  • awesome man, you're a trully musician.

  • How do you do that at 2:00?

  • looking for overtones, like you would practice on the mouthpiece only, playing with the throat and vocal strings. Imagining the notes I want to get out and making them resonate with the back of my mouth, like a singer would do. Eventually playing with the keys for getting a scale.

  • Thanks. I think I understand. That produces a really nice effect, so I really want to learn to do it.

  • What type of bass is that? It's too large for a regular bass clarinet and the neck is off for a contra.

  • It's a Buffet Crampon going to low C. Professional model. Nothing special about it. Also I'm not that tall... :-D

  • low c man, i cant wait til i can play one of those! mine only goes to Eb :(

  • Just hum any melody while playing; you'll hear what comes out and start working on it... Trying to project as much as possible through the embouchure, without tightening it... thinking about intervals and harmonics.

  • how would even begin to learn how to do that. I'm trying it right now on my bass clarinet. hope there's people out there willing to explain this.

  • i like this, some good improvisation... good to my ears

  • is that a prestige?

  • Nice improvisation, I like when you play and sing at the same time. When I do it, it just sounds like some kind of growl but i read your comment and now i know i have to loosen up the mouthpiece. So it will probly work the next time I try it. Thanx for the advice.

  • i play bass clarinet and dude im note even close too as good as you..... probablly because i just started palying i play bass and regullar carinet

  • Cool stuff. the high notes sound like Micheal Lowernstern's style of playing. I love this instrument and what people have discovered it can do. Great piece!

  • this is crazy stuff, I am trying to understand how singing into my bass clarinet works, cuz I can't do it....any tips?

    your amazing!

  • Just try it, you'll make it some time... no school for that! It's a bit like circular breathing: being able to open the throat (vocal strings) while keeping the mouthpiece round (without tightening it). Enjoy :-D

  • thanks for the help, I can actually get it to work now.

    your awesome!

how many years have you been playing?

  • kick ass playing right there. I gotta figure out that multiphonic stuff

  • i feel like this bass clarinet is being way misused. and it breaks my heart.

  • Well you'll have to learn being more openminded and listening to other kinds of musics, I suppose, young boy :-D

  • yea i agree...not missused ...underused everybody should be hearing this stuf...

    fuckin unreal...

  • how could you say misused? This is way beyond your "tuba parts" in band class. This is what this monster of a horn can really do!

  • multiphonics at :26!! i canfinally do them!

  • COOL Bass Clarinets are so uneprsheated rock on
