The best performance of this piece i've ever heard! Any purist would say this is far too slow for an adagio but so many people play this piece too fast!
A wonderful lesson for those that pedal on the beat and using correctly 1/2 pedal. Watch his right foot starting at 4:00 it's a great visual lesson on playing a melody line smoothly.....and it's not easy!
Richter doesn't have the glamor, the whimsey, the shimmers, but he has a bigger heart than any other pianist I've ever heard. It is his encompassing heart and his sincere acceptance that can melt all the glamors and shimmers into tears.
