  • nice advert for shreddies

  • a rat?

  • Fuck shit, so dark.

  • The Broodwitch Project

  • looks good

  • teletubies teletubies:) i loooove youuuu

  • I seriously spent a very long time looking for this movie's title! My uncle used to have a vhs copy of it when i was younger, and i remember just a small piece of it. I tried google-ing it, but i didn't know any specific detail to it; other than knowing that the case is black with red, and the title starting with "the". Hours on the internet browsing for it. I was on IMDb "Earliest Horror Titles", got to #5630, and there it was! Can't wait to see it once more!

  • "warning: this film is so officially bad ass, you could suffer from literally being blown away."

  • can't even see em

  • mutant kids look like telletubbies with mucas on them

  • No one made horror movie like David Cronenberg. Too bad he doen't make any more.

  • This is what i call a horror movie!

  • Cronenberg is a amazing director im going to watch this next. If you enjoy films like this i have a facebook page called "the good horror film guide" where i have a load of full film links and reviews of great and not so great horror films all aided and embetted by the mighty "sarcasometer".

  • This is my favorite Cronenberg film, simply because of all the films he's made, this is his most personal. You can just sense the bitterness and frustration Cronenberg was feeling during the course and events of his life around the making of the movie (he was engaging in a very nasty custody battle with his ex-wife at the time and had to practically kidnap his daughter just to spend any time with her).

This isn't just about body horror.... it's about familial breakdown :(

  • I'm sure - oh he is!

  • eggar was fucking hot pffffffffffffffffffffff sexy biatch

  • Awesome horror movie it's about a group of deformed mutant children living in the

attic of a old house.Where they are breeded by a woman who is a monster.

  • is this the one where they have sex and then breed baby insect mutants in some kind of weird pod behind the closet?

  • classic movie from the 70's..blood and guts!

  • Over 40 years old.

  • @jetsal The movie is actually over 30 years old unless youre living in 2019

  • @Cerenok9 In which case send us next Saturdays Lotto numbers!

  • This was on Saturday Nightmares when the USA Network was awesome!

  • Nothing says creepy like a bun updo.

  • did she just lift up her skirt??

  • Those bastards spilled her "Shreddies"! OH THE HORROR!

  • Cronenberg=best

  • Film critic Leonard Maltin really hated this movie.

  • @danning1 did he say why? Does he like other Cronenberg films?

  • @FuckWorkdays *Here's His Review:

The Brood (1979) C-90m BOMB "Samantha Eggar eats her own afterbirth while midget clones beat grandparents and lovely young schoolteachers to death with mallets. It's a big, wide, wonderful world we live in, isn't it?"

I have not seen the movie, but the way he wrote that review always stuck in my mind. What's he's saying I think is that scenes like that are so repulsive and unnecessary that whatever other merits the movie might have are totally irrelevant.

  • @danning1 well she didn't actually eat her baby... she cleaned it with her tongue (so she just licked it). He must've seen the cut version. He must've been angry at it cause it's so dark. It's like saying that Requiem for a dream or Oldboy are bad. But once you realise that the movie actually got to you like that, that's when you know it was well made

  • They destroyed my mind in their whateverness. Eventually, if I don't get help, I'll go postal.

  • If they would have done that to me with kids, I would have killed my children.

  • The best of David Cronenberg before he went to do those lame slasher film.

  • @hanchiman

    which slasher fim?

  • @GypsyFairy85

After nearly a month since I wrote that comment (and totally forgot about it), I remember that I was actually drunk that night. (Probably mixed David Cronenberg with other directors like Wes Craven or something). My fault!!

  • Trailer suck, movies great!

  • look at full edition with the following film here from a v atz.net remove spaces

  • The guy is hot. Damn you teenage hormones lol

  • OMG..I watched this when it first came out back in 79 and have never seen anything quite so disturbing since then....

  • I think I am going to... journey beyond the fridge... and order some takeout and watch 'THE BROOD' lol

  • totaly

  • was this telemarketing?

  • I am devastated

  • Totally devastated?

  • @LonnieB1971 Totally!

  • If the text wouldn't have been displayed and the guy would have stopped talking, saying the fucking cheesiest lines to amp up the movie, this would have been a much better trailer.

  • I picked this movie up at a flea market expecting it to be a mildly entertaining b-movie. Wow was I wrong. This is one of the most unnerving horror films that I have ever watched.

This trailer does no justice to the film.

  • @28335 Tell me what is it about i'm need to know and here's another movie you need t check out it's called the Pit came out in 1981 real good horror flick I saw this movie when I was like 8 or 9.

  • 1:43 is that the "They're here" girl?

  • badly scary and disturbing, great horror movie

  • never before have have i been so bored from a trailer.

  • Saw this in the 80's when i was a kid VERY disturbing......

  • so this is what happens if you cut of a teletubbies antenna

  • @sindaras u jerk, u stole that from top 50 scariest horror movies of all time count down caption!!!! ---The Brood will come for you...

  • I wanna see this movie so badly!!

  • Cronenberg's best movie, completely original and bizarre idea. EST from hell. Tragically, it went over the heads of most critics at the time. Ebert's review was unkind and very unfair.

  • 2:06 Look! At my vag

  • great preview....today they'd release it in PG-13

  • the noises those little freaks made really scared me. not to mention their faces ugh.

  • I'm sure the film is good, but whoever made this trailer did a pretty bad job of getting me interested in watching it.

  • 2 girls 1 cup beats it.

  • didn't know edge christian and gangrel had a movie made about them, COOL!

  • Samantha Eggar is god

  • I love this movie as a horror film.

  • If you are like I was, exploring old scary movies for a forgotten classic, AVOID this movie like the Plague! I found it slow-moving, boring, pointless, off-kilter, and torturous. The opening is dull. The characters never develop into interesting people. Every line is deadpan, except for the screams & shouted curses, which seem improvised. I can't imagine why it was ever filmed If you liked this, you probably enjoy sitting in a dark closet, waiting for someone to open the door.

  • @TubeSteak007

so you were just looking for visceral thrills

  • Saw this for the first time last night and found it genuinely disturbing and sickening... and I have seen some nasty movies!!! Reed is great and the concept is real, though we have it taken to the extreme, as is expected with the Cronenberg calling card. Not for everyone but I got the point.

  • it does look like heather O. from Poltergeist...strange. i've been trying to watch this online for free and am having trouble...damn.

  • It's on youtube, the quality is pretty good too.

  • Thanx!

  • I used to Watch this movie allllllllllll the time when i was like 6. Lmao.

  • got this movie for free with the evil dead, and though I ditn't expect anything from this film, it was actually quite creepy..

  • thank you mr. cronenberg

  • the monsters look like teletubies

  • 1:44 isnt that joyce summers??? buffy's mother?

  • It was the Broodwich! You know, the broodwich issue!

  • Our P.R. department is awesome!

  • Cheesy trailer but a very creepy film. I understand Cronenberg had just gone through a very bitter divorce at the time this film was made.

  • is that preamble for real or did someone add it as a gag?

  • its just a child an ugly child

  • omg that is the mother of buffy in buffy the vampire slayer!!!!!!

  • hahaha the trailer doesn't make sense xD ... wow! now the trailers are most specifics or the narrator tells more about the moviet xD ... i've never seen this movie but i'd like to watch it ---

PD: it's funny when the narrator repeats each moment THE BROOD hahaha! (he has a tone of voice very funny)

  • @XGiAnCoX That's how trailers were back then. They'd always show the title, more scenes, the title, more scenes, the title, over and over again until the mind boggleth.

  • Top film!

  • Wow, this trailer toootally didn't make

sense to what the movie's about haha

  • This movie scared the shit out of me when I was a kid

  • so whats the name ? jjhahahaha

  • the broodwich.

  • @slipknothim13

    nice. gotta love ATHF

  • i gave me the worst nightmare iver ever had!!!!!!!!! i literally was so scared in my dream a slept walked home from a friend's house..........i dont like to think about it!

  • That is how "Food of the Gods" was for me!!!! I saw it again recently with my girls and they LAUGHED their buts off!! It is so funny, what scared us when we were younger! If we had today's movies, we would have had a coronary!!!! Strange how our tolerance changes.

  • nah dude im still scared!!!!!!!!

  • lol

  • "THE BROOD"........yeah right(lol)

  • stupid girl screaming

  • I just bought this on dvd. Saw it when I was a kid. LOVE it. Major nostalgia.

  • fear us... we're waiting; for you.

  • I am totally DEVASTATED

  • Classic horror movie from old good 70s. Kids-mutants looked so scary

  • Well, poeple who do like to see little kids die think you are sick.

  • the fucking narrator just ruins it, it's not necessary

  • my sentiments exactly

  • The little kid doesn't die, does she?

Because if she does i don't think I wana see it.

  • pussy

  • OH, so because I don't want to see a five year old murdered, I'm a pussy?

    Whatever, lowlife. xD

  • because you cant stand to see a five year old nurdered

  • Ah, well in that case, you're a douchebagg. ;D

Oh, and when you type our 'Murdered', you're not supposed to be jacking off, sweetie. :3

  • ITS A MOVIE IDIOT!

  • The girl doesn't die, but there are some pretty

violent deaths in this one! Creepy Cronenberg

    at his bloody best!

  • were can i get this movie

  • Their playing this in april by the cinema near me!:)

  • I've seen this one. It's really weird.

  • ...wat? watching that entire trailer i still hav no idea of wat that was. anyhelp?

p.s. i keep hearing good things about this movie, should i try to get ahold of it?

  • This is the lone movie who have really scared me !

  • I love this movie!Have it on DVD!Great 70's horror!

  • Somewhat silly trailer, because of all the hyperbole. However, having just seen the movie, I can now say that the hyperbole is not an exaggeration.

  • the scene where they kill the preschool teacher always scared me ! And all the kids were just like watching her get murdered and stuff! woah.

  • Johnny is doing the guy in chains and straight jacket and his niece is doing the killer kid at the underground in Scottsbluff, ne. alot of people have asked to have him at the underground every year because he makes it worth going to it, the haunted house.

  • I actually tried to rent this the other day and it was already rented. I thought I was one of the very few who remember this film

  • This is how phantastic/horror movies have to be.

All the Horror/drama evolves out of a realistic situation, phantastic elements are just "on top" - and they seem to be logically within the context, not a foreign object just to show some gore/splatter.

Shattered relationships/divorces and the effects on children/partners/parents are a daily issue - and it is very courageous to show this from a fathers perspective (1979!) - a real taboo (even today).

    One of Cronenberg's best movies!

  • trailer is SHIT

    movie RULEs !

  • Yeah with a wicked twisted ending. The one scene in the kindergarden was scary!!! I saw it a long time ago. Made the mistake of loaning it (sad face)i've seen all the oldies

  • totally agree!

  • One of the best horrors ever!

  • this movie has been one of the scariest flicks i saw as a child. i've been wantin 2 c it 4 a couple of yrs now, c n the baby factory part was the most memorable. Great flick, i was 9 @ the time, now im 38. this is one of those movies u kinda have 2 c 4 urself.

  • thjis film had such an amazing atmosphere and tension, that's actually what made me cream my pants. not exactly "the freaks". but the music, cinematography and tension.

  • cream your pants? isnt then when u get turned on?

  • Some people just -really- like being scared I guess.

  • Is this film any good I've never seen it.

  • Its David Cronenbergs best film I reckon with Rabid a close second

  • Yes, it's a great film, as was Cronenberg's remake of The Fly which I consider to be the best remake of all time, it will never be beat.

The remake of this film coming however is going to STINK, I don't doubt that for a second.

  • I agree, even if I think The Thing and The Fly are BOTH the best remakes. And probably, in the remake they'll have the mother as a hero because American moviemakers just seem to want to be PC (as obviously shown by the casting of acting-impaired black actor Columbus Short in the role of the cop in Quarantine, while his partner who got bit was white, just to have a black person as a hero).

  • actually the little girl in the movie named kandace was a 'good guy'. no need to feel sorry for me, I love my name :)

  • i do have to disagree with the 1st part of far beyond anything ever filmed i mean because the 70s did have Star Wars and that's pretty crazy.

  • but i haven't seen the movie yet so i just insinuated the little girl is evil...unless your mom named you after the little girl because she was thinking the same thing will happen to you in the future...sorry,it's just my crazy imagination.

  • I've never seen this movie BUT my mom named me after the little girl in it..lol.

  • I almost feel sorry for you cause i just had a vision that when your mom hears your name she grabs her knife and then puts it down...crazy imaginations,go figure.

  • one of me favorites... really fucking scarry !

  • Poor trailer, brilliant movie!

  • I remember my brothers getting this film when we first got a video lol ...yep you know the ones with the piano keys, and I can honestly say i shit my pants, and had to sleep with the light on for quite some time, I was 8 mind you

  • I'm listening to this - it's late at night and I can hear weird noises outside!

    Damn Bungalows!

  • Do you think Cronenberg may have popped acid in his youth.

  • I've the brood on DVD

  • I Seen this movie when I was 12 yrs old, and then many years later in my 20's. It is still a great movie

  • oh man this trailer they had for it totaly doesn't do it justice!

  • Thanks for reiterating that this film isn't as dumb as it looks on this trailer. I have read about it a few places and it sounded very innovative. But this trailer makes it look like a B-grade horror flick. I hope to see this movie soon but it's so less known that it's hard to find, at least here in India.

  • This movie is amazing, I had no idea. Great plot idea, excellent acting (Reed & Eggar) and intelligent telling. And one of the most haunting scores I've heard.

    It's also FUCKING SCARY.

  • One of my favourite Cronenberg movies. I agree with JonChristopher999, this trailer doesn't do the film justice. It makes it look cheesy.

  • This is an amazing intelligent horror film. No doubt, this was an inspiration for Aphex Twin's 'Come To Daddy' music video.

  • yeah. if that's true, this film should be recongnised as something that inspired possibly the scariest music video ever.

  • Intelligent, yet horrifying.

  • what you favorite horror movies of all time. or at least your 50 favorite ones

  • so what is this thing about I can't figure it out

  • Nola Carveth (Samatha Eggar) is producing deformed kids through her pent up rage and whenever she gets upset the deformed children go and kill who ever she's mad at. the movie also deals with a thing called psychoplasma. these patients are being subjected to this kind of therapy which causes tumors to form. it's a good movie. keeps you on the edge of your seat.

  • Lick my fetus!!:)))

  • This is probably in my top ten of all time horror movies. Cronenberg just sometimes has a bad habit of talking over our heads at times. He did that in The Brood a lot and I think it is the only fault with the movie

  • I preffer the fly.

  • This is my favorite Cronenberg movie of all, but this trailer didn't do it justice. The 'psycho-plasmics' plotline is brilliant; they should have tried to work that in. Still, it's a must-see classic, and we'll probably never see horror films with this kind of intelligence again. And that includes the inevitable remake.

  • Well, the trailer sure makes it look scary. Because they keep telling us "This movie is scary."

  • this trailer is pretty cheesy, doesn't really do the movie justice. This movie certainly isn't one of the scarier horror movies out there.

  • yeah, that scene of samantha eggar liking one of her babies is fucking disturbing

that movie has the look of any other 70's movies but it was miles ahead of the rest

as usual croneberg take the horror genre to new levels

  • hey do you know if that scene is on here?!?

  • The Brood - #78 in Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments

  • Still waiting for the dvd to enter my mailbox soon!

  • i wonder what they were making this movie about

  • I always wondered where Gangrel, Edge, & Christian got that name from.

  • Great trailer...i do like David Cronenbergs early stuff..it is quite fanastic.

  • And I'm waiting to see this flick, me and horror films are bff!

  • that seemed more funny then scary.

  • Man, Cronenberg is the best at making body horror films.

  • god that music of the trailer scared the crap out of me
