You're right, they're not technically special operations. But you're not going to invade a country with 7,500 men. Navy Seals~2k, Green berets~4k, SAS~about 3K, SBS~ about 1k, MARSOC~less than 4k, RMC~7.5k, USMC~200k and to my knowledge expanding for obvious reasons. The difference between the two is that you have to ration one to special missions because they're so small. The USMC is basically a small elite army on it's own. That is why they cannot be compared.

Just because we didn't lose it militarily doesn't mean shit, we didn't have the political will to pressure the North to our terms so when we left they ultimately won. Korea wasn't really a loss but it wasn't really a win either. We successfully defended the South but we were forced to withdraw from the North by the Chinese and ultimately it ended with a stalemate and a ceasefire. N and S Korea are still in a state of war.

The US military is constrained in Iraq and Afghanistan by rules of engagement (ROE's) that appear to have been written by the ACLU with the goal of maximizing US casualties. It makes absolutely NO SENSE, from the perspective of US national security, for our guys to go into combat against jihadist vermin with their hands tied behind their backs. Yet this is the situation imposed on our combat troops by their own political "leaders".

Hey listen, you got your fucking opinion and I've got mine. There is no room for fucking professionalism when your getting fucking rocked with RPGs, RPK, AK, Mortars and grenades. Not personally bragging, but I was in 55 firefights in the nowzad district. Professionalism is for the pogs also known as people that are not infantry. You're right, they're not technically special operations. But you're not going to invade a country with 7,500 men. Navy Seals~2k, Green berets~4k, SAS~about 3K, SBS~ about 1k, MARSOC~less than 4k, RMC~7.5k, USMC~200k and to my knowledge expanding for obvious reasons. The difference between the two is that you have to ration one to special missions because they're so small. The USMC is basically a small elite army on it's own. That is why they cannot be compared.

Britain would not have survived with out the vital lifeline to the U.S. Britain was unable to meet its production needs and the only reason she did not starve is because of American intervention. We may not have become an official belligerent until 12/7/41 but we HEAVILY supported the U.K. through material means. Look up some of Churchill's memoirs from the war. He explicitly states that Britain was doomed.

Actually poofdude, we only had about 250,000 give or take some. We had 500,000 during Desert Storm with about 100,000 more in Allied nations. It would've been nice to have half a million in OIF, cuz it would have helped tremendously.....but thats way it goes.

@poofdude Dude you need to chill. We have lost a war, we lost Vietnam. Just because we didn't lose it militarily doesn't mean shit, we didn't have the political will to pressure the North to our terms so when we left they ultimately won. Korea wasn't really a loss but it wasn't really a win either. We successfully defended the South but we were forced to withdraw from the North by the Chinese and ultimately it ended with a stalemate and a ceasefire. N and S Korea are still in a state of war.

@Elitepoosniff Im not even trying to get into this argument but the British casualties are directly proportional to the number of personnel in Afghanistan the U.S. has 60k troops there and Britain has 9k+ its just a game of numbers: less targets, less casualties. It isn't a reflection of training, there isn't any training in the world that can make you better at surviving an I.E.D. blast, or training that can make you dodge a random bullet fired by some tard that isn't even aiming. Just Chance.

We were unable to achieve our goals in the early nineties and were forced to withdraw when things didn't go so well for us in Mogadishu. Its a matter of terrorism affecting each nation and those nations need to stand together in order to show that they will not be held hostage by religious extremists. America wants Britain's help and asked for it, Britain didn't just say "hey mates we're gonna tag along with you for shits and giggles!" You both need to stop arguing and start looking up the history of both sides units and branches and appreciate their value.

@Elitepoosniff On the other hand the U.S. would have been stretched very thin and unable to carry the fight to the Germans very effectively without the major role the British played in the war once they were able to properly equip and mobilize their forces. Let's not forget that the drive to Berlin was won by the Russians first and not the British or the Americans. All of our nations have long and proud military histories filled with victory AND defeat.

The US military is constrained in Iraq and Afghanistan by rules of engagement (ROE's) that appear to have been written by the ACLU with the goal of maximizing US casualties. It makes absolutely NO SENSE, from the perspective of US national security, for our guys to go into combat against jihadist vermin with their hands tied behind their backs. Yet this is the situation imposed on our combat troops by their own political "leaders".
