  • Now this is when MTV was MTV

  • Holy mackerel dude, this version is absolutely amazing. It really adds a different dimension to such a beautiful, classic song. Keep up the fantastic work!

  • The drums sound is similar to the original recording wow, nice.

  • @petefader Thank you Pete, I'm glad you liked them!

  • Awesome Solo's!!!

  • @benjamin387967 thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • HOLLY FUCKING SHIT, THIS IS AWESOME DUDE........ THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!!

i like the fact that you emphasize more on the bass during the chorus.... it sounds great....

  • @keleb121 You are welcome! Thank you for your encouraging comment. I'm glad that you enjoyed our version of the song. Take care!

  • just joking nice try guys its ok actually

  • haha, ok. Thanks man.

  • this is piss poor man i play guitar and drums and i could play them both at same time and make it sound better dude

  • Please do! Send me the video when you post it and I'll be sure to give you 5 stars.

  • as a drummer i really liked that part of it, dont let these clowns put u down. they have no idea what theyr talking about if they think thats bad drumming. u put a new spin on it and it sounds very good

  • Hey, thanks for checking it out. I'm glad you like this version. Take care!

  • Liar, why the fuck don't you just name your clip "Alive Cover by Me" and Ed on vocals(extracted off of the Rock Band vocal track)!! :(

If Pearl Jam sounded like this, i doubt they would be the legends they are today!!

  • cause that just wouldn't be as fun! Thanks for watching anyway!

  • wow, this is so wrong they shouldnt do this

  • no kreo k sea la verdadera ya k tiene errores en algunos cortes

  • grandissimii!!!!!!!!!!!!1 pearl jam!!!

  • i mean "style"

  • how dave abbruzzese can kill a song

  • the guitar sound like crap compared to the original version! The even flow remastered version is quite ok though...

  • so it really disapoints me when people don't understand what the point was here. he wasn't trying to "be pearl jam" he was taking an amazing song, and playing along with it. the point of this video was to have fun, to enjoy great music, and i'm pretty damn sure he got that done.

sorry for all the discouragement you're gettin bro, keep playin :D

  • @RHCPfanEnIgMa pEARL jAM THATS RIGHT YOUR STILL ALIVE AND WILL NEVER BE 4 GOTTEN eDDIE vETTER

  • Its all wrong! NO GOOD! Its not the sound Pearl Jam is known for.

  • jeff ament always said the original mix of ten had too much reverb.

but that's what gave the album a stratospheric, ethereal quality. the remasters are useless to me.

  • no no no no no...

  • Argh! I so hate remasters. This is quite ok, but anyway..

  • this is some twat playin guitar badly alongside the song an passin it off as a pearl jam remix..get the fuck out of here.

  • well, it is a remix...so there's nothing misleading about that. Nothing was played alongside...the drums and guitar were totally re-done. I'm sorry that you feel that way.

  • the guitar sounds choppy its stupid why change something that was already so good

  • What exactly is the difference between the original Ten that came out in 1991 and the remastered version (i.e CD-1 from the legacy album) ?? Which one sounds better ? I tried to listen to sample songs on amazon, but could not figure out the difference.

I am interested in the original songs from Ten, I do not really care about any remixed versions (i.e CD-2 from the legacy edition). which one should I buy, the original Ten or the legacy edition?

  • They just remixed everything, so it is going to sound louder now that engineers are in the loudness war. So maybe it sounds more "modern" or digital? I like the original mixes...I didn't think they improved anything. I'd just buy their new stuff if you're that much of a fan...Honestly Pearl Jam should have hung it up awhile go...

  • nah why hang it up if u love what u are doing u seen any live vids look at the fun they have on stage and they still sounds great !

  • Well, maybe not hang it up, but at least do like Radiohead and stop charging people for your music!!

  • They are still filling arenas and putting on great shows. They also still make great music.Maybe you don't agree but to say they shouldn't charge for their music is ludicrous. They obviously love playing music and are one of the best if not the best band when comes to pleasing their fans. Also why post a video of a band then bash them.Whats the point?

  • I'm not bashing them, I fully support their album "Ten" and its remix!!! I can't honestly say that I like their new stuff and I know I'm not alone. Can't I at least be honest?

  • i agree.. thier new stuff is deffinetly weak and doesn't really grasp hold of the listener and make them start shaking thier head and tapping thier feet like thier 90's stuff did.

    Ten was a good album.

But their newer stuff is like they are coming down from thier 90's high and going into a post 2000's detox of shitty / mainstream music.

  • Yeah, Ten was a great album. One of the best in my opinion.

  • cmon man,hang it up,what?

  • The Original.

It was such a good album.. the thought they could remix it and boost it for sales again..

  • Legacy, the songs arent remixed that much, they're just clearer, vedders vocals come over more crisp above the music, the bass is more defined also...

Legacy also has a few new songs on it, including 'Brother' which imo, and many other peoples, is a great single

Hope that helps...try 'Vitalogy' and 'Pearl Jam' also if you're a new listener...

Their new album is out on September the 9th..

  • They arent really remixed. They are remastered, meaning that the sound has just been cleared up so its clearer. If you notice there is a crapload of reverb in Ten because they really went into a studio for a week to record it.

A simple distinction is that in the intro when the drums come it, it sounds pretty crappy on the original and unclear, the remastered it actually sounds like drums drumming, and the bass is more prominent the original.

Its tough to explain but I hope this helps.

  • i cudnt agree with u more!well explained =) was this dave krusen on drums?man he is good!!!

  • Its all remixed differently, you can tell, even the timing is off. Try playing them both at the same time, you can tell. The new version is kind of missing that edge, sounds too clean in my opinion.

  • ohh btw i shared the video on facebook and EVERYONE LOVE IT! YOU GUYS ARE ROCK. keep it up >>>>

  • wow, thanks. That was very nice of you! I appreciate it!

  • i love the drums from the 3:30 mark to the end, kicks ass, man great job, i crank it up every time

  • Well thank you very much! That is quite a compliment. I appreciate it, take care!

  • all i can say about it is "JUST AWESOME".

  • not a fan of the drum track on here, too tight, but i like the idea and it sounds pretty good

  • i didn't even notice it was different, i think that its just as good as the original, great job!

  • thanks! I appreciate the compliment. take care!

  • This was posted on my b-day !

I love PJ and Alive is one of the best songs ever

This version is pretty good too even if prefer the original ( the drums at the end are cool)

  • Awesome! I guess it is a belated birthday gift now... Thanks for checking it out. Glad you liked it!

  • i dont like the mix, but the final drums are cool, and the guitar solo amazing...

  • thanks for the input! Drums are mine...guitar solo is same as the original....so I'm glad you liked it!

  • wait...................you're in Pearl Jam? Or is this just a really good cover band? Cause I know some cover bands sound exactly like the band, like 2U. Theyre obviously a U2 cover band. The singer sounds EXACTLY like Bono. And he looks EXACTLY like him too.

  • Ha, no. I'm not in Pearl Jam, although that would be cool. We just covered the song and used Eddie's vocals from the studio files....and the lead guitar solo. So it's not all us.

  • oh, lol. It sounds awesome.

  • Well thanks!

  • man i really did like the mix that you guys did , was agood spin on a classic like, keep it going guys

  • Thank you very much. We appreciate it! We hope to do a few more covers, so stay tuned....

  • its people like you that make me want to commit suicide. this is a recent recording of alive, sung by eddie vedder and played by the rest of pearl jam, not a fuckin cover.

  • actually the guitar was played by my friend and I played the drums. If you watch to the end you will see that....

  • well shows how much of an idiot i am and how good of musicians you guys are haha. Sorry!

  • ha, no! You're not an idiot. It's my fault, I intentionally made the video misleading so you wouldn't know it was us until the very end. So I guess I tricked you...so sorry! But thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it!

  • I don´t like it :(

  • Look at McCready aping SRV in the video, haha love it. The mix isn't too bad either. Don't like the interlude before the final verse too much though, sounds odd with the guitars dropped so much.

  • Yeah...we pretty much left it to bass and drums, just trying to make it a bit different. But glad you like the mix. Thanks!

  • hey... Why mcready's guitar appears until the solo?????

  • Couldn't quite pull off the solo as good as the original so we left it in!

  • not as good as the orginial, but its still cool

  • yeah, never as good as the original

  • i actually like the remastered/compressed version of this awsome cd. it sounds far better than the original at loud volumes.

  • What the fuck is this?

  • half Pearl Jam half Ivanrest!

  • hey mate, any idea where I could download this version?

    cheers!

  • Well, just for you (since you're the first person to ask), I provided a link to download this Ivanrest version of the song in the video info on the right. Enjoy!

  • aww.. just for me! .. i feel so special !! .. and pretty ..!

lol .. thanks a ton mate!

  • haha, I probably should have put that link there in the first place, but you're welcome!

  • its diffrent the notes on guatar are longer than the origanal but its still good i ike the first one better though

  • Yeah, you can never beat the original. But thank you for the comment!

  • this is not the remastered version this is live dummies

  • nope....you must not have watched till the end.

  • oh sorry its cuz the title is misleading, so i didnt watch it till the end cause it didnt sound like the remastered one i have so i thought it was fake of something, sorry.......

  • Yeah, sorry. I meant for it to be more of a surprise but it is misleading. Hopefully it sounded close enough to the real thing.

  • your a fucking goon you dumb ass its not live!

  • and as for you who asked for your comment...not me, later dick slurpping bombo rass fuck

  • sorry but i noticed a huge difference and its not good. well nowhere near as good as the original. intro just seemed way off and you muted alot of the rythm parts for some reason.

  • is anything ever as good as the original? You're the first person to notice some missing parts...yeah, we just had fun with it and put our own touch on it. Sorry you don't like it!

  • ok, well A Day to Remember's version of Since U Been Gone is better than the original...but it's rare...

  • you can´t touch the main riff of alive, you blew it.

  • Why fix it if it aint broke?

  • ah.....I was looking forward to hearing your own spin on the solo, instead you just let Mike handle it.

  • I know! We were thinking about it but just couldn't come up with anything as good. Sorry...

  • austin6229 this is cameron style bud..that s why..i don t really like him..i really liked dave krusen and dave abbruzesse

  • sounds dam good pal! however the main riff is very oddly played, different form what stone does

  • Thank you very much! Yeah, we kind of put our own style into it, but it was fun to do. We did the same thing for Smashing Pumpkins and we're working on a Rise Against song.

  • drums sounded weird..

  • damn .. Love Pearl Jam.. they were so much better before the "Neil Young" era.

  • good job man. What Recording System Did U Use??

  • Thank you very much. I used Pro Tools LE.

  • ?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿??¿?¿¿?¿?

  • could have tune the toms better.

  • Cool both the irony and the vid...

  • Thanks. Glad you liked it!

  • This is the version from the original Mamasan demo Stone and Jeff sent to Eddie. Matt on drums and Mike on lead.

  • Ha, I'm sorry to be so misleading. It's actually me on drums. I thought more people would get it by the end. When I made this video I had no idea there was an actual remastered version coming out.... Kind of funny how that worked out.

  • i like the remastered versions but i dunno nothing beats the OG cd for me

  • i think that "remastered" it's not the right term for this, "Re-Recorded" is... the whole song sounds waaaaayyy slower than the real release....

  • it's actually exactly the same tempo...played with the original bass line and vocals. The remastered version is just remixed with slightly different compression for 21st century audio tastes (i.e. slamming the meters to the ceiling).

  • but yes....partially re-recorded would be a better title for my video

  • Honestly....why? It was the perfect song. Leave it alone unless you're doing MTV Unplugged

  • well, because people usually enjoy watching each other cover popular bands...

  • GO TOUCH HIS DICK

  • you are not playing right the main riff

  • yea different...

but i've need some time this.. i'm to us to the Rick Parashar mix...

  • NICE!!!! Although I prefer the drums that Dave Abbruzzese's did for this song. He just gave Pearl Jam a whole different feel & groove in my opinion on both albums he did with them.

  • Those were the good days of Pearl Jam. I don't know what happened to them since... Yield wasn't a bad album, but nothing like their first stuff.

Yeah, I probably put too many fills in...but I guess that's why the band never hired me for the job!

  • and Jeff is why i got into playing a fretless bass.

  • legendary!!!

  • Guitar track sound crap.... too dominant

  • agreed

  • just sounds like u added ur own guitar track?

  • and drums!

  • M E H.

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah this is awesome!! Amazing job!! :D

  • is this the actual Alive that will come out on the remastered Ten album in March?

  • nope, this one is actually the remixed and remastered version available from no one other than Wild Bill himself...

  • c oiol

  • I'd know those toms anywhere, kit sounded awesome, nice guitar too. How many snare layers on this one? Ha!

  • aw, darn. You mean I didn't fool you? I layered the piccolo back on top of itself. The bass guitar is thick in this song which made it hard to cut through... so I compromised with the snare. The toms are all natural though!

  • excelent man very good job

great job bill!also the guitarist did a great job

    the video rocks!!

    see ya

  • What can I say Bill? You and your fellow Musician who's name I missed [Please forgive me], have blown me with this performance, and most awesome Videography. Hopefully I used that properly? LOL Anyways, you guys rocked and your musicianship as always is just incredible...

    Much Love and Semper Phi,

    Buzz

  • That was awesome Bill, your drumming was way better than the original, it's too bad I don't like Pearl Jam though.

  • Thanks Ken, I agree. Pearl Jam went downhill fast after their album Ten. The 90s sure were great!

  • Downhill fast?! Please come out with an album as vs then... or no code!! I'll buy it! and I think you'd enter in the history of rock! ...

  • I think Wishlist is a GREAT song...so there are a few, but Ten was a solid album all-around.

  • You rock Bill! I hope the video doesn't get removed from Youtube's Bloody Anti Copyright infringement tirade they are on now.

  • Hey Eric, thanks! Good to hear from you. Yes, YouTube has been on the prowl lately. I'm sure you get a lot of heat with all of the videos you have posted. Do they attack your collabs ever? I only wish the record labels would recognize that this is FREE advertising for them.

  • So far they haven't attacked our collaborations yet! *knock on wood* But my solo videos have been massacred. I think somewhere between 15-20 have been killed. I know, it's ridiculous why they don't keep them. They should just do what they did on my "Thanks for the Memories" video. They just put a button at the bottom of the video that says, "Click here to buy this MP3 from Itunes!" Makes a lot more sense that they would do that than remove the entire thing. Jerks. :P Have you been hit?

  • 15-20!!! Wow. That is horrible. They did the mp3 advertisement on my 3 Doors Down video. Seems like a great compromise to me. Unfortunately they attacked my Avenged Sevenfold video. From now on I just do their "audio swap" and leave viewers a message that they can download the original video from a link in the video description....which is probably also illegal for me to do....but I don't think they have time to police that. Record labels should be dead soon anyway...

  • I just counted. 16 officially, provided I didn't miss one. Yeah, I love the "Link to buy" idea. I don't like to do the audio swap since it PERMANENTLY changes it. No going back after that. I've done it a few times but now regret it.

    Bastards! :P

  • Dang, that is a lot. I only swap the audio to keep the comment board up and still come up in people's searches. Then I put annotations in the video as negative publicity for Warner Brothers or whoever is responsible. Then it is transparent for anyone who stumbles on the video to see that some record labels are screwing their fans. I know I'll never buy from Warner again...

  • Great job Bill it sounds great.

  • don't get any better than that. very good

  • dude you're awesome, great post =)

  • yes, you have to watch until the end.

  • How did you edit out the origional drummer?

  • I have the original files from the studio. The only thing original is Eddie Vedder.

  • Where did you find the origional files?

  • Very nice man. I loved Pearls' first drummer. Too bad I cant stand the current one, although he was GREAT in Sound Garden.

  • I was just thinking that exact thought just today. I was cruisin' around listening to Superunknown and forgot how great he really is. Pearl Jam isn't really the forum for Matt Cameron's skills. He's too repetitive and predictable with them. In SG he's the MOST unpredictable drummer. But you can't really turn the Pearl Jam drummer gig down when you're original band ain't there no more...

  • Forgot to rate ya. 5stars blinging...

  • Thanks man! Appreciated.

  • No problem.

  • second comment! :)

  • Nice sound man,is that u? It sounds like it.Would have rather seen u play it though, still good jamming.
