Nice reflection hologram, slightly off frequency so your shrinkage was over compensated if your laser was green, or merely left to standard if your laser was red. The efficiency looks excellent, I'd say over 65%? And the S/N ration is good too. Thanks.

Please tell me how you did this at home, I am a physicist so understand the principals but were did you get the holographic photo material from and what exact setup do you use. I want to make some large images (30x30) if i can. Love the one they used to have of a microscope in my physics department at uni and want to recreate it.

A hologram is like a photograph, in that it captures the light of an object at a particular moment. So the light reflections on it's eyes don't move because when he captured the hologram, there were lights on the skulls eyes. Holograms are complicated. There's no reason to be immature and insult each other because you know more than someone.

Well, ok, let's say that this is the "real" object - why shadows casted by the camera aren't distorted? And look closely at the statue on the left - it's also a hologram. The holography is well known, you can read about it in physics literature. So I bet it's a real hologram in this video.

Hologram isnt something on a flat surface, its in the air 3D reflection fom a laser or something, noone (atleast i havent heard of)has managed to produce one.

You are wrong, a hologram is on a 2D flat surface on a holographic plate. Two beams are shone from the same laser, creating a standing wave inside the plate by diffraction.

When you shine light on the plate, it reconstructs the image and gives you an illusion of depth (3D) so it feels like the object is in front of you and you feel like touching it cos it looks so real.

You can also have holograms that appear to be inside a 'window' but its all a reconstruction on a 2D surface

@ExplosiveProduct Yes you need a physical 3D object to create a hologram. A photo will be 2D. Now, you *could* make a 3D hologram using 2D photos but theres a trick to it. First you need at least 300 fraems of an animation (videographed or computer generated) where in the video the camera moves at specific angles. Once you have your video/animation, you could use a moving slit technique to expose every image at

As the moving slit (window) moves across the plate and you project every image of your animation onto a sprcific window, then you have recorded the full animation on one slit. The reason they are saying fake, is because this is fake. When the camera angle shows the side of the case, look how thick it is. Instead of being called a hologram, it should be called a shadow box, because that is exactly what it is.

Its looks nothing like a shadowbox to me. The box appears to be at most an inch deep, while the skull looks to be about 5 or 6 inches deep. It should intersect with the Egypt Queen behind it, in that case, yet it doesn't.

It has the typical illumination of a holograph as well, which a shadow box could not do.
