@areasevenpro If you hate having pointless holes at the back or at the sides of your gunpla, then I'll have to say that entry grade is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Otherwise, it's a fair line of cheap model kits made for youngsters. 3-color plastic (more or less), foil seals, different texture of plastic, no polycaps, extra bit of plastic on the model's antennae (this line was designed for "safety"), and poseability similar to that of the gundam seed 1/144 line.

@333444ize Actually, the First Grade kits have their strengths, and their uses.

The strength of these kits is that they're dirt cheap and they look really nice.. Better than the HGUCs. Mixing FG parts (backpack, beam saber handles, etc.) into a HGUC build can make for a nice little upgrade. Their low cost, simplicity, and great looks make them a great choice for dioramas, for instance. 10 Gundams vs. 10 Zakus, for instance? $60 in FG, or $200 in HG.

A little history about First Grade 1:144 model kits. These are based on a earlier line of 1:144 models which were also labeled as First Grades back when Gundam models were first made.

The new FG are more like update ver. of the old one. As mentioned, the new FGs has a similar to Perfect Grade sculpt and possible some new weapons. I think the original lacks a the beam saber or rifle.

Overall, sculpt is great and at cheap price you get a great looking Gundam. Old school action figure articulatio

@yauyuso No, the original kit lineup from the 1980s weren't called "First Grade". They were just "1:144 Gundam" and so on - "Grades" weren't introduced until the first HGs in the early 1990s.

First grades are hott - they're not really suitable for most Gundam builders' expectations these days, but they're dirt cheap and they look great (way better than HGUC anyway) They also make a good source of extra parts for other kits.

i hate first grades! theyre just so annoying to me. the only thing id use a 1st grade for is to build them, seal them, fill it with lighter fluid then light the outside on fire and watch what happens...

I would have to disagree the fact being that there is only one color can very much help if you want to learn to paint the high grade model make it easier because of there are more parts if you were to paint the entire kit. But they include stickers that will peal, paint can replace those sticker, and you can improve your painting by getting older and lower grade kits. just my opinon.

I totally agree. The FG's these days can't move their knees or elbows at all. In my opoinion, this is a cross between a HG and a FG. Besides, I could just spray paint the whole thing gold, and then I have a gold RX-78-2 Gundam Hyper Mode.

Wow it doesn't look that bad.I have three models that are bad, two you can say are really old that they require glue.One is a Guncannon and the other is a DOM.And I Have another is a 1/144 that require the use of a mini screwdriver and that is a NU-Gundam from char's counterattack.
