  • mathematically stu Prolly woudn't last long....... luck and prolly a lot of coin toss all-ins wood decimate even the pros... he played in the golden age.... back when them guys colluded in cash games,,,,, and fleeced tourist and rich hollywood folk... but in tourneys it was harder to collude...... unless u staked a certain player..... just my opinion

  • yes the fields are larger these days, full to bursting with Donks chasing the Moneymaker Rainbow LoL, there are a hardcore of talented professionals, online players playing live and really good amateurs, apporx 500-1000 strong, who usually have played for many years, but the rest of the 7000-8000 thousand players CANT play to save their lives!!!, I think Stuey would make it to the final table, no problems.

  • 1981 WSOP Main Event had 75 entrants. The 2011 WSOP Main Event had 6,865 entrants. I'm sure Stu Ungar was a brilliant poker player but the fact is he would have a damned hard time getting three bracelets in this day and age.

  • Good clip ... Perry Green was (supposedly) a VERY solid player for a very long time.

An even better clip is Ungars win @ the 1980 WSOP beating Doyle ... hard to get that one though. :)

  • 75 total players...lol. now it's closer to 7500.

  • they still said things like "he brought it in", and "i'll see you're raise".

  • Steuy was Rarely beaten at Gin Rummy, he was an absolute Savant at the Game and a genuine Genius, Oklahoma Johnny Hale beat Stuey at Gin at least once...such an amazing era for cardplaying, 60's, 70's and 80's, would have loved to see it :)

  • @memyselfandeye3 yeah, didn't they stop the gin games because nobody could beat stu? pretty sure it's true.

  • @1skullduggery Its widely said that that is the case, he was so successful and deadly that casino owners didnt want him playing in Gin Tourneys b'cus of his amazing ablitites and they feared a distinct lack of action in their tourneys....Stuey was so Dominating and Prolific, he was a true genius, your right 1Skullduggery, wish he was still with us, just imagine how Great he would be now......:)

  • i would like to play perry green in a hu SNG =)

  • @Taroxus i'd like to play u in a hu SNG. With all respect... i don't know u, but i can assume u a moron by ur comment. Probably it's the only hand u've seen played by Perry Green and u call him a donk?!?!? U the donk AHAHAHAHA however lot of fishes like u on the net

  • @asintotele :)

  • methhhh, ineed methhhh

  • i didnt know they had pocket cams then

  • the thing i like most about stu ungar is absolutely nobody can beat him at gin rummy.

  • Best ever.

    "Fuggedabutit, baby."

  • LOLOLOL -take a look at the money at the table. . . then theres like only 20 pieces. .

but still very important history :)

  • "you have to be real lucky in key situations"

  • is that a young Mike Sexton accouncing?

  • He was a genius at poker, but a miserable failure at life.

  • Chopping up the prize money right there and then...Man the 80's ruled!!!!

  • Stu Ungar, Great, Greater, GREATEST. R.I.P Stuey.

  • The announcer says "...two years in a row, what are the odds on that winning it"

Stuey reply's. "It's awful big" hahaha that's hilarious. 'cause he was right.

  • Stu looks so cool and calm.

  • @morbed You would be also if you used coke.

  • @huntco7106

    Haha, Lets have a 1 on 1 match my FTP ID = zalstun1722 =D

    And yeah

  • long live STUEY

  • dam he got so many chips

  • Whatever happened to Perry Green ??

  • @johnnycheck99 He still plays, he came in 8th at the 5000 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better event at the 2010 WSOP

  • @mS28811 died @1998 Nov 22

  • @mS28811 Stu alive?? u r insane?

  • stu's skills are so fucking legendary, instead of people saying he was the bobby fisher of poker, they say bobby fisher was the stu ungar of chess

  • and a child should lead em...... a 27 year old is hardly a child

  • stu proved he was great by doing what ali did,He won the title against great players in two different generations

  • how could you possibly say durr and Stuey in the same sentence. Stuey was the best card player ever.

  • @Stumpy109 you can't

  • @Stumpy109 dwans the greatest cash game player in the world probably ever so you can definitley put those two names in the same sentence.

  • @idalgleish87 only if that sentence explains how easy stu defeated tom. look man why don't you just get it? nobody can nail this guy, what is your problem? are you blind or somthing? do you think sitting next to doyle brunson, amarillo slim, johnny moss at the same final table in wsop 1980 beating them like they are nothing is average? how we'll does tom dwan do against doyle brunson alone? you can't compare anyone with someone that destroyed every single person that was once called a legend

  • @dannyoo2 Your comment is full of true, now you see many people talking that in our modern era Stu would be just an average poker player, but that is a big fat lie!!

Take a look on his duel with Brunson, a guy considererd a legend, a guy who can bluff even the biggest poker estar in nowdays, and he just got owned by Stu like if he was a girl!

  • stuey looks very confident and comfortable at the table, intimidating definately. no doubt hed do just fine against todays best like durrr, ivey and antonius. u can just sense it if u watch closely

  • stu the best RIP

  • Stu is kinda an asshole to the guy, "how could you have a flush, how could you have a flush?" still cool though

  • Stuey would crush anyone heads up sober and still smash on most blown out of his mind. He is a genius and it is a shame he's dead. RIP Stu

  • stu ungar was very youthful looking thats why he was nicknamed " the kid", he was the greatest card player of all time, and would decimate the opposition....

  • Lol i thought he was a girl o.O

  • lol is the runner up a spokesperson for the horsehoe lol. he's got the hat on too

  • no matter wha year or era stu ungar played in, he would rule the roost! go stuey!!!

  • u talk bullshit my friend

  • For all of you doubting Stuey's prowess with cards, when he won the 1980 WSOP he had played no limit holdem for the first time in his life in the tournament. He had never played no limit holdem before...

  • Much like Phil Ivey coming into the 2-7 triple this year and winning it, having played it only a few times

  • he won the 2-7 single draw and the triple draw variation is played in bobbys room all the time. 2-7 is essentially a pure poker game, all reads and bluffs which is why only great players win it. it is the only pure poker game left

  • lol 75 players

  • I think I heard one of Doyle's wins had 23 players or something around there... it's like a sit-and-go these days

  • you know he just won his 2nd main event hes healthy 27 rich and his old lady rushed over to kiss him top of the world.then i see him rubbing his nose .wrecked everything over cocaine such a tragedy

  • I am not sure your comment is relevant here. If you are talking about the guys in the video saying they are "old school", then perhaps you should learn Stu Ungar was the best of all time, and he would probably still be the best if he had to play against today's players.

  • lol ..75 players in winning a title , today its over 2000 players that sign up to play , , The players today are fearless and better. i watch old games many players back in the day surrender to players with reputation, And they play ABC poker ,which means their hands were easy to read

A old school player vs today player , if my house was on the line to be save ,give me the today player.

Even old pro's outhere saying they have to adjust and learn a thing or 2 from net players.

  • haha ur a fuckin fag, u dont see much internet faggots with bracelets...its all the ol pros with the bracelets u faggot ass bitch, i bet if doyle or negraneau faced u heads up they would eat u up and make u eat their own shit u faggot ass bitch

  • You F.N IDIOT, Negraneau is part of how today net player is , back in Doyle day players like negraneau would be frown upon, because he plays all sorts of hands and DON'T follow the books of playing only the big hands..

today net players are big name young players that wins bracelet, they play all sorts of hands and many go all in with nothing and push you off a hand.

if you go back and read my text, i was talking about old school players of doyle age who had to adjust their game.

  • Its obvious you have a IQ of tool , First off clown! i know i am dealing with a loser/moron since your homepage is full of wrestling , and have the nerve to call me or anyone gay, when you have the ROCK poster up like some TEENAGE GIRL.

not healthy at 21 to be watching naked men in underwear roll around on the floor doing something fake.

Now run along ..you have been terminated

  • yes you can :D

  • do you always just curse like a 9 year old kid ?

learn to communicate first, then you can ask for people to hear your opinions...

  • actually stu ungar stood out in his time for playing EVERY hand, he was quite similar to todays net player. Very aggressive, and preyed upon weakness. Whenever he was in a big pot he had the best hand though.

A lot of similarities have been drawn between him and Durrrr.

You could say Ungar was way before his time.

  • hey ! iam NOT saying he wasn't a great player , i was more talking more about the competion back then , they were scared before they sit at the table , Today players want to get involve with the PRO'S to show that they got game, thats why the net players are picking up they share of bracelets .

But you must admit stu suck out more times than a fluffer at a porn shoot.

  • i agree the competition probably wasn't particularly strong, or at least not as aggressive. However, you have to adapt to whatever style you play against. I think the great players are great adapters, and Stu proved that by switching from Gin Rummy to hold em with no trouble

  • There are far more net players which is why they are picking up a good number of bracelets.

Regardless, all of the guys these days have read plenty of books, internet articles, watched training videos, discussed on internet forums, etc. Knowledge is power and obviously the competition has gotten better and will continue to get better. However, without these resources many of these players would not be very good players.

  • sorry i have to point out that your way out of your depth with your argument. Negreanu plays small ball, stuey virtually invented small ball, he was years ahead of his time. Ask any LAG player from negreanu to helmuth to black who they observed and they will tell you, the kid. As for internet players yes some of them are good but you cant beat a good live player.

  • Thats the dumbest thing ever , Where you think this so call small ball poker came from ..THE INTERNET, And NO! negreanu didn't INVENT it , there is nothing to invent , what it is... you try to see as many flops as possible without commiting alot of chips.

i have always said regardless of how much the blinds are , dont let people like a negreanu see the flop cheap .If the total pot is 600 i say raise your big hands 8 to 10k , if he wants to see the flop with his small cards let him PAY.

  • lol you don't know poker... i have played against big name players, and this is one of the reasons they have a huge advantage... weak players betting a lot to scare them... when if you bet 4 times the big blind or raise him (if he bet 1k you raise 3k more) he's gotta fold most of the times.... if you raise a lot or bet a lot into him, he will get payed of way more than a normal player if he has a big pair, and will also be able to get out cheap if he has nothing.... really dumb strategy.

  • @weefeatures I agree, but you mean AHEAD of his time...

  • @madzion50 ... wrestling is a science dude.. and calling wrestling fake just makes you a moron.

  • @Rassamdul wrestling is fake

  • @Rassamdul a science with half naked men...

  • @hubertandclyde dude you clearly dont know anything about show wrestling, so please stfu

  • @Rassamdul One of the highest rated comments is about how wrestling is about half naked men in there underwear doing fake stunts. More people agree with my side than yours. Wrestling is a science, just like ballet is a science. You can't disagree with that. Yes wrestling takes a lot of technical aspects, but the whole 'storyline' has been written. It is basically soap opera for men. You sir, watch a male soap opera, and you can NOT refute that.

  • @madzion50 * an IQ

  • @madzion50 lmao

  • @madzion50 that's a good lil speech but who the hell were you talkin to lol

  • fucking champion

  • Best player in history!!!!!!!!!

  • Stueys the man.

  • in 1997 after flop Stu had 15% to win, 62% for a split and 23% lose... best poker, gin player and genius with gr8 memory and talant in math wodnt know that???? he entered 30 big tournaments and won 10 of them.... Hellmuth or Ivey or Brunson or others can do that????

  • Yeah, Stu Ungar, what a donkey in 1997. Having a 5-1 chip lead, going all in with the weak hand of top pair and a straight draw, heads-up. He couldn't win any other way other than sucking out.

  • i dont know many poker superstars that have an accomplishment list like his, then after a 16 year crazy binge with things like a 1.5 million dollar string of horse race bets and excessive partying, for him to come back and do what he did in 1997 he gets nothing but pure respect from me.

  • @Nokternus420 the field in 97 world series was probably only a few hundred people.

  • Lol, you are critiquing the greatest poker player who has ever lived.

  • No matter who it is there always has to be someone who hates on the best. Ungar was a great player. Every great player lives on suck outs as well as their skill of the game. Look at Brunson's lucky hand, 10-2 is trash but he won twice by making a hand with it. Lighten up.

  • "the weak hand of top pair HU" lmao what an idiot

  • lol look what he does at the beginning of the interview. the coolest junky ever. rip.

  • ahhh Stuey, you're a legend babyyyyyy
