The work that the Community Housing Partnership (CHP) does does is very important and they perform it so very well. They do it better than most if not all. I strongly support their mission and believe San Francisco is fortunate and lucky to have them.
When ever ask me what was being homeless like- I tell them to sit inside a card board box for three days in an alley with nothing to do and they will see for themselves. I went homeless in order to get out of the life I was living in. And it worked.
I have been in that position, the biggest thing you feel is shame.Fortunately here in Scotland it is against the law not to have a roof over your head,so i am getting back on track thanx to a similar organisation as this one.
@tiewebb hey just wondering, if it is against the law not to have a roof over your head what happens to all the people that lose their house to foreclosure?
i have been told that my ex-wife is a member there helping our son and I still in Florida with 15% unempolyment the soup kitchen i worked at as the head cook,
very positive...i wish people would start loving and caring more and opening up their houses to more people if they had the room or give the people some money to rent a place 2 live...we can change the world for the bettter ;)
@hawtn3ss21@proent I definitely agree with the loving and caring part, and maybe opening up their houses temporarily. But giving people money so they can pay rent (unless very temporarily) to me is not a good idea. It breeds laziness and entitlement. I have some family that has become so complacent abt work after having been on welfare for their entire life. It makes me sick. And when you do lend/give them money, what they take it for granted because they assume u r rich (by their standards).
This is amazing-Amazing company, working for a great cause, and such an amazing and moving video! It really shows how a person/a family's life can change, and it shows it very realistic-ly. Thumbs up if you enjoyed this video!
@twe1vebones its a shame when innocent families end up on the streets, mine would have been there if not for our supportive extended family. However if we were on the streets, sitting on the corner asking for money isnt the way to go about it. There's plenty of organizations (like this organization) who are there to help people. The one's begging on the corner are pretty much always addicts, at least that's the case in seattle
This is such a moving video I was homeless from jr high clear through highschool we would have a place one day i would come home from school and we would be moving or the police would be there to escort us out just me and my mom
ok cool, people helping homeless people but the question is Why are they homeless? We people take jobes we earn money and we buy houses im still 13 so i dont know much but cent these people get a job ? even if they havent graduated school ?
@WarHawk215 Because a lot of people can't find work, or they are mentally unstable, lots of reasons why people are homeless. Most jobs pay minimum wage and that's about enough to barely live on, on a day to day basis.
@DeeLeo009 If you call my car a home, then I have one. If you call the 60 hours a week I work a job, then I have one. Like you said though, sometimes that isn't enough to pay rent.
Homeless children are typically just less visible than homeless adults -- youth on their own use services less frequently than adults on their own, at least here in Minnesota (according to the last statewide study), and women and children make up a large proportion of the homeless community.
Life is about community and seconded chances because if one person falls than do we not all fail if we do try to help our fellow human being up again ?
Ask yourselves this question : If your child falls down than don't you encourage them to get back up and try again ?
If you answered yes than you know people are out there trying to help people help themselves.
This is what Community Housing Partnership did for and still does for me today and some day I will be able to do for others
