  • @benisturning30 Kilts, mon, Kilts !

  • Whats thats one when Arthur Feilds sang of a homosexual relationship?

  • I love the 20's. It was like the breakthrough era to the modern world from the Victorian age.

  • 2:24 What do you inteend to be, ¿The king or the queen? jajjaja. BOTH OF COURSE!!!! welcome to individualistic 2000 and some! XD

  • in back in the past

  • Gay people back in the 1920`s were starting to gain acceptance then the Great Depression happen causing the gay movement at the time to stalled.Same thing happen back in 70`s when gay community was gaining momentum, and then Aids appear once again slowing down progress.I hope the same thing don`t happen again because now gay people are starting to gain rights all over, and people are starting accepted for who they are,and i`m hope another diaster does not strick slowing progress like it did in

  • I did not know thay came out in the 1920s....wow..

  • I love this song and these movie clips too.

  • Uhm... reading these comments, I have to smh

    (1) What the hell does being gay or straight have to do with the clothing a person wears?

    (2) What *is* the gay agenda?

  • @Decktrio Come on, don't play dumb about the clothing thing.

  • this footage shows how little society had changed. the gay agenda is strong today. women should dress like women and men like men

  • @Tomas21052 Society is more cyclical than linear, I find. Look for History not to repeat, but to rhyme--to paraphrase Mark Twain. Over the past few years we've been rhyming with events from the late 1920s & early 1930s--not all in the same order, or with the exact same result, but the similarities are striking. If you're looking for stricter demarcation of genders, hang around for when we start rhyming with the late 1940s & early 1950s some time in the mid to late 2020s.

  • Reminds me of a ped dialogue in Mafia II wherein two women thought about being lesbians.

  • lmao, personally I like the song, lol

  • He thought it was bad then?! It's hard to tell them apart TODAY!!

  • so much fun!!!!!

  • and now men and women look eaven more the same. lol

  • I love the Roaring Twenties :D

  • wtf???

  • You know this is quite shocking. I didn't know the gay agenda was being pushed back in the day just like it is now. This song speaks the truth.

  • @DariusCapone I'm pretty sure if the so-called 'gay agenda' was ever a problem, it wouldn't be mentioned in a humourous, light-hearted song like this one :P

  • hahah. Grand song.

  • GREAT VIDEO!

    I LOVE IRVING....

  • OMG......and I thought in 1929 that everyone was in the closet and the gay community underground

  • Is this a real music video?

  • これ好きだ

  • これーす

  • You gotta love the Roaring Twenties, when jazz and flappers dominated

  • Great fun.........................

  • Outstanding job, Aaron!

  • Yes, never heard this song so clear and long and the videos are clear quality and meaningful! thanks so much, people need to be reminded that all aspects of our modern culture have been repeating for generations :)

  • i never heard such an extended version of this song. i didn't know it had an intro. what's the source for the clip @1:17-1:25?

  • DAY = MADE

It's so funny how people still say "back in my day...[some variation of 'you people didn't exist' or 'that kind of thing didn't happen'.]" The truth: we've always existed, and a bunch of bores are still clutching their pearls and acting surprised. But by doing so, they've been seeing to it that it never gets old. Thanks for keeping us edgy, squares! <3

  • @1oErdoben Day=made? what do you mean?

  • ..if they only knew how things were to become LOL.

  • retarded

  • this song and video are addictive and exhilarating.

  • it woulda been fun to hang with a few flappers XP

  • what a crap ... im depressed of this shit it is soo old but maybe im depressed after redbull

  • androgyny is fun!

  • Yet another masterpiece from you. There really ought to be a YouTube Oscar night. Im sure you would sweep the board! The line "since the Prince of Wales in ladies dresses was seen" rather intriguing. I wonder what incident this refers to. And WHO were the boys/girls in that marvellous high-kicking chorus line?

  • This is sensational! Great fun!

  • This is sensational! Great fun!

  • I love it! Thank god for Masculine Women and Feminine Men and those completely beyond it ;)

  • History does not repeat itself, there is just nobody that tries to change it, so it does not even evolve!

You know somethng esle that came out that year? The original Metropolis from Fritz Lang...

There were not only good things even in 1926... If you call the existence of that video good either...

The fact is that if you think the world has changed, it is because you were not paying attention. Mankind is still deaf and blind, sick and not even trying to do better...

  • The twenties were so modern and broadminded, shame about the US inspired global depression and WWII.

    Go Europe!!

  • Hmm...or maybe gender stereotypes and ideals of masculinity and femininity are social constructs after all?

  • @Asperuaca Social constructs? No, gender roles were established in prehistoric times by climate, physical conditions and genetics. Gender roles differ by species. I doubt female lions hunting caribou ponder their roles overmuch. The only reason we can spend so much time questioning our gender roles now is due to scientific advances and supermarkets. If we reverted to farming by horse drawn plow tomorrow, I guarantee you would find a man behind almost all of them.

  • @genepoolshallow You just have a narrow definition of society. A pride of lions is considered a society by zoologists. Calling something a social construct doesn't mean it's recent, it just means that it isn't genetically imprinted, and wouldn't inherently exist in a social vacuum.

  • @XelleohelleX Which is pretty much what my response was meant to convey. Suggesting that gender roles are somehow a recent development is silly. Gender roles have existed since the beginning. There have always been people who cross those social lines out of need or desire, but generally people had their roles and performed them. Society and gender expectations have become much less rigid because prosperity permits it. Just like it permits art and wasting time on YouTube.

  • Sounds like a good theme song for Fallout: San Francisco lolol

  • You know the sad thing? This song is 90 years old and it's just as applicable today as it was in 1920. History repeats itself.

  • @Shangas Your mum repeats herself.

  • @RahmSifr Buddy your insults are weak. Keep trying though. Maybe one day they'll actually work.

  • epic!

  • What a beautiful old song :-) viva la liberation :-)

  • "Granfather tries to smell like a rose"

    Oh, I LOVE this!!! <3

  • i Love th Old Days

  • Man, this could have been recorded two weeks ago! Ohhh...how history DOES repeat itself!

  • @ramester There was a great deal of sexual experimentation and cross-dressing and transvestism in the 1920s and 30s (although moreso in the 20s). "Masc. Women & Fem. Men" was a song that really captured the sexual...ambiguity and freedom of the times.

Apart from also being an incredibly funny song! That bit about poor Prince Eddie made me chuckle.

  • Awesome! Got any background info on where the visuals came from?

  • wicked

  • I THINK I HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG <3

    seriously.

And all because I had to do a project on 1920s America!

  • @xXLostInComaXx Agreed.

Wow. I love the history teachers.

  • gosh these time must have been so much more fun then today those flappers know how to party as ATbigger says.

  • Love this! Crossdressers are awesome, whichever way they go. And if they thought people were androgynous in the 20's... well... :3

  • the lesbian kiss is HOT!

  • Is this taken from a movie? Would you please tell its title? :]

  • Today is the same thing. Wonderful dress at 0:54. Girls at 1:20 rules

  • No different today...Love those Masculine women and Feminine men!!!

  • And to think only a few decades later it would be alcoholic men, beaten women and back to this again...

  • It's all on a cycle. What's even more interesting is that the feminine men that this song is complaining about grew up to become the "Father knows best" sort.

    ~Salamon2

  • I also remember this from ol' Doc D......Being nostalgic for the 20's seems strange....

  • I remember this song from back in the 70's when I used to listen to the Dr. Demento Show live in L.A. as a kid. This Song along with a lot of other music he would play changed my world for the better at an early age. :)

Is it me are does the singer drop the F... bomb early in the song?

  • It is you. The lyrics are "Go anywhere, just stand and stare / You'll say they're BUGS when you look at the clothes they wear"

  • Thanks, I can hear it now. The New Computer Speakers help now that you clued me in.

    Best,

    Valle

  • what year was 0:21?

  • Ha ha ha!! ;D

  • This video... ... is most likely the best one I've seen so far this year. ... should deserve at least 100,000 views ... and not a single sexist comment.

  • @RahmSifr ^o^ TRUE

  • @RahmSifr hear the version of havanna savoy Band of this song with my video CHARLESTON INGLES

  • Gee lighten up everyone ! Sissies and tomboys have and will always be around. We all have a mixture of male and female chromosomes but maybe in the womb things can get a bit scrambled for a minority of people.

  • SAD BUT TRUE

  • Why sad? O_O

  • Who disagree with classcialgirl is a stupid cunt.

  • This song is so true for today.

  • Wow this is great! Nice look at the other side of the past.

  • Hope you die first

  • Me too !

  • Too wild - awesome!

  • May I ask where you get your source footage? I'm looking to make some videos with old '20s and '30s footage soon. Thanks!

  • Irving did a nice job also.

  • LOL... this is great :D

  • 5*****!

  • Looking at that male chorus line, I seem to recall that somewhere in Jimmy Cagney's biography that one of his early dancing gigs as a teenager was in a drag chorus.

  • HaHA

  • I think they referred to them as "Ponies" in the burlesque shows that they danced in. A lot of it was for laughs.

  • WHO

  • James or "Jimmy Cagney" - character and musical film actor - In younger years played "tough guys" a in "Public Enemy" (1930) and "White Heat" (1930-31) with musical roles like portraying turn of the 20th Century Broadway & Tin Pan Alley icon George M. Cohan in "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (1942) to almost last role Inspector Waldo in "Ragtime" (1980's) - In his pre Hollywood days, Cagney was a dancer, and one of his jobs as a youth was dancing in drag, or as a "Pony" in the slang of the day.

  • @JCJasion +++++What do you mean
