Actually, I believe that the Boers', White DUTCH South Africans, experiences are identical to African-Americans. They are the one group that can finally understand the African-American experiences. However, many African nations have to heal or regulate their internal problems first. Due to the fact that in America, Blacks/Afro-descendants were brought in as slaves from the beginning see. South Africa was the homeland of some African nations, kingdoms, tribes etc... and White folks came from Northern Europe and invaded it. So the situation is totally different and so is their struggle for freedom.

In 1991, well before Mandela came to power, I was among the first Black people ever in my school which was traditionally reserved for White South Africans of Anglo-Saxon/ English-speaking descent. See in South Africa, even the Church openly supported Apartheid and the racism. So the picture is not good at all.

The other side is that Apartheid still has scars in South African society, the extremely high inequalities between classes is the fuel for the high crime rate. In fact South Africa has the highest inequality gap worldwide. So it's not that Black folks as Rendier implies are after White people. It's rather the poor after the rich. However, many African nations have to heal or regulate their internal problems first. Due to the fact that in America, Blacks/Afro-descendants were brought in as slaves from the beginning see. South Africa was the homeland of some African nations, kingdoms, tribes etc... and White folks came from Northern Europe and invaded it. So the situation is totally different and so is their struggle for freedom.

@Hoss2678 No you didn't move sooner. The integration of schools in South Africa was a lot smoother than in the U.S. during the late 60's and 70's. What they called 'busing'. In 1991, well before Mandela came to power, I was among the first Black people ever in my school which was traditionally reserved for White South Africans of Anglo-Saxon/ English-speaking descent. See in South Africa, even the Church openly supported Apartheid and the racism. So the picture is not good at all.

The other side is that Apartheid still has scars in South African society, the extremely high inequalities between classes is the fuel for the high crime rate.
