I saw you guys open for Queens of the Stone Age in Montreal on Mach 27th. You guys are hands down the best blues act i have ever seen in my entire life. Super energetic, super loud, and Malcolm Ford, you have one of the greatest voices I've ever heard.
I find it very odd this band is opening for Queens of the Stone Age's 2011 tour. I don't dislike the music, I'm just curious to see the crowd will responsd when they come to a hard rock bands concert and hear country/blue grass music.
Saw these guys for the first time (probably like a lot of you) at the Mellencamp/Dylan concert, and my god, they were amazing. I can't believe that voice came out of THAT guy (no disrespect intended, his looks are just very deceiving). These guys are the shit.
Hey, saw you guys twice at the Edgefield (Portland) and all I can say is wow! Young guys with old souls breathing new life into a forgotten sound. Love the commitment when you sing Malcolm, giving it 100%. Also, nice cover when your kazoo broke on Sat. night! Then Sun. Jack broke a string and covered that as best he could. Keep up the good work guys and hope to see you again.
I've been researching the origins of some of these tunes. This tune is quite obviously a variation on "Hesitation Blues" which was first published in 1915 (I think) in two different versions crediting either W.C. Handy or the trio of Billy Smythe, Scott Middleton, and Art Gillham. Art Gillham made a nice recording of it, as did Jelly Roll Morton. Capitol released a great piano roll of it, played by Clarence Johnson, I think.
@Gummybearone What don't you like about the Dough Rollers? As a sometime Dough Roller myself, I would be interested in hearing an articulate critique of what you don't like about this. If you can only say that you hate it, but can't explain why, then I'm afraid no one will ever take your opinion seriously.
RAGards,
Andrew Barrett (Dough Rollers pianist and percussionist)
@Gummybearone i dunno, i dont like pigeon holing people because of their background. they is who they is. i think its kind of interesting hearing the social opposites of many of the people who original wrote and performed this style of music and pull it off. it could easily come off as gimicky but doesnt.
Agree!! You guys are wonderful! I love that you get the right sounds out of the fiddle and guitar, and Malcom, your singing is wonderful. It's so rare anybody sings on key, much less well.
Thanks so much. You guys sound great too. We really enjoyed your playing and singing. Where are you from? If you're close, we should play together sometime,
You guys are so good, I saw you open for Bob Dylan when he came to Utah. Hope you guys come back soon!

Jack, it seems you put a lot of effort in your singing. Are you being expressive or truly straining to achieve a certain effect in your voice?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
They suck...balls. The only reason why the media take them seriously is because 2 of them are children of famous people. Get the f**k off stage!
