apparently youtube is full of pussies, the recoil would be manageable and there are NFA double barrel 12 Ga pistols so QUIT YOUR BITCHING YOU PUSSIFIED BASTARDS.....
I don't see the point in this gun other than the cool factor. You aren't going to get close to the power of a 45-70 rifle. The rifle powder in the 45-70 isn't going to be even close to fully burned when the round exits the gun. All you're going to get is a huge fireball and a hurt hand. Cool looking gun though. You might not hit anything but that fireball will scare the shit out of just about anything.
@sharpie443 I agree completely...it's just a novelty item. I'd take it a step further and say that the Derringer design itself is completely useless in today's world. One can carry a PPK or Ruger LCP and have much better firepower and accuracy.
I shoot one of these bas*ards ONCE. Rough with a .410 It is down right nasssssty with 45/70. Like trying to hold on to a stick of dynamite. I would not recommend it to a friend. YMMV
I like the Trail Boss. 44 magnum but as far as the Alaskan Brown bear goes their is no gun that is enough. The whole well placed shot thing is out the window if surprised. You can't react or run in the time it takes to kill you.
@Doyouknowhowmuchusuc They damn near do break your hand. I shot one on a bet and its just pure pain.Got a thirty pack of beer out of it so it was worth it.
This looks like the desert eagle of derringersLOL,Make everyone else look like their carrying a pee shoterLMAO. Does it have rilfing and is it accurate?
@kcl907 You have never seen an Alaskan brown 11 feet tall rip the top from a pickup truck to try to kill the driver that hit him at 50 miles per hour. It took three 12 gauge slugs to kill him. You guys down in the lower 48 don't have anything but cubs.
Alaskan survival, I'm assuming this is intended for brown bears? In that case you would be better off using it on yourself unless your plan is to scare the bear off by starting a forest fire from the burning powder that didn't add to the 45 70's velocity.
Smallest hand gun for brown bear is the 458 Casull but only if you can place the round well.
@theGrandMastaT you won't believe this, i went to Cabela's gun shop and saw one of these for $200, and a .22 with better capabilities for $90, really?
wow ive never seen a model like this with the different cal in each barrel. seems like a very good idea and a scary weapon for some1 to hide, both shots would kill you easy if they happen to miss a vital hit first time then follow up with a 4-10 shell. fuck punching a guy what has this in his sock!
@Janusha im not going to argue with you commie. criminals kill people with guns law abiding people use guns to hunt recreation self protection from criminals

I was watching another video of a derringer from the old west and laughed thinking to myself "What if there was one in 45-70" I just had a coughing fit watching this one.
its so hard to find 4 10 rounds where i live. i have an old 4 10 shotgun that my grandfather has its a fun little thing almost no kick and really light but no one makes ammo for it anymore. : (
You're both wrong (and acting like morons). It's called The Alaskan Survival Derringer. You might notice the 'Alaskan' part of it. That's cause in Alaska they have some big damn bears that can crush your skull like a grape. The 'survival' part comes from the ability of this gun to (hopefully) kill the bear before it can kill you. No, it's not for hunting. This would blow apart any small game you hit, if you even managed to hit it. It is impractical, but not useless or silly.
Yeah yeah they slap the word SURVIVAL on any product remotely to do with outdoors activities inorder to justify making and selling it. If you need this thing for survival then you need to plan your trips better. Killng a bear with a god damn derringer. Here is a tip for "surviving" bears... Stay the fuck away from them.
@Janusha Accidents happen, having something capable of killing a wide variety of game that doesn't take up a lot of space in a survival kit seems like good sense.
@Janusha So what your saying is that a light weight, easy to carry firearm that can accept multiple different types of ammunition that can be traded out between different firearms is not something that would be useful in a survival situation? I would assume that the fact that it can accept .410 shells would be a plus as you can generally hunt small to mid size game with a .410, the other ammo types im not to sure of. I think this would make a pretty good backpacking gun but thats just me
You'd better hope you hit what you're aiming at, that's the only way whatever it is will be hurting anywhere near as bad as you will. This isn't at the Nuclear hand grenade level but it's close! Just get a .45-70 Guide Gun if you have to have a light .45-70.
"survival" derringer... God damnit. How is everything survival. Its just a gun. They are for killing. Not surviving. Its not like its a hunting weapon.
@Janusha no its literally to take out camping to fend off wild animals or to hunt small game if need be. its just a more portable version of a survival rifle which is more practical for the small game aspect. it gives you the ability to shoot 2 different types of rounds in a fail proof reliable manner. no one would use a 2 shot pistol to murder someone, you use a typical handgun that you get off the streets with no serial number or paper trail, your not too sharp.
@chraw1983 iv shot a 45-70 lever action and it kicked like a mule so imagine all that power behind a smaller barrel and no bracing but your wrist. im feeling a broken wrist and a broken nose when it flys outa your hand.
@RadarGuidedVermin yea, but as far as i know you only get slower burn if you reload your own bullets and iv shot a 357. out of an 8 inch barrel then shot the same load from a 3 inch barrel and there was a bigger kick with the 3 inch.
@jake102293 Sure, because .357 rounds are loaded with quick-burning powder for short-barreled revolvers. By contrast, the 45-70 is a rifle cartridge, and charged accordingly.
@RadarGuidedVermin i can see that but you would think since it is a rifel round it would have more punch to it. The 45-70 is like a damn cannon my buddy had one and we had never shot it before other than shooting it in, we shot a deer with it and it was almost pointless there was hardly any meat left. Grant it that we were using hornady red tips.
@jake102293 The case length of the 45-70 is over 2 inches. That means in this 4 inch derringer, the bullet only has 2 inches to travel before it leaves the barrel. There is no way you're burning the complete 70 grain powder charge of the 45-70 in only 2 inches of barrel.
for me,this is dumb...45-70 in something weights 200 grams??? hell no ! If I'm hiking in Alaska wilderness,it wouldn't be hard for me to carry Marlin 45-70 lever around-low wight, sleek, fast and strong
I would be interesting to shoot the .45-70, starting with VERY mild loads. 5 grains of Red Dot, maybe. Then perhaps Trail Boss... Factory full-power loads would not be a good idea, imo...
not the first 45/70 i have see'n but as for these vids showing off the lil cannons i had yet to see the vid maker actaully shoot it.. my 45/70 sharps with an octogon 32 inch barrel loaded with a 405 grain still kicks like a Geotgia Mule...i think i like my wrists a bit more thank ya.
So if chased by a bear the 45-70 breaks your wrist and hits you in the head thereby knocking you out so you dont feel the pain of being devoured, how cool is that?
I fired a desert eagle 50 AE. once, the cartridges got reloaded, so the power was a bit lower. But, oh my god that thing did almost beat my face, how am I supposed to shoot
@GibsonLesJosh Now that you mention it, I think it might hurt like hell if it was fired. I used a .45-70 rifle once at a range and that had some massive kick. This doesnt have a stock so I imagine it would be like firing a sawed-off 12ga with just a pistol grip
@giausjulius4 I recently sold my M4. Too much of a hand cannon. It routinely caused my thumb to bleed, even though I had a firm grip on it. Wearing a shooting glove is absolutely essential. I also found that the .45 Schofield round was a much better round to shoot than the .45LC. It's a "short" version of the Colt round and has a smaller powder charge (less recoil). At short range, the velocity and impact are about the same. The .410 shotshell of choice for me was the Winchester PDX-1.
@inkey2 my neighbor's kids have everything you listed as illegal in Mass. Makes me glad my ancestors settled down here in south Louisiana (although I'd enjoy a summer home way up north from May to October)
A gun like that would fly right out of your hand if you fire it with a 45.70 round. It's a bad idea in my opinion especially in the hands of a testosterone motivated hand loader who wants to impress people with over loaded ammo.
Goody hell Id hate to hold on to that gun. I guess you would have to shoot light recoil reduced loads... I was shooting some factory "target" loads with a light bullet so i figured they wouldnt kick bad. Shooting them out of my 16+ pound sharps i was about ready to cry after 3 shots. Id hate to get one of those in this thing.
Im probably going to get hell for saying this but that is a freaking useless gun if there ever was one. 45-70 is a rifle cartridge. Id be shocked if you can even fire that thing without it flying out of your hand and smashing your front teeth out, much less actually hit anything.
@Aerophyrestorm Well it sure wouldnt be my first choice but hey its better than nothing. Although if i were to be in alaska and packing a gun it wouldnt be this. Probably be a good ol' Marlin Lever gun in .45-70
all you guys talking about how bad it would hurt to shoot this..... man up buttercup!

@JnDfilmz I'm already subbed to him :D

I would be interesting to shoot the .45-70, starting with VERY mild loads. 5 grains of Red Dot, maybe. Then perhaps Trail Boss... Factory full-power loads would not be a good idea, imo...
xzqzq 6 months ago
I just ask... WHY?
Testement117 6 months ago
This would be perfect for double tapping
bob15872 6 months ago
lol its the deagle in the derringer world
ObjectableApparatus 6 months ago
its a double barrel, but if you shoot the .45-70 first your not going to get the 410 next, your going to get a trip to A+E.
ciran22 6 months ago
Good luck holding on to the damn thing shooting that .45-70.
SergeiMosinJr 6 months ago
not the first 45/70 i have see'n but as for these vids showing off the lil cannons i had yet to see the vid maker actaully shoot it.. my 45/70 sharps with an octogon 32 inch barrel loaded with a 405 grain still kicks like a Geotgia Mule...i think i like my wrists a bit more thank ya.
kreeper88 6 months ago
Sooo, how much energy does the .45-70 have in that barrel?
VicariousReality7 6 months ago
45-70 is a nasty round.
L0GAN811 6 months ago
My hand hurts just watching this.
Cytacon 6 months ago 23
So if chased by a bear the 45-70 breaks your wrist and hits you in the head thereby knocking you out so you dont feel the pain of being devoured, how cool is that?

@rimfired its a life saver :D
MrDip02 5 months ago
@rimfired You shouldn't be walking in bear infested woods if you don't know how to properly fire your weapon. COMMON SENSE PEOPLE...

I fired a desert eagle 50 AE. once, the cartridges got reloaded, so the power was a bit lower. But, oh my god that thing did almost beat my face, how am I supposed to shoot
this beast ammo with such a small gun ?
Neeverseen 6 months ago
@Neeverseen It's designed for giving to people you hate to shoot.

Jesus Christ. That is the sickest derenger Ive ever seen. Definatly worth having if it can shoot SHOTGUN shells
Einkanstein 6 months ago
A shotgun shell in a small pistol!? Reminds me of the hybrid gun from call of Juarez
Roughdragon 6 months ago
looks like it would be useful as a flaregun with .410 flares
cloudycolacorp 7 months ago
I'm surprised they did not put the .45-70 on the bottom barrel. It must be a huge pain in the butt to fire, with that high bore axis.
evildude109 7 months ago
impressive
HCL991 7 months ago
dude that thing must have shiton recoil when you shoot that 45 70 lol
GibsonLesJosh 7 months ago
@GibsonLesJosh Now that you mention it, I think it might hurt like hell if it was fired. I used a .45-70 rifle once at a range and that had some massive kick. This doesnt have a stock so I imagine it would be like firing a sawed-off 12ga with just a pistol grip
giausjulius4 7 months ago
@giausjulius4 ive always wanted a sawed off 12 gauge pistol lol
GibsonLesJosh 7 months ago

I still want to see someone shoot that thing

Muzzle flash much?
They should chamber it in .500 S&W, or .270.
mikeb1444 7 months ago
A gun like that would fly right out of your hand if you fire it with a 45.70 round. It's a bad idea in my opinion especially in the hands of a testosterone motivated hand loader who wants to impress people with over loaded ammo.
fywacia 7 months ago
plz answer how much was this i couldnt find it on google
XTiiCxSpawnahawk 7 months ago
Goody hell Id hate to hold on to that gun. I guess you would have to shoot light recoil reduced loads... I was shooting some factory "target" loads with a light bullet so i figured they wouldnt kick bad. Shooting them out of my 16+ pound sharps i was about ready to cry after 3 shots. Id hate to get one of those in this thing.
snowboarddude117 7 months ago
good but shoot it please !?
wt31313 7 months ago
Im probably going to get hell for saying this but that is a freaking useless gun if there ever was one. 45-70 is a rifle cartridge. Id be shocked if you can even fire that thing without it flying out of your hand and smashing your front teeth out, much less actually hit anything.
Aerophyrestorm 7 months ago
@Aerophyrestorm Well it sure wouldnt be my first choice but hey its better than nothing. Although if i were to be in alaska and packing a gun it wouldnt be this. Probably be a good ol' Marlin Lever gun in .45-70
