I love those instrumental songs, especially when piano comes into play. Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids is my favorite fast-paced song of theirs. 'Extreme Metal' is a blanket term that includes Black, Death, Gothic, Grind, and some Thrash and Doom. It can't be applied specifically to individual bands. CoF is Gothic/Symphonic.
That is simply incorrect. Black Metal is Sargeist, Behexen, Burzum, Vlad Tepes, Marduk, etc.
None of those bands sound like CoF. Most Black Metal fans hate CoF. Personally, I think they're decent, and the first two albums are legendary, but they're the only ones that are even vaguely remniscient of Black Metal. Everything else is clearly Gothic/Symphonic.

This is THE best COF will ever get,the atmosphere is excellent and the musicianship in general is superb.the new material is boring and lazy compared to this.

'Extreme Metal' is a blanket term that includes Black, Death, Gothic, Grind, and some Thrash and Doom. It can't be applied specifically to individual bands. CoF is Gothic/Symphonic.

That is simply incorrect. Black Metal is Sargeist, Behexen, Burzum, Vlad Tepes, Marduk, etc.
None of those bands sound like CoF. Most Black Metal fans hate CoF. Personally, I think they're decent, and the first two albums are legendary, but they're the only ones that are even vaguely remniscient of Black Metal. Everything else is clearly Gothic/Symphonic.

dude this is black metal..symphonic black metal that's all.. gothic metal is another thing for example nymphetamine is gothic metal... marduk, burzum dark funeral is pure black metal. my brother used to listen to that 11 years ago n i used to read his metal magazines, nowadays they've invented so many genres it's just fuckin ridiculous...emo, extreme, speed, maths metal haha back in 1998 this was classified as symphonic black metal together with dimmu borgir... COF became gothic metal afterwards

Not sure as hell isn't Emo but it isn't Black Metal either and it's not bad even though Dani Filth is quite an asshat and he did not get better after the movie Cradle of Fear which was awesome... As a comedy for Metalheads that is, The music is quite good as long as I don't have to see any pics of Dani which pretty much ruins the music for me.

sorry to say that this isn't black metal but more along the lines of gothic or extreme metal. black metal bands are bands like enshadowed, mayhem, emperor and dark funeral, genres aside though cradle is epic :)
