@louisdiaz316 That depends on your Pro shop. Some may be better than others. But for $200 you can buy your own ball spinner and resurface your balls instead of always buying new. You can then adjust the surface the way YOU want it. I Love mine.
@SlatebowlAllStars alright thanks. so if i have a reactive resin ball and use more speed thank hook, what finish would you reccomend and would i have to use all of the lower numbered abralon pads than the one i would finish with?
@louisdiaz316 Dude...what surface depends on how your ball reacts to the oil conditions you are bowling on...what ball are you throwing...what is the oob..what is it doing...what you want it to do. If you want more hook go down on grit #...want it to slide more before grabbing put on some polish.
Just use the grit # you want to Adjust a surface. Start low and go up to RE-surface. Most balls come with Out Of Box grit instructions. Adjust from there to get what you want it to do.
If you're going to resurface a bowling ball, use a lot of water. Factories use water to get their finishes, why wouldn't we? Also, learn that there are 6 sides of the ball you need to sand on to get an even finish based on uneven hand pressure. You put more pressure on the top of the ball than on the side, otherwise you'd push the ball off the spinner or rotate the ball in the cup, giving an uneven finish. 6 sides to sand: finger side, thumb side, right side, thumb side, top, and bottom.
@TheBowlingboy300 after the 1000 grit you use the 1500 grit and then use polish on the ball. That way it resists early roll, but has traction underneath the polish for a nice snap at the backend.
Here's a tip; when resurfacing I use a wet paper towel to remove the dust in between changing the sanding pads. Washing off the dust from the previous sanding helps reduce the clogging of the pads.
I also wet sand with water which also helps to keep the dust down.
no big deal or anything but theres a typo in the title, it says "resuface" i just want more people to find this video easier since its a great tutorial for someone who just bought a spinner
i work in a pro shop and most pro shop owners when the alter the surface on a bowling ball they either spray the ball with water or alcohal while sanding wit the abralon pads
Now after using the 180 or the 360 if i were to stop there do you just clean it and use it or do you have to put a polish? also i was wondering do you always have to have something on the ball once done sanding?
Depends on the reaction you get with that finish. If the ball begins its hook to soon add polish or take the finish to the next grit. Maybe a 500, 600 or 800.
You can just clean it off if you like and it's ready to roll. But if it over reacts see step one above.
@pmbazman15 They were made in in USA, but they moved out in Mexico..for some odd reason. I don't bowl with Brunswick, I use the twisted fury solid as my spare ball, as it is drilled dead straight and it was given for free.
i have a columbia freeze its 4000 grit im thinking of resurfacing to 2000 because i get many 10 pins left and it doesnt hook enough with my low revs and slow speed
I got the Freeze too and It also isnt hooking anymore... lmao just make sure u use 4000 Grit if.... u still play on dry lanes.... if u usually play at mid and heavy lane conditions.... then I would then use 2000...... and just buy the same polish used.... what was it powerhouse i think?
If your ball has stopped hooking it may be full of oil. Before resurfacing try washing the oil out with dish soap and warm water then dry it off with rubbing alcohol.
Use warm water not hot. If it's too hot for your hands, it's too hot for your ball.
i tried it... I got a good reaction... well not with the rubbin galcoholl I did like soak it in hot water... but now it looks like crap... haha, and no I didnt use really hot water
ok.... well thanks so much for your help man I really appreciate it... also my Bowling Coah.. the owner of the lanes.... said that I should use like nail polish remover... cuz its the same waht they sell....
ive been thinking of getting my psycho raw hammer resurfaced to 360 abralan for medium-heavy oil lanes. and to compensate for my low revs to high speed. should i its at 4000 grit now
Can you tell me the circumference of the bowl that the ball actually sits in. I am making a homemade spinner and need to buy a bowl and need to know what size to get.
folks i need help!! I1ve just purchased black pearl from lane masters and accidentley a 4 inch tiny line of super glue stuck to the ball,,what should i do to remove it..tank you
Though I do not have ballspinner myself I also use pads to adjust the balls surface to the needs I have... by hand. Though I have gained muscle... I want a spinner :D
where did you get the splash guard?

TheBowlingboy300 5 months ago
@TheBowlingboy300 Did you wash the oil out before you resurfaced? Try washing the oil and the polish out then resurface.

I just bought a AMF NIghthawk that had some serious dings in it. Will a resurface take out the dings and make it smooth again ?
TheBowlingAddict 1 year ago
@TheBowlingAddict Depends on how deep the dings are.
It they are not on your track area I wouldn't worry about them.

aloha...
how often would I do this to a poly ball?
what is the ratio to the maintenance per time I bowl?
thanks very good vid...a hui hou
RastaMaoli 1 year ago
Rule of thumb for most balls is every 200 to 300 games depending on the lane surface.
Wood sooner than syn.
Just wondering though why you are throwing poly?

I prefer wet sanding too.
I think it works faster and seems to be smoother than dry sanding.

Try the dish soap and water. see my channel for an instruction video on how to was the oil out of a reactive resin bowling ball.
Dry it with alcohol then shine it up if you want it to look good.

boobie284 1 year ago
Do NOT use nail polish remover. Most nail polish removers are basically acetone. The USBC does not sanction the use of acetone of your bowling balls.
Go to the USBC web site at bowl-com and check the equipment specs.

the circumference of a bowling ball is either 26 or 27 and a half inches, i would say 18-22 inches
JustHereForBowling 2 years ago
The diameter of my personal ball spinner is 8 inches.

How long abralon pads longs? How many times you can use let's say 1000 and 2000 grit pads for resurfacing your ball? 5, 10 or more times?
mrlz777 3 years ago
well, you can tell the quality in the pad will start to decrease, and will dull down a bit. and then you jsu replace it. i would say a good 10+
JustHereForBowling 2 years ago
Once i noticed that if the ball doesnt hit the 7 pin without me slowing down the ball, then I know when to resurface my ball

If you use machines like the Ebonite Resurfacing Machine, you use water. Why do you need water, when you use a ballspinner ?
Brunchordie 4 years ago
water cools and the water takes away any dust etc.
Grayson02sept80 4 years ago
without water is really different, you need water
diosav 4 years ago
you do need to use water or you will burn the ball....
