Diamonds & Rust Live In The Bullring must surely be one of the best ever live albums ever cut. And this in particular is a wonderful rendition of Cohen's Famous Blue Raincoat
Famous Blue Raincoat is the 6th album by Jennifer Warnes. It debuted on the Billboard 200 on February 14, 1987 and peaked at # 72. Originally released by Cypress Records, it was reissued by Private Music after Cypress went out of business. Released in January 1987, Famous Blue Raincoat is a tribute to Leonard Cohen, with whom Warnes had toured as a backup singer in the 1970s. The album's songs span much of Cohen's career, from his 1969 album Songs from a Room to his 1984 album Various Positions
Joan Baez' is my favorite interpretation of this most beautiful Leonard Cohen song. For sheer loveliness of tone, however, I love Judy Collins' performance.
When Joan sings: "Oh what can I tell, what can I tell you?" you almost hear the question being directed to you, this is real interpretation of a song...
The beauty of this song whether it is sung by Joan, Jennifer Warnes, Tori Amos, Marissa Nadler, or the master Leonard himslef.. the pathos is intact.

without a doubt the prettiest, most sensitive song ever, her best effort, except for Sweet Sir Galahad, which she wrote.
