  • gosh i have a core i7 920, youre making my system a dwarf lolz

  • what gadget do you have on the side?

  • Comment removed

  • 6 core is the future ... Frostbite 2 takes advantage.

  • COSTA-RICA..? FOR REAL? WHERE THE FUCK IS MADE IN THE USA?

  • I'm thinking of upgrading to the 1366 i7 970 ( i got atm i7 920 O/C at 4.2Ghz) I'm FPS player do you think it's worth it?

sys spec Ga x58 ud5 (rev1) Gskill 2000Mhz mem an Tri Sli 480's an running triple screens at Res 3840x1024 what sorta frame increase you think i would get in gaming?

    thx

    nice vid

  • wow what a waste of money.....

  • lol you shouldn't have downclocked the 980x :P

  • What was the difference in FPS while running unigine? I can't imagine it was that there was a huge difference between the two..In game that is.

  • nerd

not because you having a very good computer because you talk like an idiot...

WOW.. awesome!! hehehe look at this, wow! loving watching this.. uuuh..

man, its not a girl with titts, just a computer :o

    btw watch my benchmark video

  • @picka313 he just knows alot about computers.

  • i was wondering what gadget is that on your desktop to display all those infos.

  • The most amazing thing about this video is that he has a friend:-)

  • do you have the 5870? or 5970? if you have the 5870 what score did windows gave you on the "windows experience index"?

    thnx

  • why do u need this much computing power? u have more computing power than 5 hardcore programmers would need or ever use. waste of time and resources....really 2 cores are more than enough unless you are the one that Pixar relies on for their video editing and mixing.

  • jeez, it is not 12 cores, it is just 6 cores

    920 wipes the floor

  • @inventorOz84 true, threads is the right word, 6 cores, 12 threads. 4 cores, 8 threads. simple =D

  • jeez, it is not 12 cores, it is just 6 cores

  • Whats the name of the Desktop Gadget you have running on the desktop which shows CPU information etc ?

  • Whats the thing on the front of your case, that has has the spinning light on it? Who makes it?

  • i'd love it just for bragging rights lol. no use for me though tbh. my core 2 quad will see me through until sandy bridge (if its decent)

  • for games now just need 3 cores, but year by year they will need more than 3 cores

  • this is a useless beast, unless you work with scientific or heavy computing

  • @vastolfi not really, scientific uses way, way more powerful systems. For example my dad's company uses 64 3.2Gz quad core(built 4 years ago) for one of there lower systems.

  • @LbsOfTech I meant users, not companies. I work with neural networks and genetic algorithms, so this processor is useful for me, becuase i cannot afford a 64 quad core. It's not useful for gamers, however.

  • @2point6x4 you're running in dx10... He's doing it in dx11

  • who uses 8 core or even 6 core for gaming. video editing and effects sure but for games dont

  • @deathsoap I don't do much gaming, but you'd be surprised how many games' framerates get jacked up with the two extra cores. Especially RTS titles.

  • @deathsoap For people who also play flight sims like me.. it means everything. As the sim reliest mostly on CPU! :)

  • Thumbs up if you got here from his Newegg review!

  • My Brother has a AMD system running a AMD athlon X2 3.2GHz cpu, with one ATi 4890 video card, 8GB's of DDR2 Ram, and his Heaven v2.1 Benchmark Score is: 1036, and FPS: 41.1.

  • if u made a duplicate of your pc, how much would it cost? + your making fee????

  • What is that software at 6:36? Thanks

  • lol i checked this out because of your newegg review

  • Asus Rampage 3 Extreme, Intel i7-980x, Geforce 8800 ultra... Would that make a fast computer? I got money to burn, but i'm clueless. Im a NOOB, haha

  • @brattness Not the 8800 Ultra. At this point, you can get a GTX285 for very reasonable prices!

  • @SirJamesDDJ why get a GTX285 when you can get a 5870! He has money to burn right? :)

  • @SirJamesDDJ ...and GTX480s are going for $325 on eBay O.o I just bought three EVGA GTX580 SC cards to replace my three EVGA GTX480 SCs. Believe it or not, I'm having trouble selling my GTX480s for $350/each...craziness!

  • @SirJamesDDJ got x58 gigabyte core i7 920, nx8800gts lolz, im waiting for the videocard to get cheaper, definitly going to upgrade it for mercury engine hehehe, i only have 3gb ram, gosh

  • @brattness

Get a 6870 or GTX 580. They are heck of a lot faster and support DX 11, hardware tessellation, etc.

  • how 980x compares to two xeons in gaming? How big is the difference , if any ? Is it worth the extra money ? Starting on new rig soon and just doing some research here , because there is not many real world performance tests out there , thanks.

  • @ZXRaziel

I don't know if any games even use anything more than a quad core.

So a Core i7-930 or Core i7-860 versus the Core i7-980X or two xeons, for gaming, virtually no difference, especially if you overclock the 930 or 860.

  • @Usul573 thank you .

  • @ZXRaziel go with the core i5 680, or the core 17 930 if you want a core i7 series... you will never reach the full potentialof a 980x, you probably will never max out a core i7 920.. this cpu just isnt made for gaming so unless your rendering things dont go for it.... put that money into two gtx 480's and a couple ssd's in raid... watch "trubitar" videos to see the differences between certain high end video cards... you will only notice the difference with cpus in gaming til the $300

  • @ZXRaziel if you have anyother questions, dont be afraid to ask

  • @BradleyKust Thank you

  • thats a beast! wow. how much power would that thing use up lol

  • Your water-cooling makes me happy :3

  • EVGA SR-2 Classified Dual Intel XEON X5680 @ 4GHz = 20.08 CineBench

  • omg you have steam :D

  • wow no life :L

  • Awesome.

To those who say it's a waste of money.

    It's not!!

If u can't afford it then shut the fuk up. Fuking pikeys.

When the 8 core comes out I'll be getting that as well!!!

  • A waste of money if you ask me

  • How much faster is the gulftown as opposed to the other quad-core Core i7 models?

  • why buy this when the 8core is coming august, so sad

  • @EliasLovesU Buddy, that 8-core is gonna be over $3,500

  • @EliasLovesU actually you mean 16 core...this 980X is allready a 12 core bud....hyper threading...6x2 is 12...the 920 is 8 core and the 980x is 12...that cpu ur talking about will be 16 cores....and that dudes right it will be over like 3500 or 4000 dollars....and i doubt he has 4000 bucks to just throw away at a cpu that might even have BUGGS and shit for the first while...so bassicly un till they drop the price and get the buggs out of it im gonna stick with a 980x...

  • @EliasLovesU And Nothing for a while would Utilize 8 Cores. And nothing for a couple of years will use 16 threads .

  • ¿? i7 980x = 2,66ghz O_O you underclocked the CPU?

  • Try this soft Fritz Chess Benchmark.

  • hey man, what is the gadget called right on 6:38 ? looks like great gadget... thanks

  • @jakonicki93

    Called System Information

  • Thanks James! Great review and demonstration!

  • 0:17 O yea( empty box!)

  • Great videos, too bad i haven't stumbled upon them earlier. Subscribed.

  • A Beast and they r going far

and out space word is Old schoool

    Rated + sub

  • Came from NewEgg, thanks! Btw....snatched that sysinfo gadget thing :P thanks

  • whats the name of the first programme you used?

  • Thanks for referring me from your newegg channle... your right, thats a nice heatsink although if I was building one on air, I would go for one of thoughs 150 buck ones... watercoling would be amazing on this.

  • Can you do a test With the Core i7 920 @ 3.9ghz vs the core i7 980x @ stock plz?

  • Very nice video man

  • Extremely awesome dude! Kudos on the processor!! What is that gadget you are using in Windows 7??

  • Where is your ebay sale for your 920? Or have you already sold it? How much did you sell it for?

  • @Kakashinoor It sold to a guy in Israel. But got "lost" by the USPS. 4th product they've stolen from me.

  • @SirJamesDDJ Sue them!

  • @Kakashinoor They say it's not their responsibility because there's no "tracking number" unless I pay huge for one. Best evidence not to ship high cost items overseas.

  • @SirJamesDDJ I have had the same issue, i have sold a motherboard to a guy, and it apparently got "lost", and i had to pay a full refund to the buyer because it had no tracking number -_- Did you have to refund the buyer?

  • @bashbanger Yup I had to refund the guy. If there was something shady going on where he got it and lied, hey that's on his conscience. The most I can do is my full part as a seller.

  • @SirJamesDDJ never send cross countrys , they have it set up to scam people sending from the us!

  • @MrLamf2939sh I won't again. But if somebody pulled a deception, then hey that's on their conscience.

  • @SirJamesDDJ Never ship any PC parts of any value via USPS...trust me they have broke 100% of the items I have sent...by broke I mean crushed or physically broken into pieces.

  • I feel sorry for this guy getting a 6 core CPU when the 8 cores are just around the corner.

  • @Blondets1 Is Q3 2011 "just around the corner"? That's quite awhile til Sandy Bridge. Other than that, the Xeon 7500 8-Core you may be speaking of is $3,700 dude.

  • Do u have format u disk after installing i7 980x? or only u have pressde the cmos button?

  • $1,100 for this processor is a bit too much for my taste. I'll take a 920 or 930 and overclock it to 4 GHz and save some money.

Intel is notorious for overpricing their flagship processors.

  • this probably sounds stupid but what window desktop gadget is that?

  • what tower is that? very nice glowing colours and glass from the side... and the lcd display in the frontc is nice too.

  • Awesome video, I enjoyed it, I came across your youtube link here, Thanks for the tip on how to remove that popup in windows 7.

Anyway you have a sick setup, what kind of fan controller(s) and case is that? What kind of watercooling setup is that? and your case? How is that 980x doin? I just put together a 930 system lol I can't imagine a 980x

  • @vexun11 Thanks! The 930 is a very good processor you'll love it. My full system specs are on my website, or my channel's homepage.

  • dude...great stuff.... what's your watercooling? swifttech? coz im looking for a watercooling system...hope you could help me.....thx

  • cool pc Is good job:P

  • dosent the 965 perform better than the 980x? lol

  • I want to see the benchmarks with the 980 at its original clock speed

  • I want that lcd screen you have on your tower!!!!! where did you get it, what is it called?

  • @cozzycovers The fan controller? NZXT Sentry 2

  • 4:06 50% gain with 4 more cores? 920 has 4, 980 has 6 so thats 2

  • @pogodrummer I probably meant to say threads. I was really tired during this video.

  • @pogodrummer he means with the hyper threading

  • Found your video through the comment you left on the 980x page on NewEgg - thanks for the first-hand video test... definitely helpful!

  • sell me the intel heatsink. i like

  • @SirJamesDDJ Ahhh, ok. Thanks alot for replyin.

  • Lmao the teddybear just tops off all your hard core hardware lol!

  • Hey there James, love your videos. I am looking to upgrade to a Core i7 rig and if you are selling your old i7 ill be your first buyer! Let me know if your willing to sell it and we can talk prices! Thanks!

  • What size monitor do you have there? What do you have running on your desktop to see the cpu's usage in the top-right?

  • Ok I have a question for you....I ordered the same power supply and motherboard; my question is I only see one 8pin for the board you've got another one plugged in which you need to overclock but did you have to get a 4 to 8 adapter or am I missing something?

  • can u do video of 920 n 980 both at 3.33?

  • @danthaman7777 Sold the 920 already. Besides, another YouTube user already stepped in and did that. Bout the same performance improvement ratio.

  • @SirJamesDDJ link plz

  • @danthaman7777 I'm not gonna link to another YouTuber's channel

  • @SirJamesDDJ video title plz :(

  • @danthaman7777 Alright. After I did this video, a guy named Maxishine came out with virtually the same one except it's at 3.33

    There you go.

  • @SirJamesDDJ ok thank u im sorry to bug u :(

  • @danthaman7777 No problem. Hope you found what you were looking for.

  • Hmm, check out Tuniq TX-4 Extreme thermal compound just replaced the Tx-3 and its alot better than AS5 like 4-10C less

  • @lizardmannnn It's not like silly putty is it?

  • @SirJamesDDJ haha you must have tried Tx-3 no they fixed it being super solid

  • Hey, saw your Newegg review on the 980X, dang that cpu is soooo shmexxy

  • @lizardmannnn ha me too

  • now geek like you can download porn at fastest speed on ur block, congrats to you

  • @PhatQ45TT1 Downloading from the internet has nothing to do with the processor. At least know what you're talking about before you take a run like a hard-on.

  • How's the condition?

  • Freak.

  • I did one too.

  • i saw your review on newegg, so i wanted to check out the video. that's one expensive ass processor man... I'll have to stick with the AMD's cause intels are just so damn expensive.

  • What widget is running on your desktop?

  • Great video. Thanks for uploading.

It seems that as long as the application is very well threaded, you'll see clock-for-clock improvements of around 30-50%.

What about running both at stock speeds? The 980X at 3.33GHz and the 920 at 2.66GHz?

  • Great video sir James. What utility are you using at 6:35? Looks like a much fancier version of BGInfo. Thanks

  • Really nice rig man. I seen your setup listed on Egg an had to check you out here. It's what I expected, extremely sick tower. Did water in the past but I shifted hardware so much an went to new case an stayed with air for now. Nice to see 6 cores out there finally lol. Now I want to see 12 LOL!

  • sweet processor but cant believe you spend 1050 on that lol like what can you do that my i7 920 cant???

  • @chevguy502 It's more a matter of taking pressure off the board with the lower base clock, not being so linked to mem ratio so I can up it to 4.4GHz while still at 2:14, and also lower temps and voltages with this 32nm Gulftown.

  • 12 cores dont you mean 12 threads

  • @XxTHEViLN33BxX Didn't I say 12 threads? Oh well I was really tired and messed up also when I said 52 seconds on the media encoder

  • Please run some Game Benchmark comparisons , Quite a few only need the benchmark tool ,RE5 ,etc... A Crysis Benchmark etc...

  • @mrjamesb56 I will as soon as I get some ballsy GPUs. Soon. And no, that's not my real name :)

  • What comp case is that?

  • @DJBFilmz It's the Corsair Obsidian 800D

  • Comment removed

  • sin-a-bench....no...cine-bench or sine-bench...

  • I'm in the process of building a brand new computer myself, featuring the 980X, an ASUS P6X58D mobo, 12GB Kingston HyperX RAM, liquid cooling, 1 ATI Radeon 5870, etc... and all I've gotta say is... wow. Can't wait to get this thing together and try it out.

  • great vid!

  • whats that desktop background, James...looks nice!...Also congrats on the processor :). If you can post a link to that wallpaper that would be awesome :)

  • @dcunhakevin It's the LIFE Windows 7 Theme. You just get to it by clicking "Get more themes online"

  • Dude, what do you do for a living? I envy all of your builds but there's no way I could compete with your budget!

  • @Kordan9090 Trust me I do not have an unlimited budget. I'm just a regular guy. Who is also single, which saves me A TON of money.

  • @SirJamesDDJ Aha! It all becomes so clear to me now haha. Anyways, keep up the awesome work.

  • @Kordan9090 ,his real name is Pablo Emilio Escobar..... (he got away!)...lol!...

  • @mrjamesb56 lol! I was thinking the same thing!

  • hey james, what is that like sidebar you have that displays all your PC information? I would like to use it! ive never seen that before

btw, SWEET new cpu man hahaha, it stomped on the 920!

  • Check 2 comments below yours dude :)

  • hahah wow, facepalm. thanks dude haha

  • No problem bro

  • Thanks. Great little gadget. 980x looks awesome, think I'll hold out for the 970 tho... will be much cheaper I assume.

  • what is the name of the gadget you see at 6:35? looks like a sweet one, would love to check it out.

  • @mrmobiusrm It's called SysInfo (System Information)

  • Sweet Video!

  • i wouldnt trust EVGA control panel for accurate Tempature's the reason being it doesnt measure the actual coretemp's meaning inside of the chip it self. the surface tempature is what ECP detect's if thisis the case, i havent a doubt that is true. 21c CPU surface temp on your uber water plausible but a superclocked i7 even on your water 21c isnt possible. however based on my personal experiance core temp and real temp are the most accurate atm. i would go by what real temp says

  • What did the whole setup cost you and who funded it? For someone to have all this hardware and that Corsair chasis... Thats gotta from someone who's got 100k+ salary or company funded lol

  • Wow! that's fast. Wish I had the money to buy that kind of hardware.

  • do overclocked :D

  • nice. i saw your review on newegg haha

  • how did you afford that? you must have a good job

  • How much do you want for the heat sink?

    I could us it.

  • I think I'll keep it as a backup

  • Does anyone know if there are 2.5" hdd bays for that Corsair Obsidian case????????????

  • I've got all my SSDs in the bays.

There's holes to screw them into.

  • Very nice. I have the I have the HAF 932 case from Cooler Master but have not got around to any water cooling.

  • nice.

  • did it pass the razor or did you need lapping?

if it passed the razor, yay intel!!!

awesome cpu!! Doesn't the 980x have hyper threading??? shouldn't 12 cores show up on the screen???

  • @bmw2go11 Far as I could see yup it was flat. It's just showing the physical cores.

  • @SirJamesDDJ thanks for the reply. Just for a second.. have you ever thought that just maby intel might release another processor with !8! CORES!!!! & hyper threading!!! that would defiantly be overkill.

killer rig, seriously- throw it at a cat and watch what happens ;P

  • What kind of water cooling is that? and where can i get it?

  • @own16 Full system specs on my Channel homepage

  • Enjoyed the video...You may be able to target a more mature audience if your setup didn't scream 16 year-old gamer. Maybe some SPEC numbers, scientific/engineering applications, and *nix (and no, Apple doesn't count).
