Fantastic video! I went to Nikko recently and was immediately in love with the openness of the land on the way there. Live in Yokohama leaves me with very little open space and even less sky that isn't polluted by powerlines. I want to visit the inaka sometime and see seas of rice fields! ^_^
@mostawesomestjes Your trip to Nikko sounds wonderful. I agree that there is something very special about the countryside settings here in Japan. The abundant rainfall and resulting lush, green landscape are an amazing contrast to the tight urban landscape of the cities. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)
Hey, good idea! My cameras have that ability but I havent thought of anything this creative to dunk them in... Maybe I will plop em in dirty clay water!!! LOL!!! I did put one in a waterfall in one of my Thailand videos... But nothing cool swam by... Oh well... DBAD
@blackhat2005 There are rice fields everywhere in the community where I live. By the way, I'm sorry I was unable to pick up your Skype call the other day. My Skype rings at work and I can't pick up unless the call is from one of our sister schools in Australia. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)
@DerSchnurrbart The world of wet amidst the rice stalks was a new and surprising discovery for me as well! I was especially amazed by those mysterious sounds. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)
@patsybob I love the train of thought in your comment! Thanks for watching and joining me exploring the wet world of the rice paddy. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)
@BusanKevin Hi Kevin! We called them pollywogs in California too. My dad was always singing a song about how "pollywogs eat frogs". It was a morbid tune of amphibian cannibalism and just the type of thing the old man loved to repeat over and over for the life-long enjoyment of his kids. I hope that you and the wife are doing well. Keep that overnight bag handy! Have a great day, my friend! ~Kurt :-)
I like how the underwater camera can bring us into a whole new world. In this case a little world that exists within a few inches of water in a rice paddy. It brings a new perspective.
@Strideo1 I agree that there is a very interesting and curious world going on just beneath the surface here. I'm delighted that you chose to share it with me. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)
@Claycat4 The noises we heard in this rice paddy are a real mystery to me and I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that what you suggest might be true. I wonder if we may have been hearing the tadpoles communicating in some way? Thanks for watching. Have a great day, my friend! ~Kurt :-)
@TripleMCProduction Thank you for watching and for sharing your nice comment. When I shoot the raw video I had no idea what was going on as I could not see the video monitor well. It was a rather delightful surprise to discover so much action going on when I examined the video at home. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)
@TheGhostOfSabotage Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. I agree that things in Japan take on a special air of "cuteness". Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)

I seriously like that they are using frogs to keep insects away rather than pesticides.

Wow, thats great that aquatic life can live in the rice paddies. Farm biodiversity is a big deal!

Wow that's amazing stuff. Do you live far from the rice fields?

Maybe it's the sound of rice growing! Maybe the plants communicate? :)

As tadpoles go they are cute, well then again when it comes to stuff from Japan I'm find it more interesting than other stuff from other cultures! :)
