  • DOOM METAL EPOS!!!

  • ετσι καποτε γαμουσαν οι ANATHEMA ! ! και οχι τωρα που θυμιζουν emo μπαντα

  • @21necromayhem eleos, gi planitis ilithiwn.

  • @steliospitsillides aston vre aderfe min asholise:)

As long as an artist writes something that epic, the music "style" will never matter if ur a friend of music. As to why Anathema changed from "doom metal", or w/e u call Serenades, then i guess they thought that more ppl can understand soft core than metal.U can write a song in many ways and it will still have the same basic meaning.Same way u can express anger through tears or sadness through rage. Anathemas music has always been TRUE.Respect.

  • one of the greatest song of anathema

  • Kocham ten utwór/// jak i cała Anathemę... kiedyś jak byłam nastolatką sluchala metalu

  • To były kurna latka :) P...ne 90-te,miazga niam niam... Teraz to chujnia jest.Too bad so sad....

  • yeah 94 netherlands in sweet sommer.great concert in original line-up

  • Fucking amazing

  • Where It all Began for me!

  • Don't we all :)

  • and I miss, ciary przechodzą za każdym razem gdy słucham tego kawałka

  • I miss old Anathema too :(

  • a noticed a few people played in this band and in cradle of filth. cradle has nothing on these guys. and was the cult from same area?!

  • Comment removed

  • Epic, immortal classic! Nuff said! I've heard this song hundreds of times, and it still fucks me up.

  • Stare czasy, taka Anathema zapamietalem a teraz jak chce odświeżyć relacje z kapelami z przeszlosci to za glowę sie chwytam... Gdzie ten stary klimat ? :-(

  • HELP!Can anyone HELP ME? Im looking for an Old Anathema song-a "Ballade"(acustic..?)-Its a WOMAN Who sings the most Beautiful "serenadic" intro/verse in it-and its almost an opera-with heavy metal afterwards.. ist amasing-special and fantastic! But- its a song who is about 20 yrs. old..

  • @MightySolo Everwake ?

  • @trickrs YES! IT WAS!!

  • @trickrs YES!! Tnx!

  • @MightySolo I can only think of three old Anathema songs with female vocals: Everwake, J'ai Fait Une Promesse and Alone. However, since you mentioned "metal afterwards", I'll stretch it a bit and ask you to look after Paradise Lost's Christendom. Hope it helps :)

  • @FanisBarf TNX A LOT! Cuz-It was Everwake!!-But I've also heard Paradise Lost-and I really like the song :"christendom" too! Tnx's to u' I can play that song again also! ;) You really helped me a lot! Im so glad you took the time to answer me! (Thumbs up!!)

  • @MightySolo Perhaps you are looking for the "J'ai Fait une Promesse" song, which is the third on Serenades album, right the next track after this epic "Sweet Tears". It's one one my all times favs ballads also

  • ......90's!!!!so many great bands like Anathema borned!!!!i feel so nostalgic for this period!!!

  • Oh Gott WAHNSINN What a classic

  • i really like this song

  • daz white..... respect

  • this song brought me many years ago into that kind of music. thanks Anathema

  • wtf is this is it real anathema?

  • @koumatrix Yeah, they used to be a death/doom metal band

  • I enjoy the new stuff and the old stuff, but there's something about the old Anathema they'll never achieve with the new style. Songs like this one go right through my spine, up and down, tearing me apart and then putting it all back together every time. In a few days I'll see them live, and I can only hope to see them singing some old songs!

  • @NistorCodrut old and new stuff, both truly great.. but so different!!

it's as if there were 2 different bands... is that just me??

  • @SHIMMYshookmybone Totally agree with you on that one. It's not only Anathema, look at Tiamat or Sentenced - all started with a really raw style, more or less close to old school death metal, then refined to become what they are now (or "were").

  • @NistorCodrut True.. I do appreciate Anathema in both styles, though.

I take that you enjoy prog rock and metal? I like your taste in music! :)

If you ever wish to, listen to Haken (if you haven't already).. And if you'd like as well, I'd like to read your thoughts on that... :)

  • @SHIMMYshookmybone Thanks for the Haken hint, I must admit it was the first time they got to my ears. Excellent stuff! You got me, I enjoy a lot of stuff from ambient/electro/synth to black metal, I can't stand most Linkin Park-kind of shit, and grindcore and other really extreme genres aren't actually something to sit back and listen to for me.

In exchange for your Haken hint, here's mine - Winds (try looking for Reflections of the I on YouTube).

  • @NistorCodrut Listened to it.. Loved it!!! Gave me the rush I needed today :)

    I'm still listening actually...

Whenever I get something worthy to hint you back after this, I'll do so...

Meanwhile, thanx for that hint man!!

  • Fuckin Killer !!!

  • thank god they ditched this shit and went on to become an incredible band. they were young, I forgive them for putting out crap like this

  • @juddweiss I forgive you for listening to their new shit. It's a shame they moved from this exciting doom metal, becoming more popular to the mainstream generation, like yourself. So please do not over speculate the greatness of the old anathema.

  • @ConvokedDemon to each his own brother.

they're definitely not mainstream now. but definitely putting out fucking brilliant deep music that makes this song sound so embarrassing.

seriously, how can anyone listen to this shit? what's actually cool about it? I'm serious

  • @juddweiss

Man, is this were bad, Anathema never would be considered so important as today. "Serenades" is and always will be a classic in the metal scene. We who grow up listening to this music will always preffer this sound, than the shitty "Sigur Ros wanna be" sound that they have now. Maybe you are to hypster to understand.

  • @juddweiss

This proves that you´re really a hypster...those albums you mention are mainstream metal clasic albums. Anathema was an underground band, and Serenades is a classic, you can{t deny it. Even bands like Cradle of Filth (when they were good) made covers of song of this album (sleepless)...so don´t try to teach us who is good or bad...the only fact is your ignorance.

  • @khyronbradford

    ok, never mind, carry on

  • @juddweiss hahaahahhaa! idiot!

  • @juddweiss if you are young, you are also forgiven for putting out crap like this comment. If not... you may need to see a therapist!

  • TO BYŁO TO............ LONG TIME A...........

  • hey where can i gt this song to download?

  • Only 1 month dudes!

  • this music makes u depressive...

  • for whom ask if they're anathema I have to say

this is real anathema u might listen to newest version of anathema always old school songs of anathema kick ass!!!!!

  • Long live the Peaceville Three.

  • you'll never hear a better metal album. buy Serenades+

  • This is the orginal Anathema

  • ok lol i just dunno much abt them so i wasn't sure if they r really anathema!

  • @dlkrdlkr lol mate.... this is anathema. but still they are good. not like this but good.

  • And it was so great to them live here at Portugal in 94...those were great times back then..

  • This song makes me travell in time back in the 90's when i was at high school and this cd was released and it was so great to listen these dark and sorrowfull doom songs through the cold winter evenings...

  • yeah i remember them in cassettes :D

  • i like you

  • The scream at the beginning made me cum

  • Just so powerfull you can feel the emotion run through your body.

  • old Anathema FTW

  • amazinggggg...*-*

  • old school

  • Like a shiver down my spine....

  • fucking gorgeous! YEEAAAHHHHH! I love it!

    \m/\m/\m/

  • im also in the video...u can see me at 0:25

  • I am in this video! Thought I must have been in that crowd, spotted myself at 2:33.

  • One of the most intense songs in history. Brutal, melodic, sad. A masterpiece! I like new Anathema, too, however. Still waiting for a new record. It's been five years, guys... Ok, there were some records recycling old songs and two or three new songs, but an all-new record would be cool. It's about time!

  • brings up memories

  • brings up memories

  • This Piece is legendary.........even in hell

  • i maybe listen to nightwish but it is nothing in compare to anathema. nightwish is just another commercial band. anathema is quality in my opinion but not nightwish... its kind of childish.

  • old nightwish is better than older nightwish

  • not bad

  • KLASYKA

  • Comment removed

  • You're such a keyboard warrior.

  • the best of Anathema

  • I much prefer later/mid to new Anathema. Still there are many classics that are great!

  • Fair enough. How do you feel about black metal? not scandinivian black metal but on a worldwide stage?

to be fair though, I don't think Nightwish has ever really shown too much similarity with the whole northern landscapes subject matter.

  • Nightwish is great! Tuomas Holopainen is a genius when it comes to writing...especially on the older albums!

  • Cea mai buna melodie pe care am ascultat-o vreodata...Beton

  • hehe, a fost in concert la timisoara in 1994. ce vremuri ...

  • that was sweet

  • "...she's past away but dreaming..."

  • the one thing that i always thought made Anathema standout from the peaceville trinity was the basslines, so eerie and empty, but memorable and catchy at the same time

  • Paradise Lost ruled, not rules. They ruled. And yes, those two records are pish. And yes, they're OK these days, but a shade of the fucking juggernaut they once were.

Shades of god all the way, one of the best metal albums penned. The newer stuff sounds cheap in comparison. Not like they care though, they're fucking HUGE these days.

  • Listen to: One Second, Host, Believe in Nothing. There's more over-production on those three records than in the whole of the Linkin Park/Papa Roach back catalogue put together. New stuff is, indeed, not too bad, but more reminiscent of Nightwish than the Peaceville dirge/Music for Nations epic depression.

  • Well, when Paradise Lost still were a metal band it could be argued...

That Depeche Mode thing was pretty gash. I like Depeche Mode a lot, but not so much that one of my favourite bands of all time decided to rip them off to oblivion and back.

  • I MISS OLD ANATHEMA !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man, so Do I...

  • Comment removed

  • @funeralcoachdriver I hate when people stop liking bands because they get less heavy over time. Why can't metal fans appreciate beautiful music? All you fucks wanna do is bang your heads.

  • @Tb0neZ5 Maybe some people just like the old style better, and not because of heaviness.

  • All is not lost. And never to be forgotten.

  • The most underrated of the Peaceville Big Three; I thought they were better than My Dying Bride.

  • I second that, although I think Paradise lost comes tops

  • Yeah, they were better than MDB, and PL were unbeatable in my opinion, but look at what happened to them!

  • Sweet

  • let's tell Daz to release an album with all his anathema materials..with new better recording..

  • One of the epitomes of doom. Fucking awesome

  • Darren IS Anathema.

  • I agree

    I love Serenades album

  • they should make a reunion..with darren white..awesome!! SWEET TEARS!!

  • I agree

  • they should make a reunion..with darren white..awesome!! SWEET TEARS!!

  • this song ownes like most of their songs,Darren's voice is so powerful

  • I was at the gig where this was filmed. Its tragic that they turned into a twee folk band.

  • Wow! May I touch You? =))

  • Not that tragic, they are just changing just like any of us. Serenades rules, though.

  • Say what you will, but I think that ALL of their albums are masterpieces. And even though they stopped playing doom metal, they certainly kept the 'doom' vibe in the music they are making now. I'm not sure this is true for the new album , though, as I've heard some samples of the songs from it and was quite dissapointed... But who knows, we'll just have to wait for the album to be released.

    Cheers

  • I agree- really sad

    only a Pink Floyd cover

  • i really miss their old sound..
