blind not to see which way it leans.

If people would spend more time studying science and learning what global warming (perhaps better called "climate change" for the simpletons) really means, maybe the United States wouldn't be the leading pollution source on the planet. It's embarrassing being from a country that is known internationally as the least intelligent and most dangerous on the planet. Thanks, guys.

LOL, global warming is the only theory I know of that no matter what happens it "proves" it to be true. It's too hot, that's global warming, it's too cold, that's global warming....too bad the theory and the scientists that support it have fallen flat on their faces. Even an idiot like Homer can understand the how simple the flaws are in the theory.

I think it's funny how average people will believe whatever a scientist tells them without thinking for themselves. Sorry to say but you have already gone over that cliff in your mind, lol! Didn't realize scientists were Gods of some sort. Do you know the background of Einstein? He was one of those average people that you would have scoffed at in that time.

@Lazerjo2000 And since you brought up gravity, lets look at your assumption that gravity is a theory in relation to my original post. If at times objects didn't fall but ascended or even hung in mid air and scientists had to falsify their results to prove gravity exsits then yeah, you would be correct in saying that I would have doubts about it's authenticity. I love people like you who tend to foget that scientists at one point thought we were the center of the universe.

@gman2673 you obviously did not notice the sarcasm in my post and yes gravity is a theory, "Modern physics describes gravitation using the general theory of relativity, in which gravitation is a consequence of the curvature of spacetime which governs the motion of inertial objects"

@Lazerjo2000 and you obviously didn't notice the wording of the quote that you used either. Modern physics may describe gravitation USING the general theory of relativity, but it is in fact a law. Newton's law of gravity ring a bell? Just because you use a theory of something to describe something else, doesn't make the latter a theory. It simply means we don't know why it works and in turn need to use another realted theory to explain it. Good job in googling though :)

@Lazerjo2000 A scientific theory is a conceptual structure used to explain existing facts and predict new ones. Einstein's theories explained Newton's laws, they didn't cause them to be theories. "Scientific laws are considered established and universally applicable (to certain class of things or phenomenon under appropriate conditions) but not necessarily definitive."
