I first saw The Flash in action in March of 93, here in Los Angeles. He was already in the record books and a shoo-in for the Calder trophy, but I at least got to see him put another notch in his belt. It was my first live game, and I've been a Selanne fan since!

All Selanne had was Housley, and he was a defensemen. The closest forward towards Selanne in points that year was Zhamnov at 72!

Selanne was a 22 year old rookie. He was drafted 10th overall in 1988, but had to fulfill his military obligations for Suomi and then went to teach kindergarten. Who knows what numbers he would have put up had he played an additional 4 years in the NHL. To be fair however, I seriously doubt he would have scored 76 goals at 18...maybe 54 though.

Well, Ovechkin has scored like a ton of goals lately. I firmly believe that he will someday be a 600-700 goal total player, if his level of play stays high throughout his career. Bure was similar in his early days, slowed down abit, but went back to the high level in Florida. But, only time will tell. :)

Selänne really is one of the greatest players out there ever! Last season when he played first time witout the pain he had been suffering for a long time, and he made a hell of a season from it. He really enjoyed playing in a long time.
