  • 'hmmm who the hell are these'

    *talk talk talk*

    'wth are they talking about'

Always nice talking to you jacob.

    'mm that's nice'

    *5 minutes later*

    O.O WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • I remember thinking how creepy it was when MIB said he "just ate." I assumed that meant he had just finished killing someone. That, or Jacob is mocking him, knowing that (in the form that he is) he is unable to eat.

  • EPIC SCENE. I think that two hundred years from now, they'll remember this like we do for dante's divine commedy or shakespears' amleto

  • @sonsysuperior Except the conflict that defines the relationship is utter crap.

  • jacob aint ugly, dude is fffffffugly

  • when I first saw this scene, I was like, "Wha......?" and I saw that statue and I was like "HOLY SHIT WTF JUST HAPPENED?!?!?!"

  • i was told that jack and sawyer hav the same convo and jack is like jacob and sawyer like the nemesis and that sawyer becomes the smoke and jack like jacob is what i heard, i saw the end nd obvi wsnt true

  • @darthkazden jack and locke

  • Def one of the best scenes in lost, shame they didint do more with these two characters or show a bit more of the islands history i.e showing the building of the statue,

  • damn it I miss Lost.

  • "You have any idea how badly I want to fuck you?"

    "Yes."

Lawl Jimmy Kimmel ruined this scene for me -__-!

  • So is the ship outthere the Black Rock? I thought the Black Rock came at night in a wild hurricane/thunderstorm with huge waves hitting the head of the statue. It does not seem to be bad weather in this clip...or the beginning of it...

  • @sinned1976 Read Lostpedia. It saids ''Jacob and the Man in Black met on the beach adjacent to the statue, watching as the Black Rock drew near the Island. The statue was destroyed later that same night when a massive storm blew in, slamming the Black Rock into the head of the statue by an enormous wave over 200ft in height and depositing the vessel deep in the jungle. The statue was almost completely destroyed, leaving only the base and a single foot behind''

  • hahaha, Lucifer and War from Supernatural. Funny to see them when they're not playing "evil"

  • People who dislike this clip are from MIB's team...

  • i remember watching this in the early hours of the morn. i'd stayed up most night and watched lost and when i saw this scene i was like 'oh great more characters' but as soon as he said jacob i was like WOW!!!! fucking great scene!

  • I really wish we had more scenes of these two actors together. I know we get some stuff with MIB as Locke but we needed more of the origonal MIB. He and Jacob had great chemistry and worked together so well on screen.

  • This scene was POINTLESS as the people on flight 815 have no way of knowing about this scene. SO ITS POINTLESS. The writers said it them selves "character development, the whole show is about the survivors on flight oceanic 815". THE LAST EPISODE revealed it was always about the characters on flight 815 SO WHATS THE POINT IN SHOWING THIS SCENE it was a good scene great acting but in the end pointless. Jacob controlled the island, his way his rules it tied in with Jacks story, but Jack wasnt there

  • @UmakeMeSYK It was hardly pointless. It setup the main conflict for Season 6 and also setup the resolution to a lot of the mysteries of the show which tied into the conflict between Jacob and his Brother the Man In Black.

  • @UmakeMeSYK This scene has great effect on our characters. The question then becomes 'is it important enough to actually show the scene or should we just have a character verbally tell it to one of our characters', and as you said, it was definitely something I'd rather see with my eyes as it played out than have heard it and visualized it in my head.

  • I swear the first time I saw this scene, it didnt make any sense. I was like who are these guys and what da hell are they talking about

  • This is by far the most epic opening to a finale ever..I just wish the MIB had more presence on Lost in his own body

  • @Niki166 "Jacob's Theme"

  • @dockecj Thanks mate, the music really adds to the scene, makes you realise how important these 2 characters + the statue where even though we still don't know its full purpose

  • @dockecj Mmm no, it is not Jacob's theme... Jacob's theme aka The Tangled Web is not the one heard at 1:51 till the end of the video.. I'd like to know what song is that anyway.. :S but it's not Jacob's theme...

  • does anyone know what the song is called from 1:51 till 2:04?

  • This is a great standalone scene, but in hindsight this was the beginning of the show's ultimate decline

  • Why would MiB feel annoyed about people coming to the island if he wants to leave? (since he needs to get the people to kill Jacob before he can leave)

  • best scene, worst ending

  • @kavourakos If you mean the series finale then I wholeheartedly agree. If you mean the end of "The Incident" then I must disagree.

  • @theSuperMetroid ye i mean the series finale was fail

  • @kavourakos Yeah, I mean what were the flash sideways anyway? I thought it was an alternate reality they created where they really did change history. But now apparently its just purgatory? So why should we care? Why is it important to watch this? How does it tie in to the island? Not that the island story was any better. I still don't understand why the MIB was so bad when all he wanted to do was leave. And Jacob did absolutely nothing to help. The whole thing just sucked

  • He is known in the offical casting call as Samuel?

and why does we never get a name, then? We don't even get a name in Jacob and his episode... it wouldn't take away the mystery to let us know his name. Jacob was very mystical even tough we did know his name.

The series are over, but we never got his name...

  • @Arawanach because a bit of mystery makes evrything a bit more exciting.. besides, he's the man in black - the smoke monster - the nemisis, they are all good

  • @FrenzyTank

sure, but Jacob still seems a mystery to me, even tough we got his name

  • Does anyone else think Jacob is attractive?

  • @TiggerRah

    no

  • @bigfisher42 ouch!

  • there were more ships because when jacob and the man in black were on the beach the boat was not far off shore. The black rock came in a storm that destroyed the statue. so many many people visited the island and were candidates but the same thing played out time and time agian the mib eventualy killed all the people or they killed eachother but the man in black could never succeed in killing jacob.

  • This scene is freaking awesome!!!!

  • @ENOCHwithaGLOCK The beginning of Season 5 sucks but it picks up momentum at the end when they go back to 1977 Dharmaville and Locke tries to bring everyone back to the island and fails (this happens in episode 7 i think, and it's one of the best episodes of the show as far as I'm concerned). It's a lot like Season 3 in the regard. But you'll want to stop watching the show after that. Seasons 2-5 all run together smoothly and are very well done. Season 6 just feels tacked on and lame. It sucks

  • Comment removed

  • @ENOCHwithaGLOCK I thought it was a great idea but they abandoned it too soon/didn't do enough with it. That really was their golden opportunity to answer as many questions as possible but they blew it. As it was, I enjoyed seeing Sawyer as a great responsible leader and him trying to save everyone while Jack was this egomaniac who thought he and he alone could save everyone and he was willing to risk killing everyone to do it in with a reckless, half assed plan.(interesting role reversal there)

  • "They come, they fight, they destroy, the corrupt. It always ends the same"

    That's what Mother tells them.

  • Do you know how badly I want to counsel you right now?

  • What is actually the thing that ends only once? Can it be the escape of the MIB from the island?

  • @palindrome06

    No. Human behavior.

"They come, fight they destroy, they corrupt, it always ends the same.

    - It only ends once. Anything that happens before that, is just progress."

So one day, when humans come to the island it won't end in violence.

  • im with the MIB band

  • I have more sympathy now for MIB after last night. I know understand why he's been doing what he's doing. I don't think MIB is as evil as some claim, or Jacob is as good as he's portrayed. They both have their bad qualities.

  • Brothers Killing Brothers D=

  • that sentence when he said they come, fight, they destroy, they corrupt, it always ends the same, he got that from their "mom"

  • really great to rewatch this clip after seeing "across the sea"

  • Nice to meet you Jacob!!!!

  • I'm thinking this is a likely ending for lost. Only the replacements to jacob/mib instead.. showing us that it's going to start all over

  • that isnt neccessarily the Black Rock. Jacob said he'd brought many, many people to the island. This could just be a different group. Even the woman on the Across the Sea sneak peek said she'd come on a ship. So that'd explain the fact that the Black Rock crashed at night, and its day time here.

  • erm. where's the music?

  • sawyer and jack ;)

  • Just epic

  • Its a little ironic that the actor who plays Jacob, Mark Pellegrino. on supernatural he plays Lucifer =P

  • One of the best scenes of Lost!

"Any idea how badly I wanna kill you?"

    "Yes"

"One of these days I'm gonna find a loophole my friend"

"When you do I'll be waiting"

Oooooo... so intense!! and then the wide shot of the statue.

  • i just love jacob's manner of factly "yes" after mib says 'do you know how badly i want to kill you?' so glib.

  • ya know jacob reminds me of myself in wich he tries to prove man in black wrong and man in black relly wants him dead. In my case, man in black is my history teacher.

  • @bw01a what are you even talking about?? When was that decided???

  • @ 1:29 MIB says "were going to find a loophole my friend"? listen.

    Whos we?

  • Wow, some of you guys are real dumb!

"the black rock comes at night, this is day"

Do yi think, mabey, just mabey, later on that day it will become night?

I duno about you guys, but where I live when I get up in the morning it's light outside, and then, about 12 hours later, it gets dark. Spooky huh?

    Fucksake

  • @norfskate Its not the first time we have seen some fucked up time shit

  • @norfskate the island is slightly ahead of time. Kind of like when the doctor from the freighter got washed up before he was thrown overboard.

  • @norfskate if you watched the dam richard episode, the black rock is in a storm while its nighttime, then they see the island then they crash. if they were just parked out that far from the island, dont you think they would land or get to shore before the storm? you think after 12 hours or more of just being ported there, they are going to wait for a storm to hit and suddenly "I SEE LAND!!" and crash into the statue?

  • IM not sure if many people noticed this but he said "some day were going to find a loophole" not im going to find a loophole, so who his mib with?

  • @t1billups wasn't there an episode on season 6 that explains it?

  • Waite why did jacob ask why he wated to kill him right after richared trys but he knows before hand.

  • because he's trying to get richard to think about what he's doing. he says it to richard later in the episode, he wants people to konw whats right and wrong without him having to tell them

  • i think that Jacob knew everything about Richard..his purpose from the beggining was that richard would "work" for him but as he says:" its meningless if he has to force anyone to do anything..", if u notice, its like he leads the discussion to a point there richard says: "if u dont setp in, he will" and Jacob pretends to be thinking... :)

  • MIB is pretty hot....

  • omg thank you i thought i was the only one who thought so :]

  • I confirm, this is not the black rock;

  • Not the same ship, Jacob said many came before u (refering to Richard) so I assume this was the first ship of many to come to the island.

  • this is the black rock. it has already been confirmed by the the writers in a podcast.

  • the black rock came during night and broke the statue when a huge wave threw it into the island.

that boat is not the black rock

  • Do you have any idea how badly I wanna kill you? Yes.

    lol gotta love that quote

  • after watching Episode 9 from season 6, I came back to watch this, and now I can understand this part of the story!!

    (they come destroy, corrupt....)

If you really wanna understand lost... start watching from season 6 to 1!

  • And this comment is totally irrelevant but...

MIB/Esau/whatever the hell we're calling him is sexy as hell.

  • The creators said the statue was Tawaret.. but I highly doubt. It has nothing from that Egyptian god.

This statue doesn't look like having a hippopotamus head, arms and legs of a lion, the back and tail of a crocodile, the breasts and stomach of a pregnant woman, and the object in its hands doesn't look like the one Tawaret carries at all.

If I had to bet it'd be on Sobek (crocodile head and man's body) but... if they said it is Tawaret, who am I argue about it.. lol

  • this scene is a prelude to the latest episode! Richard came on that ship. he is old.

  • is this not the greatest scene of lost? Or if nothing else, prlly the most provocative scene of lost since it is the first time the show personifies the islands powers in the form of 2 ppl.

  • @TheSlothook

It was a pretty cool scene. One of my favorites int he series.

  • I actually don't think thats the same ship richard came on. In the newest episode the ship is in a storm when coming to the island. This ship is not.

Remember it is the 1800's so the only way to really travel internationally is by boat. So that could be anyones boat.

  • Same here mate, richards boat came at night and it was a storm, this boat comes at day and its sunny...no reason for being the same boat´..

  • @greken145 It makes simple sense about the boat coming at day and it's sunny but if you look real close at 1:08 Jacob looks up as if he is checking out the weather, does it not?

  • they wear exactly the same clothes only colour changes

  • why does jacob get to leave the island to find others to come to the island?

  • Its jacod trying to find replacements. He has tried for many years. This time he is closer than ever, with the guys on Oceanic.

  • it does seem like this scene represents the only true explanation to the source of the island's mystecism. Still.. you can't gather any info off this scene by itself because it still isn't clear whos good and whos bad...or whether or not they are pawns to yet another pupet master or they themselves are like the gods.

  • Its a Game. If he wanted to "kill him" why does he have to wait for a "loophole"? There are "rules" they are playing by. Jacob's Touch which are "gifts" are like claiming pieces.

I am not sure what the game is all about, but I am guessing the Island is a "door" of some kind to other universes or realities and that free will apart from the Island is an illusion.

Jacob and the MIB are probably brothers or are involved in a certain game to see who will get off the Island and who will remain.

  • The best scene in LOST so far! The conversation is so cryptic. Especially when Jacob says "it only ends once and anything happens before is just progress". But once their conversation is fully understood, I think that's going to be the main plot of LOST.

  • it's probably the most important lost scene, maybe tied with the actual plane crash. And it's a great scene, but it probably isn't the best.

  • TEAM JACOB

  • I am writing a YouTube song for every episode in Lost season six. I call it song-blogging. See the whole playlist at my "rlaist" YouTube channel! Subscribe for regular updates! Namaste.

  • This scence was fucking epic.

  • I think they are Jacob and Esau

  • @godsliar Ha! I would LOL to myself for about ten seconds, then cry.

  • can you imagine if the last episode was just black screen and rolling words telling us all the answers?!

  • @colour757 that would be pretty retarded

  • @colour757

It would be rather Hurley asking questions and Jacob answering them in one of the Dharma stations.

  • @colour757 it would be the biggest joke for months

  • @colour757 i'd be pissed lol

  • Could the ship be the black rock?

  • @colour757 definitely yes

  • Comment removed

  • I think that he became smoke monster in some way with Jacob. I'm not sure but maybe he got punished for something. Perhaps it has something to do with the ship. Since he wants to get away from the island that badly, and Jacob won't let him ( like ben wont let Juliet leave ) he wants to kill him. :)

  • @Jothola123 no i think that the smoke monster is trapped on the island and is sort of like a servent to the island like a genie or like an angel of God. If you have kept up with season six you'll see that while imitating lock he showed Sawyer one of the Jacobs caves and kicked the rock off of the weight scale, which shows that he lost in the beginning to Jacob because he had a lighter rock probably meaning that because of that, Jacob became the anointed one of the island.

  • It an example of the balance between good an evil.

Black rock (Evil) and White rock (Good).

MIB throws the White rock into the ocean because he believes Jacob (good) is dead. So it tips the scale in favour of the Black rock aKa Evil.

  • @Maca68 wow. I never noticed that. good call.

  • I agree with you. He's bad and thinks that humans are bad while Jacob thinks that mistakes are part of progress. And now MIB/Smokey/Flocke contaminates everyone: Claire, Sayid and he already contaminated Rousseau before or maybe Rousseau's companions and killed because he doesnt believe in men - that's also the idea of men being the fall or the hope of our world!

  • The man in the black shirt is the Smoke monster, it is easy to realize after the season 6 begining. It is due to the concept that the Smoke monster was disguised as Locke and told Ben to kill Jacob.

Also, the man in the black shirt said he wanted to cheat death, and somehow, he has by taking the form of dead people.

    It's really hard to explain.

I really wonder how he became a Smoke monster though.

  • Well the exec. producers said that the monster is as old as the island itself. I'm not sure however.

  • he was traped in the cabin while seasons 1 2 5 usin christians body thats y the black ash was round the cabin in the man behind the curtain 2 stop him from leavin

  • been confirmed by the writers themselves that MIB is indeed smokey...

  • So who controlling the fake Locke?

  • THE FAKE LOCKE IS SMOKEY.

It's taking his form, just as it did Yemi, Alex, etc.

  • @thepearl2011 shuf the fuck up stupid MIB IS THE SMOKE MONSTER! It has been confirmed butt for brains!

  • @thepearl2011 In the episode after Ben kills Jacob, and the smoke monster kills the men that came inside the statue, 'Locke' says to Ben "I'm sorry you had to see me in that form".

How does that not confirm that he is the smoke monster?

  • Dude it is rather obvious that it is. He said he wanted to kill him and find a loophole. then jacob said, well i guess you found your loophole when Fake lock and ben entered his temple. The smoke monster "was" a sort of security system but he is now like a fallen angel who hated his job or service to the island.

  • can someoen plz explain to me this

    im getting lost with lost

i luv this show im obsessed with it but im confused if u have a lot to say about lost and opinons plz msg me and let me know

    that would be very appreciated

  • one of the best scenes in the series

  • Oh, there are definitely undertones. Jacob? "Christian Shepherd"? If those aren't references, I don't know what are.

These peeps are definitely ancient mystical powers. And Richard is a pirate on the Black Rock out in the distance.

  • I also thought that , i think Richard helped Jacob to band his brother so Jakob gave Richard the gift to live forever , or something :-)

  • There are alot of Christian Undertones in LOST for sure

  • bit of everything. The very concept of the island in the east and the temple is also based on a story pertaining to the location of the anti Christ in islamic tradition or at least the spirit of the anti christ or something to that affect. jacob and the smoke monster both being Jinns. It's just a drama at the end of the day, it will put in a bit of everything for the sake of the multicultural audiences.

  • @molvicorleone that's an intersting take. I do not know much about the story of islam. so as a christian I immediately equated it to Cain and Abel.

  • This guy and the black smoke are one in the same

  • most likely that is the case but we still don't really know that for a fact... this is probably what they want us to think

  • So is it confirmed that Jacob and his brother are biblical references?

  • was it confirmed that that's really his brother?

  • Jacob said to Hurley in the season six premiere that he was "a friend who grew tired of [his] company." It's possible the man in black is Jacob's brother.

  • Comment removed

  • according to Supernatural Jacob is actually Lucifer lol

  • well my theory is that that grey haird dude is the guy who is in lockes form because notice how he says "im going to find a loophole" then in the final minutes in the season finale jacob says "well you've found your loop hole." and he dies calmly, obviously knowing he is going to die. lol im so proud of myself for figuring that out cus im DUMB when it comes to things like that xD

  • everyone knows that, not to be rude.

  • u dont know that..god...

  • Ithink it's pretty easy to think that the other guy is the smoke monster, but the thing with LOST is that they aren't going make it easy to guess whats really happening,

  • So the "God of Jacob" right? well one dressed in white, one in black. God vs. Satan or Jacob and his brother. Jacob is trying to prove that people can be different if guided right! Good vs. Evil. I dont know how I never realized it the 3 million times I rewinded this part. And in the end Jacob told Ben he had a choice, and Ben wanted to know why after all hed done why was he never rewarded. When his reward was the island itself, much like Jacob and his brother adressed their father in the bible

  • Ahh I understand now... man that makes so much sense to me. Thank You.

  • that statue should be taweret who i think will be claire, but there is a whole lot of evidence that there may be more then one statue so who knows

  • The man in black came in the form of John's body. He must be some type of shape-shifter [ A lot of people also think he took form of the smoke monster who told Ben to follow "fake-Locke's" orders]. If the theories are right that he is Jacob's brother [Esau] In the bible he couldn't kill Jacob even though he despised him. So, he had Ben convinced to kill Jacob for him because of what his "daughter" had said.

  • Thanks for that. Nicley Put

  • coz they can't kill eachother apparently :)

  • One of the best scenes in TV history

  • this scene never gets old

  • when do we find out that the guy is the smokemonster? this scene doesnt say anything about that

  • I don't think we've actually been told yet, but it seems like the most logical explanation to me.

  • seriously? how an you make that conection? "hm a man...he wans to kill jacob...i know, its gotta be the smokemonster!" could be santa claus for all i know....

  • blind dumb faith my friend, blind dumb faith :P

I'm just using the visual clues, jacob dresses in white, the other guy dresses in black, binary oppositions, the black smoke has always appeared to have it's own adgenda, just as jacobs enemy did, but really i'm just speculating lol

  • thats pretty cleaver. i dont blame you for speculating. its just that everybody seams to agree that this actually is the smokemoster, as a fact. i think the clues are a bit to vague to be so sure. but what do i know

  • jacob and his twin brother esau found the island as jacob invited many people to live on the island.

esau thought that people were not desivering of comming to the island but jacob did not belive this.

so esau decided to kill jacob but due to some promise made with his brother they are unable to hurt each other.

so esau trys to find a loophole in whatever there agreement was.

year 2007 he finds his loophole in john locke using his body he was able to convince benjamin linis.

  • to kill jacob and i belive ben is the last son of jacob there is no conformation that rodger linis was his biological father.

in the bible jacob did have a son named benjamin.

this is what it hink is the case.

  • its never been confirmed he is esau.

  • it was never comfirmed wrong =P

    its very possible.

  • the guy talkin to jacob is the same guy that was in the cabin that said"Help Me" to john locke when ben first took him to the cabin, thats how john helped him by presenting himself as a loop hole

  • well i think mystery man(smokie)is kind of like a judge of sin and he cant kill jacob because tht would be a sin and jacob dosent want to kill smokie and also there will not be any flash backs in season 6

  • yes

the name of the statue is Tueris or Thueris

    this is the best moment

  • Try Tawaret.

  • I found out that the statue was of some Egyptian goddess or something for fertility and pregnancy, and is meant to be a good-luck charm of sorts for pregnant women. Perhaps when the statue was destroyed, the pregnant women were unable to give birth on the island anymore?

  • this reminds me of an old egytian myth i learned back in the 7th grade. the sun god ra and his daily fight with apep the immortal serpent. maybe jacob is ra and the smoke monster is apep. since neither can win/kill each other. the mystery man/monster needed a loop hole.

  • Ok we've seen Jacob and The mysterious man who people believe is Smokie but remeber smokie protects the island. Which brings up the most unanswered incomplete question What the fuck is the island!! Its not Hell Heaven or purgitory. Is the island a god? and if it is why does it need protecting!

  • What happened to the background score at the start?

  • Jacob let Ben kill him without defending himself. This is a strange thing. But I suppose he knew this would happen. I think Richard comes to the island on The Black Rock.

  • Richard was born on the island. He has always lived there...

  • this in my opinion is the biggest "Holy shit" moment so far.

  • "How did they find the island"

    "You brought them here"

    "Srying to prove me wrong?"

    "You are wrong."

"Am I? They come, fight, they destroy, they corrupt, it always ends the same."

"If it only ends once, everything before that is merely progress."

Samuel, the guy in black, is the smoke monster, and has been the one occupying the shack since season one---since the party with Locke's body found that Jacob "hadnt been there for a long time" and that "someone else had been using it."
