  • Make this wish come true. Vote for Ron Paul in 2012. Bring them home.

  • What ever Michael says, he says with passion and conviction. His songs are all a gem. I love 'language of violence', 'hey world', and 'sound of sunshine'.

@ABevs1; Why attack Capitalism? It ain't big business. It ain't empty materialism. It ain't what most people think. To me it is the right to do things and to achieve things when society says you can't. It is the right to say "I'm gonna do it my way".

  • michael you have to change your political peeps and get behind ron paul please

  • Michael, we need more people like you. You make this world a better place.

  • If u are tired of wasting money on wars, vote Ron Paul. He takes no money from corporations or banks and their minion lobbyists. His supporters are having a moneybomb today. Donate if u give a sht about this country.

  • I love Michael Franti! :) But tell me I'm not the only one who sees a resemblance to Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder...

  • @kaylacobb92 a little

  • Fucking incredible.

  • Okay, no WMD's and Osama is gone. What else?

  • Building streams is my occupation....thanks my brother, keep up the fight...LOL

  • War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, and corruption.... the more you look around the more you realize something is really fucked up. How can there ever be peace on earth as long as we inhabit this lovely little floating rock? judging by what’s happened so far its not looking to promising.

  • @Royak Wow dude, you sound like a hateful fucking troll. Why not go back to wanking over that photo of GW Bush you have hanging over your bed. Venomous self-righteous people like you start these wars, whilst people like Franti show you for what you really are....judging by your vitriolic comments, the truth really does hurt huh?

  • Hey lovely peeps - if you have had enough of this shit called money, war and corruption, go and watch Zeitgeist and join the movement! The revolution is now!

    Thanks

  • jesus..........everyone hates everyone..........the comments on here about this tune are a reflection of how humanity is disappearing from everyone and everything ........ if we keep up the fighting we won't have anything to fight over soon cause we would have all killed each other....... wow, how cool will that be........peace finally.................................do the people fighting realize that they were both watching the same clip??could it be possible that we all want the same thing??

  • I like Franti's music, but he is a Dipshit head in the sand Liberal..

  • @Phishphantom

he's not quite as bright as you that follows what your government says? punks like you have dragged your hole down even further. still stuck in that left, right bullshit are ya? tsk, tsk american, you're in for a rude awakening. get back to me when you're in the soup line twat. psst no repub or dem politician is going to be standing beside you. farewell you stund cunt

  • @bintanglee Ok,you moron,yes that is what you are.

Keep following American hating artists to get your views and it is no wonder you will be working at a Burger King or Walmart kid...

  • @Phishphantom

sorry to break it to mate where i live there are no burgerkings or wallmarts. hey man dows up, how's that wallet going?

    cheers american mongrel

  • @Phishphantom -Number one..I am not your mate,I would not hang out with a piss head like you.

Number 2 my wallet is doing just well.

Sounds like you are fill of Hatred for America, ahh the jealousy of having only Dingos and Kangaroos as mates must really suck!

  • @Phishphantom way to make legitimate criticisms instead of name calling. lol

  • INSANE how many views this has .. compared to lesser talented 16 year old who i dont need to say his name .. he ain't worth the breath it takes to speak his name..

Michael Franti is the real deal

  • Fuck Obama He lied about pulling us out of iraq and left us in the war on terror and wont cut back unnecessary military spending like the tens of thousands of troops in Europe and Asia for no reason...american needs to stop the world controlling mentality i mean seriously FUCK Iraq and Afghanistan those Arabs wont stop radicalizing.

  • @offmynutz9000 who can take us out of the war on terror? we can pull out all our troops of course its possible, but would those few radicals stand down too? or would we just have another 9/11 to look forward to?

  • @ThoseWhoDoVoodoo idk i guess well just have this eternal war with islamic fundimentalists then eh?

  • @ThoseWhoDoVoodoo The war on terror is a war that can't be won. There will always be terrorists. We're hardly even going after terrorists as much as we are "nation building". With everyone talking about the budget and trying to balance it on the backs of the middle class they're missing the real costs...endless wars and military spending, tax cuts for the millionaires and billionaires, corporate tax loopholes, the war on drugs etc.

  • @ABevs1 i agree 100% terrorism cannot be stopped and im sorry but there is no way that there can be peace in the world for a day. There may always be a war but inside peoples hearts there is peace.

  • @ABevs1 "The time to hesitate is through... no time to wallow in the mire... try now we can only lose... and our love becomes a funeral pyre." - Doors

  • @ABevs1 Ron Paul is against the wars(drug war, war for empire) and voted as he always does, he doesn't flip flop, he actually reps the citizens. He wants to end the fed, the war on drugs, and the biggest war on our liberties, both personal and economic. Tv will tell u he cant win, because mainstream media is controlled, and even the republican party doesn't like Ron, because he isn't a sellout like the rest of the repubs and democrats. U prolly know this, but for others, plz, look him up.

  • @JamJHolmes I'm actually not a fan of Ron Paul. Sure there are a handful of issues that I agree with him on but he's way too conservative for me and way too much of a capitalist. If I had my choice it would be someone closer to Russ Feingold.

  • @ABevs1 Yes sir. Ron is great, but he has a very capitalist perspective. But you can't expect anyone to win unless they embrace that perspective. So how are we supposed to get someone in to fix things when the capitalist perspective is the source of the problem.

  • @a1Drummer07 Washington is always miles behind the people. I think the people are actually more socialistic than Washington even though people hate to admit it because the word socialism has been demonized by the right. Tax hikes for the rich poll around 70-80% and social security and medicare etc. are extremely popular too. The key is to get the people to realize they are not temporarily embarrassed millionaires but an exploited proletariat as Steinbeck said. With our media it's no easy task.

  • @ABevs1 Well said. Steinbeck had it right. In my opinion, Huxley was on to something too. You don't necessarily have to conceal everything from people because people don't care in the first place. But hasn't socialism been demonized by the left as well? The neoliberal perspective is much more destructive than anything on the right...although its origins are in neoconservatism.

  • @a1Drummer07 Yes I completely agree. The neoliberals have contributed just as much to the problem. Liberals are usually just the warm and fuzzy face of US imperialism and capitalism etc.

  • @ABevs1 The neoliberal mindset has nothing to do with liberalism just like the neocons have little to do with true conservatism. Liberalism and conservatism are just their public faces. The philosophy behind their actions is much deeper (and older) than modern political parties. The rockefellers, carnegies and fords developed a system that would build itself over time, in the name of "making the WORLD safe for capitalism" as John D. put it.

Message me and I'll give you a link to a great talk

  • @a1Drummer07 I think you're going to have a capitalist perspective in all human walks of life... Some people are always going to have/want more, it's a 'globalist' state of mind that the problems stem from and it is globalism that is the problem, the often get mistaken as one... Ron Paul is not a globalist, It is a globalist strategy that creates wars and land grabs

  • @coffee2bsmelt Wait...a person with a capitalist perspective thinks we're going to have a capitalist perspective in all human walks of life? Beliefs are strong aren't they?

  • @ABevs1 With all the recent the terrorists in the worlds being traced back to the British & US governments then it's a vicious circle that is making people in the 'Military Industrial Complex a lot of money....

  • @coffee2bsmelt It is an unspeakable monstrous evil. Most Americans would fight you to the death before they would believe it, but it is true.

  • @offmynutz9000 We've got a bigger problem with the Christian radicals in our own country.

  • this is my fav song

  • Hey man, when are you playing in/near belgium?! I want to see you live!

  • IF you like Franti & Spearhead, you will like this artist--------> Station SM Click my page to see music.

    -thanks, stef

  • I love it when that bass comes in at 1:15. Sounds so bad ass...

  • WAGE PEACE BROTHERS AND SISTERS!!!! This world can be what we imagine it to be...

  • i plan to join the military, so im gonna have to keep this song with me for the rest of my life >:3

  • @UnbrandedClown

to keep for when you murder wedding parties of people you know nothing about? you nostalgic one

  • @bintanglee Hell yes!! ima crash so many parties i'll have my own TV show >:D

  • how could he go from this to his obama worship song?

  • @NataiEndo elaborate on that.

  • @YoitsDro this song talks the talk... the obama song worships a globalist puppet who works for the new world order and wall street. this song is anti-war. obama is a war president even if he was a peace candidate... its quite simple... franti got duped by obamas slick lying... obama is just another puppet serving the same interests as bush and clinton and bush and pretty much every president since kennedy. obama is a smooth criminal and franti fell for it like a fool just like most of america

  • @NataiEndo So if he fell for a lie, then is it his fault for producing a pro-Obama song? oh and are you anti-war?

  • @NataiEndo this started when Truman took over for jfk. Trueman withheld info that got us involved in ww2. why? because we were in a recession. why do you think bush had the pentagon hit and the world trade center brought down. so he could dispose of critical documents and get America behind him to start a war.he even told the pres of Argentina that war is the best way to make a profit. the proof is all out their you just have to look for it. or remain stupid as the rest of America

  • @gregholmes09 yeah i would go back and re-read your post then check the facts

  • @NataiEndo i did check the facts. you should do the same. all of the facts i speak of are documented. americans have their head in the sand. we are a disgrace to the rest of the world. we do not fight with honor. you will see. the day is coming soon. we all will know the truth weather we want to or not. a day of change is comming.

  • @gregholmes09 im sorry but you must be mistaken Truman did not take over for JFK... and JFK was not president before WW2. but im pretty sure you get whats going on .. just sounds like you got mixed up

  • @NataiEndo yup you are right.right facts wrong person. what the government is doing is the important part. thank you for the correction.

  • Got so much respect for Michael Franti and other artists who put substance and meaning into the lyrics.

Bless to conscious artists like Michael Franti, Spearhead, Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy, Saul Williams, Immortal Technique, Massive Attack, Asian Dub Foundation, Krs One, Nine, Stereo MCs, Faithless, Dead Prez, Sage Francis, Lowkey, Scroobius Pip, AllFlaws

  • @TheWindfull check out xavier rudd too. much more mellow than what you suggested, but lyrics are powerful nonetheless.

  • @TheWindfull I'll add aesop rock :)

  • @TheWindfull Phil Ochs, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan...

  • @TheWindfull Blessings to artists who tell the truth even if it means they're never going to make it on a Billboard list or get mainstream radio play. Keep telling that truth. People need to hear it.

  • @TheWindfull Perhaps also Thievery Corporation, although some of thei songs don't have lyrics.

  • @TheWindfull He is right about one thing in this song his master President Obama did start a war and would NEVER be man enough to fight it. You can't say the same about other canidates. Franti really never cared about peace, he is demagogue nothing more.

  • @Royak

Franti went to Baghdad with his guitar and played music to crippled kids in hospitals. What did YOU do?

  • @fishbonegroove They dont like being called crippled kids bud

  • @bark4myfoot A 3-year-old with his legs blown off is a crippled kid, and I think how I call him is the last of his worries.

  • @Royak : i don`t give a flying fuck!!

  • Thanks to Michael for supporting our Troops. We need to wake up as a society, turn away from the tv, the 'news' and talk to your neighbor who has a son, daughter, wife, husband, child or friend, far away from home fighting & dying for your freedom right now. WAKE UP!!

  • The first 4-6 lines of this song kill me.

  • My social teacher played this in school yesterday on guitar for our class. Powerful message love you Michael Franti

  • @DansenCrash Your teacher must be cool than

  • @l7ebels He is very ahah(: I love him

  • Money is not the root of all evil, it's the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil. and sadly sometimes those who have the least LOVE it the most!

  • @NOTgarycoleman

Is money the root of all evil? Not always. Money taken from corporations and placed in the hands of a man like Franti, can do marvelous things. I bet he has done more good with that money that many of us would have. And pop-like songs such as "Say Hey", bring his music and message to the masses. That's not selling out, that is genius.

  • Whata Sell Out.

Now he hawks Corona LITE beer.

    Fuckin Franti, what happened man?

    It used to be beautiful.

Now it's like a Gap Ad.

  • @NOTgarycoleman

i think we all need to cut artists a break in this current atmosphere of "stealing" music. i know we all do it even though its not really right to not pay the artists for their work, so if they have to supplement income by "selling out," so be it . Michael Franti and Spearhead deserve whatever money thay got paid for that commercial, and hopefully it will just give them the time and resources to make more great, sometimes political, sometimes not, music.

  • @NOTgarycoleman you post this on every franti video? why don't you take your negativity, spin it around, and put some light in the world? you saying what a "sellout" franti is contributes nothing to anyone, and you just make yourself look silly. michael has done more than brad pitt or any other hollowood faces with much less resources or recognition, but thats just the point. do what you can for the world with what you have. love and light! /end rant.

  • @NOTgarycoleman Is money the root of all evil? Not always. Money taken from corporations and placed in the hands of a man like Franti, can do marvelous things. I bet he has done more good with that money then many of us would have. And pop-like songs such as, "Say Hey", bring his message of peace to the masses. If people find songs like "Yell Fire" and "Seewt Little Lies" after hearing it on TV, so be it. That's not selling out, that's genius. Don't give up on him.

  • @NOTgarycoleman fool u are... think of the bigger picture and what could happen if everyone started to pay attention to this guy

  • @NOTgarycoleman I've been with Franti for a while now...his music is still beautiful. The only thing keeping you from realizing that, is you and your ideas about selling out. It's his music, I think that gives him the right to do with it what he will. I'm going to agree with what sudds2x said, it's money taken from a big corporation and put into the hands of someone who can use it for good.

  • F'ing brilliant song.

  • @TheForeverWorld Sorry you lost some love ones in fallujah, but the american soldiers are the ones that made it a hell, as you call it. America had to fight terrorism in iraq for terrorists to show up there. Irony

  • 33 people have isssues

  • There is no flag large enough to cover the death of an innocent life!

  • the words have fallen on deaf ears and eyes that see coca cola. no shortage of angsted young ones picking up guns to kill on command.

  • There is a people where there is no war, , no killing, no crime . . . I hope your heart let's you find them...Isaiah 11:1-9...

  • I host a talk show, "Coffee Talk with Chelle" Sunday nights between 8-10pm CT and there is a troop in Afghanistan that use their limited Internet time to tune in and listen; and we converse via chatroom during my show and sometimes they call me thru Skype as well; and this last Wed as the funeral of Spc Timothy Johnson from this unit; I miss him dearly; please take a moment out to say a prayer for our troops because I truly believe for them now it's "TIME to GO HOME!"

  • @LemonSkull I, of course, disagree with you and the victim mentality of only having the military to escape substance use in a family is absurd. While I am sure plenty use it as a form of escape, they have chosen a job that is based upon inherent danger; just as a cop or a firefighter knows each day may be his last. If you don't want the job, don't sign up for the job and then blame the government, who you've sworn to protect and are paying you to do it, for putting you in harms way.

  • @jgreen913 I think what Franti is saying can be summed up in Ezra Pound's poem, In A Station At The Metro. But we must ask the questions, how many people go into the army intent on taking lives? How many dont know what they are getting themselves into? How many agree with the or even know the reasons for the war which they are forced to fight?

War is the perfect and most horrible example of the collective insanity that the human race has kept for all our written history.

  • Those who start wars____never fight them;... *I have never heard a Michael Franti song I didn't like - love them all!

  • Those who start wars____never fight them;...

  • Sorry Mr. Franti...but those pictures of the kids at basic training...they are there on their own accord. The United States of America is one of the few wonderful countries that has a voluntary military. The rest of you...just because you agree with his stance does not make it the truth....sorry.

  • @jgreen913 Do you think people don't realize that our army is voluntary? Of couse not, we have no illusions there. Its the pro-military atmosphere in American society that effectively recruits so many. Obviously they have a choice, but if you indoctrinate kids from the beginning, do they really have a choice? If you create an atmosphere where joining the military is the only way to bring honor to your drug-riddled family, you know we have done something wrong.

  • @jgreen913

Yes, they are there of their own accord. And the government thanks them for their service by sending them to fight and die for imperialism.

I agree with this song BECAUSE I have a husband in Afghanistan. I've watched the husbands of my friends die in combat and it makes me angry that more people don't realize the futility of what we're supposedly doing over there.

  • @PDSproduction I agree 100%

  • Somebody is telling THE TRUTH. I love this guy and I am going to personally, take Him Home...Back to Godhead. Vrindavan...The Spiritual Sky...Why??? Because, He is all about LOVE!!! Vishnave Swami Maharaja (<:\

  • Michael Franti's music is the truest music I've ever heard. Almost all of his songs are hits. He is SO amazing. I love him sooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I'd go gay for him(Ha JK) But yeah.

  • awesome song....ever lasting part of americas awakening soundtrack....just wish more people would understand....paz....hasta la victoria siempre

  • the lyrics are so chilling and heart wrenching. Makes my heart ache.

  • I hear all the time;" where are the protest songs" ? Growing up in the 60's it does seem there are not enough from the Hip Hop generation, but then I think it's not the artists, it is that Radio doesn't play it.I know it is out there if you look hard enough. Full circle, it is up to the the audience to get it played. Dylan wasn't main stream until stations searching for a audience found out people wanted to hear Dylan. Choose your stations wisely my friends.

  • im already against the next war...

  • this man is so amazing

  • I seen micheal in Edmonton just last month it was truly one of the most amazing, energetic concerts i've ever been to.

  • I have nothing against this song, it rings true, I just don't want people to think our men and women are fighting for nothing. They are protecting the innocent and changing the minds and hearts of the people. Terrorism is made by hate and propaganda, we win when we show compassion and love for those that have to suffer at the hands of their government, when those children grow with hope and love in their hearts for an idea of freedom.

  • @coricat07 yes but perhaps violence isn't the best way to do that.

  • @zed4785 I don't think you read my comment are else you wouldn't have replied that way. I believe that's exactly what I said.

For as much violence that you see on TV that's over-shown we show compassion and show no fire [unless we're shot at] 4 times more. Like i said, this is terrorism we're fighting, not Iraqi's, not afghani's, not muslims, this isn't about oil - it's terrorism. Terrorist's don't respond to treaties, peace, love, or compassion. They want to spread fear and anger.

  • @coricat07 THe U.S knowws they cant fight terrorism hence why there pulling out(if they knew this why start?) because it is about OIL seeing as we are starting to run out of cheap sources of it

  • Comment removed

  • Do I believe we should have gone over? No. Plan and simple. But this wasn't started in 2001, it was started in 1990. We're not fighting troops, we're fighting terrorists, they might as well be invisible. If we where to just up in leave it would only breed more terrorism and thousands of our Iraqi allies would be slaughtered. Those children of the slaughtered would loose hope, grow into hate, and thus breed more violence. It's an ugly cycle of hate but I believe we will overcome.

  • My dad is currently in Afghanistan, two years ago he was in Iraq - as much as I hate it the war was unavoidable. As far as everyone blaming Bush, he might have not been our finest President but in the end it was not Bush who sent us to war, it was congress. Everyone at the time was screaming for them to get our troops over there, war was a very popular idea, which is understandable - I mean we lost over 3,000 people in a matter of minutes.

  • Franti's music runs thru my blood!! This man is my life force.

  • Awesome- such poetic lyrics and sadly so true.

  • this is so beautiful.....

  • wow

  • Don't expect FOX news to tell you that its our outstandingly high military budget thats bankrupting the country.

  • @a1Drummer07 Good point

  • I love this song...I LOVE Michael Franti. He brings so much love and joy to this world. Thank you Michael. If you ever have the chance to see him live...GO. It's an awesome show to see. :) I love you!!

  • @sharlarooney I agree. I went to a John Mayer concert and he was the opening act. He had the room jumping! Very inspiring and TRUE artist. His songs speak!

  • Starting listening to this making a mix CD last night for my drive across NY tonight......it was on my bonnaroo mix CD I got at the gate or the Bonnaroo mix CD from Relix.......either way; good song. Saw him at Mountain Jam and was like....ok...he's not bad. Maybe I'll check out a whole album and see where it goes.

  • MICHAEL FRANTI YOU FUCKING TELL THOSE FUCKS HOW IT IS BRO!!!!!!!!

  • @50daysofnight HELL YES

  • We live in a sad time when videos like this get half a million views in 3 years and stupid crap like soulja boy and that Bieber junk get millions of views in days. People need to get a grip and take charge of their children. Life is too short to be out of touch.

  • @Sofullasole great point, keep spreading that insight

  • how many more need to sign up for the lies? reckless murderers.

  • Powerful song

  • If anyone hasn't seen him in concert, you absolutely have to. It is one of the most powerful experiences that you will ever be a part of. He really knows what he is talking about, and he brings you in with a smile and is there to help you know the truth.

  • @SophieAmazing Definitely agree, he is bloody amazing!! Defintely one of my favourite live acts !! :)

  • @JlMaley He should get an award or something.

I can't wait to see him again this summer.

  • @SophieAmazing YES!!!!

  • great lyrics +hot music =good receipe for loving michael franti

he was good in the 90ies , he's great now

he won't stop till his good is the better and his better is the best

  • The President currently has his hands tied with the worst economic catastrophe in our lifetime and providing healthcare to Americans. It may be selfish, but these interests take priority over concluding the wars (in a way that won't create civil anarchy in the economically fragile and important middle east).

  • @Jeetz

Obviously your knowledge of the President's schedule and priorities is far reaching, all encompassing and faultless.

Your president is a puppet public figure to much more powerful entities. He has his own benefactors to please while keeping you in a state of believing that we are doing "all we can".

The wars are for profit, Saddam was executed for convenience. Bush's body count makes saddam look pitiful, why don't we hang him?

  • Comment removed

  • IS IT TIME TO GO HOME???????

  • god damn good song

  • Anyone with this much insight into the reason for wars, should also realize Obama and Bush are playing on the same team. That's ok, we're all slowly waking up to the Matrix around us. Freedom for all people!

  • Obama has trippled the number of troops in Afghanistan and is now shifting position to delay withdrawl from Iraq.

    Where's Franti?

I dig that he had to be thrilled to see a "socio genetic experiment" (if you don't know Disposable Heroes, check them out before you judge that remark) become President. He's got a lot of history in common with Obama so I can see his indentification. But now it's time to focus on the acts of this President, and to understand that he serves the same master Bush did.

  • I like what this guy is saying then why'd he support Barack Obama who is doing exactly that keeping the troops in wars??!

  • ....and we're still at war...Time To Go Home

  • Americans don't know what culture they're living in. You need to wake up and travel around the world.

  • love michael franti? his album: everyone deserves music is on my channel as playlist

  • this speaks the truth. but revolution starts with the individual so this man is that individual but we need more prime citizens to fight the control that oppresses us im glad obamas in office and he is a god send compared to bush but he still is a part of the government its up to us to change the world remember it was the people who stoped veitnam and its up to us now to stop world wide blood shed

  • this is brilliant... very rare that i hear music with meaningful intentions nowadays...

  • yea i know... its getting too overboard. take a look at britneys new song she states "living in sin is the new thing" bunch of shit

  • im just sick and tired of all these kids not knowing any better saying "ooh i love this song!" well yeah fair enuff, you might love it, but only because its being drilled into yo fuckin skull every minute of every day!!!! makes me sick... a revolution is in order i think

  • you think right. A global revolution

  • @HipjamgdHop

at least not in the mainstream ...yet!!!

  • is that a j?

  • a joint

  • i love this song because it reminds me of my dad i love him and miss him time to go home:(

  • @confessor343 sorry

  • @confessor343 same with me!!my dad died when i was 7!!

  • Tell it good sir...Peace is not won with wars..too many scars are left where souls once stood..craters where there were homes..graves where there were fields...in the name of imperialism
