The military is important, but there is so much we could cut. The U.S makes up about 45% of the worlds military. Second place is China with about 12%. Now theoretically we could we could cut ours by half to 22% and we would still be almost twice the size of China's. They are thinking of cutting theres by the way. We are not using the f-22, the pentigon doesn't want it. We also still have troops in Germany and Japan. We have troops in 130 countries.

Of course the republicans are not interested in balancing the budget. You can't just cut spending, you have to increase revenue too.

@ChrJahnsen The reason why these countries with oil are recently having so many revolutions sparked by Al Qaeda (CIA) sponsored revolts is so that Rothschild central banks can be put in place so that gold or the euro does not replace the US dollar for oil trade. Once in place, these countries will also begin going into debt by having debt-based money.
Because of compounding interest being charged, at some point, all countries will owe a debt that can never be repaid.

@ChrJahnsen Supposedly raising interest rates or tightening credit is used to control inflation, but when this happen countries economies are thrown into economic trouble by lots of job losses, etc. The interest payments are paid by borrowing more--that is like digging downwards to get out of a hole--you just get deeper in debt. Due to compounding interest at some point, the GDP will be outstripped by the interest payments owing.

I remember the Reagan years. They were prosperous years. Over 35 million jobs were created compared to the Carter years. During Carter 8-10% unemployment, 21.5% interest on home loans, long gas lines, stagflation 12% inflation. That is why Carter was a one term president. The economy was worse at the end of his term. Reagan was 2 terms, the 84 election was one of the biggest landslides in election history against Walter Mondale. Reagan"s policies help bring the end of the USSR&cold war.

The military is important, but there is so much we could cut. The U.S makes up about 45% of the worlds military. Second place is China with about 12%. Now theoretically we could we could cut ours by half to 22% and we would still be almost twice the size of China's. They are thinking of cutting theres by the way. We should also raise revenue, by raising taxes. Obama should have led the Bush tax cuts die, but he extended them because the republicans wouldn't let him pass unemployment benifits. They held the unemployed hostage. If we let the Bush tax cuts expire we could of raised over 100 billion dollors in just a few years. Of course the republicans are not interested in balancing the budget. You can't just cut spending, you have to increase revenue too.

Reagan neglects to mention that the "Liberals" of his time hijacked the title of LIBBERALISM so their parties and socialist policies would sound more appealing, and I'm putting major emphasis on the word HIJACKED. The Classical Liberals were even more free-market than this dipshit, calling for complete deregulation of the private sector and for the government to stay completely out of the economy. Ludwig Von Mises is one such* Classical Liberal. Look into him.

government funding pays for an INDEPENDENT board known as the NHS meaning national health service, it providesa very good universal healthcare system for everyone, it doesnt deny any treatment or refuse anyone.

@mapnxyaha2k10 It doesn't deny, but you don't get the best treatment options. The gov't sets limitations on Doctors for instance how many CATSCANS they can give, could be fatal. You DENY the best treatment, you may accept everyone, but you don't give good treatment. Private and Public hospitals are the solution.
Private Hospitals that only accept insured patients
Public Hospitals that accept anyone, and are paid through medicare/medicade in full.

im a doctor on the NHS, they have no limits on anything such as catscans that is just the kind of corporate propaganda i understand you are forced to accept in america from the corporate news agencies such as Fox or CNN, its a good job we have the BBC here to stop such misinformation campaigns.
private healthcare can be better quality but us doctors still go to the same medicine school and generally NHS doctors are alot better experienced and more used to serious situations

Reagan vetoed a 14.2 billion appropriations bill (nothing),so don't blame it all on congress.
