@ChemicalViruS004 I'm glad you like my video , but very sorry to hear about your health problem. As I stated at my clip, in most cases both, compression of spinal nerves as well constricted periformis muscle, can contribute and trigger sciatic nerve neuralgia, not always disk herniations is responsible for difficult clinical picture.
In both cases protocol that I am presenting, can change condition to better. I wish you to get well fast.
Man, I respect your profession Boris, but I dont think i could do it. I know its all very professional, but i could never touch another mans butt haha, even for medical purposes.
@kawana87 I appreciate your respect to my profession. I really do.I can understand, one can think that he/she wouldn't be able to do it until one will realize, that at the time when on table person suffering from untolerant like tooth pain, sciatic nerve neuralgia, and what does it take to relieve this pains is to mobilize muscles within buttocks, most likely one wouldn't feel this way as you described.possibly you can be very good in this occupation.
@mgaft1 Absolutely, Im sure it would be different in that situation. Its something that's got to be done. Ive thought about being a massage therapist in the past, and am still considering it. Who knows... Do you find that it takes alot of hand strength? I imagine your hands just get used to it with time. Thanks for the response.
@kawana87 actually any good school, first of all will teach you correct biomechanics, which including
utilization of your own weight in order to create desired pressure.few of my youtube clips I did dedicate to this subject. Please try to find them. Probably at channel.even it's physical methods of treatment,I don't believe you have to be extra strong. Just normal ,average physical condition. Good luck.
I tried to post info. to spur a professional discussion, however, the posters weren't professional enough to leave the info.. Therefore I'll keep it short, as this will too be deleted quickly. If you have back pain, see a physical therapist FIRST! They can best determine the need or lack-thereof of massage. You hsve to work from the inside out, not the outside in. Just laying prone has an effect on the spine, could be good, could be bad. I was licensed in massage & been doing PT for over 20 yrs
Muscles are typically a secondary issue, if an issue at all. The first thing to do is to rule out the lumbar spine, you don't search for muscle entrapment as a first approach. Once you get at the mechanical problems, you can then ad other procedures that may be believed to be helpful.
@WingThaiJ as a continuation of our professional discussion, and in order for me to be able to reply please clarify what does it mean:"Once you get at the mechanical problems" did you meant to say mechanical pain?
you are saying"Muscles are typically a secondary issue, if an issue at all."do you mean muscular syndromes
is not an issue?and finally please explain what do you mean by saying: "to rule out the lumbar spine,"?
@WingThaiJ don't worry, and take your time. Usually if people do not using bad words I never deleted posts. Always encouraging professional discussions.. please explain what does it mean:"You hsve to work from the inside out, not the outside in." will be also great to know if you are recently practicing physical therapist?
for a sake of professional conversation, please offer us your understanding of therapy by means of physical therapy:thank you.
Excuse me Boris. I was wondering. Are there methods to treat muscle spasms? My girlfriend is taking medication for muscle spasms in her back. Specifically the Latissimus Dorsi region along to the Serratus Anterior. I would like to help her however possible.
@xXBurstGamerXx there is different reasons could be for muscle spasms.you described muscles that most likely due to stress and prolonged working on computers can produce higher resting tone, and pain. Always good to consultant Dr. but in most such cases constant massage( at least 12 treatments twice a week) is a solution.
@JackinMilwaukee in most cases muscle cramps is a result of ATP insufficiency.please talk to your Dr. there is a lot of magnesium, potassium supplements . bananas and other produces containing this minerals.also muscle cramps could be results of blood supply insufficiency. happy new year and many blessings to come.
I find these videos both very informative and very relaxing. I try to watch them before I go to sleep in order to relax me. Thank you very much for posting, you are indeed very gifted and talented.
@1ProbablyHateYou increased resting muscles tone expressed in functionaly /reversible shortened as well widen muscle.tried to flex your forearm. nature of this movement is a constriction of biceps.for movement it does take significant shortens of muscles.tension in muscles is much less visual because less constricted and with no volunteer activations.
Your video now has a green ad at the bottom of it that doesn't disappear like a regular ad. I'm sure you don't want it there cause it sort of makes it hard to see everything.
Thank you for posting your videos,I recently became an LMT,and you videos help me improve on my skills. This one in particular was of great interest to me as I have suffered from lower back pain due to an early childhood injury, Thanks again.
@mandydancerful sorry for delay with my reply.somehow have missed your so important to me post.was very happy to hear that somehow my work helps you to improve your professional skills. Thanks again for letting me know.
I noticed that you were doing some superficial fascia. Do you think starting off with deep myofascial would help? or using a hydrocollator/thermophore then working the lumbar and thorax area?
@wrestlingclassic2 I am assuming you didn't understood some or all presentation of short fragment from two hours instructional DVD.if you didn't understood because my English I'm sorry cannot help. Trying to improve it. But if you couldn't understand something because of professional terminology and you are not professional then don't blame yourself.my side is for professionals who can learn some approaches and for general public just to know that medical massage could be helpful.
I find this gentleman quite easy to understand, but I am trained in bodywork and know the terminology. No one should attempt deep massage without pre-existing knowledge of anatomy and massage technique.
It is the voice quality of the video that makes it difficult to understand. I understand the terminology fine, just not able to make out your words very easily along with the accent, makes it difficult to follow. better voice production will make it easier for people to follow. thanks.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Man, I wish I could understand him better. It's hard to learn from what he's saying when I'm spending so much time trying to figure out what he's talking about.
I'm so sorry that you couldn't understand what I'm talking about. In order for me to be able to help you please let me know if you are professional in my fields and how many times you have tried to view this clip .

hi boris.I'm 24 years old and I have lower back scoliosis..I often suffer for pain in the left leg.there is a massage that can help me? actually I swim a lot (a my doctor tell me).
How can I not to continue my works after receiving comments like yours. God bless you. Sorry LOL can not accept marriage proposal because I'm already 34 years happily married man, and father and grandfather. praise the creator.Thank you very much for comment.
Hi Mr. Prilutsky! Thank you so much for your very professional massage videos. You have helped me improve my techniques and I am very grateful! I am a massage therapist myself and have been doing some research on degenerative disc disease (DDD) after working with a client with this problem on a weekly basis. Sadly, I don't feel I am making much progress with him. I read below that you don't recommend vigorous (or deep?) pressure.
Degenerative disc disease exactly like any other spinal degenerative diseases causing irritation of spinal nerves secondary causing reflexive muscular tension that initiating vicious cycle of painful symptoms and condition aggravations. it is very difficult to give some advice or to teach in the frame of this post. I recommend to buy my DVD#1 where during almost 2 hours I'm teaching how to perform massage as well much-needed 2 different type exercise programs.
I think i'm speaking for everyone when i say your videos are fantastic and incredibly helpful, so i'd like to take this opportunity for thanking you for posting these excellent videos. Are there any treatments for synovial cysts that develop in the spine? I have had an MRI and CT scan which has shown i have many of these developing in my lower back and i am very young (17) to be developing these. I just wanted your advice.
I am sorry to hear about your health problem. If you have not already seen a rheumatologist, in order to find out why in your age you developed spinal joints degenerative disease, you must. When this cyst accumulate enough fluid it starts irritate and/or compress spinal nerves, which in turn will awake muscular spasm that will additionally contribute to spinal nerve compression, increase of fluid accumulation etc.
A careful management of the mentioned above vicious cycle (irritation of spinal nerves, muscular spasm that will fuel degree of spinal nerves compression) can help control this situation with no high-intensity of pains. Of course you should follow instructions of your health care providers but in my opinion, no vigorous pressure should be applied to the lower back region as well as no intensive exercise should be performed.
Remember intensive- aggressive exercise in cases of degenerative spinal disease will cause inflammation and will provoke initiation of the vicious cycle. If you live in Los Angeles area I would try to help you. In any case whoever will provide you with physical treatment have to understand this abnormalities and then to treat this accordingly. I have developed DVD#4 on self treatment of lower back disorder including self mobilization and exercise program.
You can view my video clip that contains some information. Talk to you doctor and if he will agree use it. All protocols presented in it are very safe. But again decision should be made by your doctor.
First of all I want to thank you for posting all those videos on youtube! You are truly professional and you explain this in a manner that everybody can understand. I feel really honoured to be thaught by you. I even got my little nephew interested in your massage techniques! Thanks to you I discovered the pleasure of giving satisfying and healing massages. Greetings from Belgium(chocolate makers :-) )
That looks extroadinarily relieveing, you really know what your doing Doctor...I can only say that a few weeks ago I woke up and I was suffering from severe pain in my upper pelvis..lower lumbar spine area
a doctor has spoken to me about muscle spasms and sciatica, what can I do about the muscle spasms, apparantly it has straightened out my lumbar spine, it's so painful i'm on 800 millagrams of ibuprofin, what can I do to help it, I can't lie down or walk or sit..please
Dear MMOnGameWalkthroughs. sorry to hear about your condition. please view my clip" lower back pain self treatment". it could be a solution for helping yourself and most important for prevention of future incidents.
Quick question, I threw out my back about 6 months ago swinging a baseball bat (pain very low back) and it has not seemed to get better. I have gone to physical therapy, which hasn't helped too much. Do you have any thoughts on massage therapy/chiropractic care/trigger pt injections?
I am sorry to hear about your injuries. In the United States there are 12 million people every year who are sustaining sports related injuries. If your warm up routine is to run a few minutes and to perform stretching, I would highly recommend purchasing my DVD #7, where I demonstrate warm up routine. Improper warm up routine in many cases is a precondition for this type of sports injuries. For details please view one of my Youtube clips on the subject. Will be continued...
If you received less than 15 treatments at PT facility and the treatment didnt contain trigger point therapy, post isometric relaxation techniques, hot and cold application and more, then you should purchase my self prevention and management DVD Vol #4, where all mentioned above modalities are presented in simple, easy to study way. For details view my Youtube clip on the subject.
If your haveing back pain couldn't that be related to the quadratus lumborum (QL) being hypertonic and haveing triggerpoints in that area that would create lower back pain until treated?or even perhaps the psoas being hypertonic ?
Thank you for thinking so high on me. Muscular syndromes like quadratus lumborum, as well Iliopsoas muscles or even a combination of 2 syndromes can produce lower back pain. Usually segments of effective muscles as well cutaneous tissue and periosteum developing trigger points that must be eliminated for sustained results. I have developed 12 instructional DVDs where in details I represent massage protocols for 60 cases, including exercise.
I have recently just had a chinese back massage. Alot of focus was placed on my lower back, I think the lady giving it to me pressed WAY too hard on the bones there. I have a very sore lower back now. It was very painful during the massage to the point of I could of cried, but I did not say anything because I thought it was meant to be painful. Is it possible to press too hard on the bones of the lower back, will I receive any permananet damage and how long until this pain goes away? thank you
Dearkt24784. at the time of receiving massage you shouldn't experience untolerant pain. probably you didn't receive any permanent damage to your body. I hope in few days you'll feel much better. if during a week pain will not go away see Dr. Best wishes.
Thank you for uploading these videos, they are not only very relaxing, but also highly informative. I have an upper back problem (Postural kyphosis) and have avoided getting treatment because I was afraid of the pain. But after seeing your videos I'm considering going through the physiotherapy process.
Dear Laura. I'm happy that I was able to inspire you in receiving a treatment. It is important because should you not, with time, functional kyphosis can be developed into the painful disorder, negatively affecting functions of internal organs and more. At the time of the treatment you should not experience sharp pain.
Now there is available my self treatment for upper back and neck DVD that include effective exercise program. For additional information please view my youtube clip on the subject. If you don't have time or financial capability for 15 to 20 visits to a medical office this home program is a very beneficial alternative.
Dear Boris, Ive never really gotten a massage before, and im about to get one soon, but there is one thing im worried about, do i have to remove all my clothing? Because im kind of a shy person, and i don't really like being around other people in the nude.
superuglyman888. some people and no matter "dude" or woman really have difficulties to disrobe. in such a case I recommend to receive treatment by using silk instead of lubrication. sample of this procedure you can view on 1 of my youtube clip.
In around a month 7 volumes of my self-treatment DVDs will be available for public. They focus on performing self-massage including self-myofascial release techniques, trigger points therapy, hot stones & ice massage and special exercises. For the last 40 years these techniques were used successfully by Eastern European Olympian teams. These programs are necessary alternative for people who do not have time and /or money for at least 15 visits to a rehabilitative facility
Because of sports injuries and due to incomplete rehabilitation, severe complication of it, taking pandemic proportions, we decided to offer this DVDs for very lower price. In order to you to be notified on day of release, please submit your e-mail to us or subscribe to our youtube account. In the meantime I would like to refer you to watch my clips on sports injuries where you will get some information on these topics.
the best treatment is to get myofascial release/rolfing/Active release therapy coupled with chiropractic manipulation then get prolotherapy to tighten up the ligaments...guranteed to work...will take mayb 15-25 visits.
Do some insurance companys cover these kinds of things i snapped something in my shouldent when i was younger lifting weights and my collar bone will pop out when my shouldent bone pushes against it when i lift my arm and it causes me to get pain in my shoulder blade because it feels like its pulling on it
i got hit by a truck walking across the street, around upper hip section. i'm messed up. got pain and knots on my back. my feet lock up. i need help. What can i do? Where are you located???
Dear Doctor Boris. I was doing some power lifting and I hurt my back due to having too much weight on it. My back has not been the same since. It has had some side affects affecting my entire back, legs and I have had twitching in my calves. What possible treatment can I pursue?
just posted below answer to sparklecutieangel. don't want to repeat myself but would recommend to view all 4 parts of my sports injuries clips. I believe that by learning from this clips you will be able to prevent future sports related injuries.get well fest.
ive had really bad back pain for the past three weeks, nearly a month now and im not even sure how it happened! must have bent over weird becuase not i cant lie down without my body shaking or even turn over and bend over! the pain just shoots through my lower back but i never go to the doctor!
Dear sparklecutieangel. many different diseases could produce symptoms like you described. in most cases this is support and movement system disorders that massage and other non drug therapies could be very helpful. however you must see a physician for examination. soon will be available my self treatment program DVD for lower back disorder. the program includes self massage- mobilization, ice and hot application as well special exercise program.
go to see an osteopath, they specialise in musculoskeletal disorders and they also give a full and detailed casehistory so that they pick up any other issues in your body which mayu be contributing to the pain. they are really thorough and QUALIFIED to practice
When :"lower back hurts like a....", to crack-pop is not enough and maybe can do more harm than good. it will be good a deal to have examination by physician. soon will be available my lower back self treatment DVD where I proposing all necessary steps for self rehabilitation.
Doctor I am 15 years old and i had lower back pain since I was 14. Lots of doctors said that i have nothing wrong with the bones but they say it might be the muscles. first it used to hurt in both but cheeks, but now it alternates. Now it has come up to my left paraletry muscles up to halfway to my back.
Please doctor tell me what kind of pain killers and exercises i should do in order to feel a little better, because this pain is actually affecting my sleep.
sorry to hear about your problem.if examinations OK very possible that you suffering from mechanical- mayofascial pain, which means that your muscles as well fascia accumulate alot of tensions. solution is massage and other physical therapy modalitys. ask your doctor to refer. soon will be available my self treatment DVD. because you under 18, your parents will have to approve purchase. get well fast.
Whenever I lay down my lower back feels like it never contacts with the surface I'm laying on, I have to place a pillow under the tip of my lower spine to try and curve it to a normal flat position. even when I sit I feel like my lower back is curved and not straight like it should be...what would be helpful for me to do, I do not want to go to a Dr. Thanks
Dear PillowPrinces. look like you're suffering from mechanical pain( severe accumulation of tension in muscles/fascia with in lower back.) however many different disorders producing similar symptoms therefore I do recommend to see Dr. for diagnosis. soon will be available my self treatmentDVD for lower back. on this DVD I teach massage mobilization, special exercise program and much more. this self treatment clinically proven to be safe and effective.
ur lumbar lower back spine is naturally curved..how the Hell are u going to have it go flat?! u kidding me?! wow! someone needs to look at a spine ASAP!
I agree with you regarding natural curve of lumbar spine. however this spinal curves should be flexible and a special when person lay and the gravity decreased. painful and stiff phenomenas as described by PillowPrinces is possible in case of over tens spinal erectors muscles and significant tension within lumbardorsal fascia.
hey i was wonder my friend has a really bad lower back and she fell down the stairs and i wondering if you could give some addivice what would be the best way to releave the stress in her low back by the way it just were the lower back until the start of the crack please give me something to help my friend out
I believe that 120 hr. intensive hands on program can prepare 1 to be good full body stress management massage therapist. comprehensive training in orthopedic massage which will include study of protocols for upper back, neck, shoulders, elbow, wrist, lower back, hips, knees, ankle and others disorders will take additional from 400 to 600 hr. hours. I graduate from degree program but like for everyone:" perfections of sense of touch is a lifetime process".
chiropractic adjustment contained shorter movement than osteopathic manipulation.both of this medicine are good. successful outcome of treatment depends of capability of individual to build right strategy and of course hands-on manipulation.for example.asI explained,if sciatica is result of overtense pirformis muscle butpractitioner willadjust spine nothing good will happen but the opposite. protective spasm of pirformis muscleswill create more pressure on sciatic nerve.Boris
if you have lower back pains, its usually because you have tight and shorted psoas mucles, weak glutes and tight shortened hamstrings. you would have to stretch and loosen those those pelvic muscles and stretch and strengthen those hamstrings this will rotate your pelvis back and massively lessen the stress on your lower back.
I do appreciate your comment, but can assureyou that lower back pains could be due to many other reasons than those that you offered.the best if each individual case of lower back pain would be diagnosed utilizing radiological means like MRI,EMG and other studies.on 1 of my sports injury youtube clips I explained why in some cases stretching can do more harm than good.I believe this on sports injuries part4.I hope you will not take my advice personally.was too importantBoris
Thank you Dr.Boris for your reply,i do told my doctor about uncontrol urine,he send me to make MRI scan and i done it but he said every thing fine there is no problem with my discs, now what i suffer from numbness in my right leg and still walk with stick ,please what your advice ? thank u God bless you.
Negative MRI results is a good news.Sometime overtense pelvic floor muscles can cause pain and incontinence- uncontrollable urination. you should find a therapist who know how to mobilize pelvic floor muscles. at the time you have to see urologist or gynecologist who have expertise in treating incontinence. Also special exercise with the use of biofeedback can help in cases of incontinence. Just don't give up and God will you'll be OK.
thank you for making this video i have been suffering for five years with this condition and have changed my doctor a few times but they jus keep passing me from one person to the next i have two small children. i also have trouble walkin. so its ccomforting to know that there is people out there that are not ignoring the problem keep your videos comin.michelle
Very sorry to hear about your suffering. have no idea what is the real cause of this pain but many people experiencing phenomenon of "Dr. passing from 1 person to the next". often MRI results do not supporting clinical phenomenon because mayofacial dysfunction can not be detected by radiological means.soon will be out my Self lower back treatment affordable DVD where I will teach easy to learn, safe and effective step-by step program. God bless you.
I came across your videos by mistake whilst looking for some information re body massage for a client of mine who is a body builder (I am a Complementary Therapist specialising in sports massage) and am absolutely in awe of your expertise and clearness of instruction. You really are a fantastic professional example in a profession where sadly we have more than our fair share of charlatans! Keep up the good work.
I can assure you that to shoot a video and to produce it is a very difficult process. Receiving emails like yours is very rewarding and encouraging. Thank you very much!
You welcome to visit my website that could be found on the bottom of the screen. You may find some articles of your interest including sports massage, stress management, fibromyalgia and more.
It was a pleasure to read your comment in the future I will continue to try hard to avoid creation of bad videos.very soon will come out my new DVD serious on prevention and self treatment of sports related injuries.I hope you'll like them too.on this new DVDs I will present in the same manner like I demonstrate on all my clips for professionals.
probably even in greater details and easier to perform because new DVDs is for the general public.Best wishes.
Hi Boris, I am working with a client who has lupus, I am performing circulatory swedish only, trying to work on circulation and relaxation. Not using too much pressure. Is my assessment correct. thank you so much for your videos.
I think you choose right strategy.you can apply pressure but to avoid muscularprotective spasm and if patient will tell you that this is to much means you have to press less.Lupus is systemic disease which affecting negative connective tissue.I would recommend to perform treatment on full body but 50% of time to spend on petrissage which will promote blood supply to connective tissue include joints cartilage, tendons ets.increase of blood supply will decrease pain.BestBoris
Yes, thank you for the reassurance, I am spending 50% of the time with petrissage, and the other time with long flowing efleurage , topotements, waking up receptors and other relaxing techniques.

Do you do those massages? to be honest, i dont really have that much money to see a doctor specially if is going to be those kind of frequent visits...:( i dont really have money but i think i can afford a massage.. what can i do to get a massage and for how much...:(
clinical picture as you describe evident that spinal nerves and/or further peripheral nerves are compressed. the main causes of compression I described with this clip. however sometime God forbid tumor can compress nerves and will cause the same symptoms. I recommend 1st to see Dr. for diagnoses. in such cases radiological examinations must. after excluding factors like tumors this problem can be treated successfully by means of medical massage. Best wishes.
Boris: I have a wonderful therapist. with my sciatica he has his hands and fingers in areas where my wife never touched. This is necessary , legal, and anybody who says otherwise is just ignorant. Keep up the great healing work Boris, you are wondeful and my therapist has learned a great deal from your videos. Godspeed !!!
The bottom line is that 27 yearsago this protocol was researched and proposed by a group of scientists. since utilization of this techniques helping people to avoid surgerys and to have back a normal life. in US any MD include the gynecologist viewed by General Public indifferent way as medical massage expert. not such case in Europe.Wehave to fulfill a mission of healing. professionally using the appropriate touch I and many others doing this. God bless you Boris
Dear PhoenixDown11. in most cases herniated disc compress and/or irritate spinal nerves which cause protective reflex muscular spasm. compression cause swelling of nerve, muscular spasm additionally compress nerves. all this situation lead to significant decrease of blood supply. protocol that I proposing directed to reduction of muscular spasm, increase of blood supply. decreased spasm, decrease nerve and disk swelling means less pain and irradiation. means initiation of a healing process.
Previously I briefly described goals and result in cases of herniated disc. the most irresponsible on my side will be if I will answer on your questions by yes or no. I believe that before to place hands on patient one must to study protocol which is by the way not so complicated or difficult.
1968 Professor Popelyansky:pressure should be significant but not to activate pain analyzing system. if pressure causing protective spasm system on. I hope that somehowI was helpful
Hello mgaft1 , very professional and specific . I quote the video ***** . Just a thing , the language ... sometimes it's not clear and difficult to follow . Very interesting & practice , Thanks.
Boris Prilutsky here. Michael Gaft (mgaft1) is a technical support person who doing great job. I am the 1 who are performing. thank you very much for comment. for me is the most important that you find this clip: professional and specific. very interesting and practical. I cannot ask for more. this clip is short fragment from myDVD#1.I'm positive that if you would view all 90 minutes DVD#1 a lot of things would clarified for you. I wish you the best and many blessings.
Dear choices4life. Sciatic nerve neuralgia is so painful and especial in buttocks area include intensive irradiation of pain to the lower extremities, that people have no fear from being touch but would like to have some relief. as I have explained on this clip very often over tens buttocks muscles can compress sciatic nerve , resulting difficult neurological picture. due to youtube 500 characters rules I will have to continue my reply in the next.
I suffer from ciatica due to discal hernia and it's very painfull in fact I have 2 of this injuries and I'm only 24 years old.
I respect your ocupation and knowledge.
People like you make our life better.
Good video

@ChemicalViruS004 I'm glad you like my video , but very sorry to hear about your health problem. As I stated at my clip, in most cases both, compression of spinal nerves as well constricted periformis muscle, can contribute and trigger sciatic nerve neuralgia, not always disk herniations is responsible for difficult clinical picture.
In both cases protocol that I am presenting, can change condition to better. I wish you to get well fast.
Yours.Boris

I have always been very interesed in giving massages even when i was young. i used to 'feel' the massage i was giving as if it were being done to me.
even just by looking at someone gettng a massge i can sort of 'feel' what he is feeling
is this something good or just something ordinary? or do i just have too much imagination?

Muscles are typically a secondary issue, if an issue at all. The first thing to do is to rule out the lumbar spine, you don't search for muscle entrapment as a first approach. Once you get at the mechanical problems, you can then ad other procedures that may be believed to be helpful.
WingThaiJ 10 months ago
@WingThaiJ as a continuation of our professional discussion, and in order for me to be able to reply please clarify what does it mean:"Once you get at the mechanical problems" did you meant to say mechanical pain?
you are saying"Muscles are typically a secondary issue, if an issue at all."do you mean muscular syndromes
is not an issue?and finally please explain what do you mean by saying: "to rule out the lumbar spine,"?
Best wishes.

Excuse me Boris. I was wondering. Are there methods to treat muscle spasms? My girlfriend is taking medication for muscle spasms in her back. Specifically the Latissimus Dorsi region along to the Serratus Anterior. I would like to help her however possible.
xXBurstGamerXx 1 year ago
@xXBurstGamerXx there is different reasons could be for muscle spasms.you described muscles that most likely due to stress and prolonged working on computers can produce higher resting tone, and pain. Always good to consultant Dr. but in most such cases constant massage( at least 12 treatments twice a week) is a solution.
I wish her to get well fast.

What exactly is tension in a muscle. that is physiologically what is happening to the muscle.
1ProbablyHateYou 1 year ago
@1ProbablyHateYou increased resting muscles tone expressed in functionaly /reversible shortened as well widen muscle.tried to flex your forearm. nature of this movement is a constriction of biceps.for movement it does take significant shortens of muscles.tension in muscles is much less visual because less constricted and with no volunteer activations.

Hi Mr. I read below that you don't recommend vigorous (or deep?) pressure.
lowrhayl 2 years ago 2
One question...What techniques do you recommend for someone with degenerative disc disorder? Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks again!
lowrhayl 2 years ago 2
Dear lowrhayl.
Best wishes
Boris

Dear Mr. Prilutsky,
I think i'm speaking for everyone when i say your videos are fantastic and incredibly helpful, so i'd like to take this opportunity for thanking you for posting these excellent videos. Are there any treatments for synovial cysts that develop in the spine? I have had an MRI and CT scan which has shown i have many of these developing in my lower back and i am very young (17) to be developing these. I just wanted your advice.
Thank you for your time
h4bryden 2 years ago
Dear h4Bryden,
I am sorry to hear about your health problem. If you have not already seen a rheumatologist, in order to find out why in your age you developed spinal joints degenerative disease, you must. When this cyst accumulate enough fluid it starts irritate and/or compress spinal nerves, which in turn will awake muscular spasm that will additionally contribute to spinal nerve compression, increase of fluid accumulation etc.
mgaft1 2 years ago
A careful management of the mentioned above vicious cycle (irritation of spinal nerves, muscular spasm that will fuel degree of spinal nerves compression) can help control this situation with no high-intensity of pains. Of course you should follow instructions of your health care providers but in my opinion, no vigorous pressure should be applied to the lower back region as well as no intensive exercise should be performed.
mgaft1 2 years ago
Remember intensive- aggressive exercise in cases of degenerative spinal disease will cause inflammation and will provoke initiation of the vicious cycle. If you live in Los Angeles area I would try to help you. In any case whoever will provide you with physical treatment have to understand this abnormalities and then to treat this accordingly. I have developed DVD#4 on self treatment of lower back disorder including self mobilization and exercise program.
mgaft1 2 years ago
You can view my video clip that contains some information. Talk to you doctor and if he will agree use it. All protocols presented in it are very safe. But again decision should be made by your doctor.

Boris - You are clearly very knowledgable.
Quick question, I threw out my back about 6 months ago swinging a baseball bat (pain very low back) and it has not seemed to get better. I have gone to physical therapy, which hasn't helped too much. Do you have any thoughts on massage therapy/chiropractic care/trigger pt injections?
Jyafrz1 2 years ago
I am sorry to hear about your injuries. In the United States there are 12 million people every year who are sustaining sports related injuries. If your warm up routine is to run a few minutes and to perform stretching, I would highly recommend purchasing my DVD #7, where I demonstrate warm up routine. Improper warm up routine in many cases is a precondition for this type of sports injuries. For details please view one of my Youtube clips on the subject. Will be continued...
mgaft1 2 years ago
If you received less than 15 treatments at PT facility and the treatment didnt contain trigger point therapy, post isometric relaxation techniques, hot and cold application and more, then you should purchase my self prevention and management DVD Vol #4, where all mentioned above modalities are presented in simple, easy to study way. For details view my Youtube clip on the subject.

Boris your a wealth of knowledge:
If your haveing back pain couldn't that be related to the quadratus lumborum (QL) being hypertonic and haveing triggerpoints in that area that would create lower back pain until treated?or even perhaps the psoas being hypertonic ?
bootylicka2000 2 years ago
Dear bootylicka2000.

Is it possible to press too hard on the bones of the lower back, will I receive any permananet damage and how long until this pain goes away? thank you
kt24784 2 years ago
Dearkt24784. at the time of receiving massage you shouldn't experience untolerant pain. probably you didn't receive any permanent damage to your body. I hope in few days you'll feel much better. if during a week pain will not go away see Dr. Best wishes.

Thank you for uploading these videos, they are not only very relaxing, but also highly informative. I have an upper back problem (Postural kyphosis) and have avoided getting treatment because I was afraid of the pain. But after seeing your videos I'm considering going through the physiotherapy process.
LauraSK22 3 years ago
Dear Laura. I'm happy that I was able to inspire you in receiving a treatment. It is important because should you not, with time, functional kyphosis can be developed into the painful disorder, negatively affecting functions of internal organs and more. At the time of the treatment you should not experience sharp pain.

hi, please doc can you explain to me the defference between osteopathic and chiropractic and which one is best for lower back pain and sciatica.
thanks
liibaan1990 3 years ago
Dear liibaan1990.
chiropractic adjustment contained shorter movement than osteopathic manipulation.both of this medicine are good. successful outcome of treatment depends of capability of individual to build right strategy and of course hands-on manipulation.for example.asI explained,if sciatica is result of overtense pirformis muscle butpractitioner willadjust spine nothing good will happen but the opposite. protective spasm of pirformis muscleswill create more pressure on sciatic nerve.Boris
mgaft1 3 years ago
if you have lower back pains, its usually because you have tight and shorted psoas mucles, weak glutes and tight shortened hamstrings. you would have to stretch and loosen those those pelvic muscles and stretch and strengthen those hamstrings this will rotate your pelvis back and massively lessen the stress on your lower back.
windheavenX 3 years ago
Dear windheavenX.
I do appreciate your comment, but can assureyou that lower back pains could be due to many other reasons than those that you offered.the best if each individual case of lower back pain would be diagnosed utilizing radiological means like MRI,EMG and other studies.on 1 of my sports injury youtube clips I explained why in some cases stretching can do more harm than good.I believe this on sports injuries part4.I hope you will not take my advice personally.was too importantBoris

dutch309 3 years ago
Dear dutch309
Negative MRI results is a good news.Sometime overtense pelvic floor muscles can cause pain and incontinence- uncontrollable urination. you should find a therapist who know how to mobilize pelvic floor muscles. at the time you have to see urologist or gynecologist who have expertise in treating incontinence. Also special exercise with the use of biofeedback can help in cases of incontinence. Just don't give up and God will you'll be OK.

Hi Boris, I am working with a client who has lupus, I am performing circulatory swedish only, trying to work on circulation and relaxation. Not using too much pressure. Is my assessment correct. thank you so much for your videos.
fretfun 3 years ago
Dear fretfun.

Love and light, thank you for your teaching

hello, my name is Ricardo. i think i need a message like that. my leg hurts too much.. from the backside of my waist to all the way to my backside of my foot. Do you do those massages? to be honest, i dont really have that much money to see a doctor specially if is going to be those kind of frequent visits...:( i dont really have money but i think i can afford a massage.. what can i do to get a massage and for how much...:(
silentfes 3 years ago
Dear Ricardo.
clinical picture as you describe evident that spinal nerves and/or further peripheral nerves are compressed. the main causes of compression I described with this clip. however sometime God forbid tumor can compress nerves and will cause the same symptoms. I recommend 1st to see Dr. for diagnoses. in such cases radiological examinations must. after excluding factors like tumors this problem can be treated successfully by means of medical massage. Best wishes.

The bottom line is that 27 yearsago this protocol was researched and proposed by a group of scientists. since utilization of this techniques helping people to avoid surgerys and to have back a normal life. in US any MD include the gynecologist viewed by General Public indifferent way as medical massage expert. not such case in Europe.Wehave to fulfill a mission of healing. professionally using the appropriate touch I and many others doing this. with a herniated disc, is it ok to apply pressure to, or even touch the affected vertebrae while performing a massage?
PhoenixDown11 3 years ago
Dear PhoenixDown11. in most cases herniated disc compress and/or irritate spinal nerves which cause protective reflex muscular spasm. compression cause swelling of nerve, muscular spasm additionally compress nerves. all this situation lead to significant decrease of blood supply. protocol that I proposing directed to reduction of muscular spasm, increase of blood supply. decreased spasm, decrease nerve and disk swelling means less pain and irradiation. means initiation of a healing process.
mgaft1 3 years ago
Previously I briefly described goals and result in cases of herniated disc. the most irresponsible on my side will be if I will answer on your questions by yes or no. I believe that before to place hands on patient one must to study protocol which is by the way not so complicated or difficult.
1968 Professor Popelyansky:pressure should be significant but not to activate pain analyzing system. if pressure causing protective spasm system on. I hope that somehowI was helpful
Best wishes Boris

You should REALLY drape your client, many people fear being exposed during a massage. If not draped properly, this may become a legal issue!
