I thought I saw an F-104. I had no idea there were any of them in Vietnam. I guess we threw every plane we had in the inventory, at that time, into battle over there. It's amazing to see that footage. I wouldn't be born until December of that year, and my Dad was flying F-100's out of Danang.
Most of the Video was filmed at Chu Lai with mostly A4C Aircraft and an AM2 taxiiway and runway. Timeline 5:18 to 8:58 was filmed at Danang on Oct. 3, 1965, our last day in country. We flew out of Chu Lai on Marine C130 to Danang at 0500 in the morning. We waited up in Danang all day for a Air Force KC135 for our transport back to the World (CONUS). That was a Happy Day. Sorry, but this is not in any Chronological Order. Just Raw Film with a music background.
i was also at chulai/also with mag13, i was ncoic of staff/omess- COL RASH WAS OUR CO AT THAT TIME. THERE WAS A PRINTED BOOK OG MAG13 AT CHULAI/ I'AM NOT SHURE IF I'AM THE FEW WHO HAS THE PHOTO BOOK OF OUR MAG 13 FORMER CPL STATON SEMPER FI
@stupidrider53 Two A4E Skyhawks were out on a bombing mission at night and were being controlled by Ground Station. GCBS ( Ground Control Bombing System.) dropped the bombs of both aircraft. The system had no idea that the one Aircraft was over the second aircraft. The bombed was not armed when it hit the second aircraft. No one was hurt, but the aircraft had to be sent up to Japan for O & R ( Overhaul and Repair ) The A4E was less than a year old when this incident happened in Summer 65

The Visitor to the Flight Line at timeline starting at 3:47 to 4:22 is none other than Former Vice President and President Richard Milhous Nixon . He was a private citizen at this time. He said that he was a lawyer in New York City. This walkby took place in late August or early September 1965.

Don't see many Vietnam era film reels set to 80's and 90's pop music - interesting choice to say the least.
You certainly were in the right place at the right time to film history, good job.

wow,a lot of variety in the aircraft there... B-57's to C-47s to EC123 to F4 Phantoms... love it, not the joker in white shirt ....

I don't think this is Chu Lai. I don't recall the U S Air Force being in Chu Lai.
