I've had my keeper for 3 years now. I clean it with hydrogen peroxide. I also safety pin luna pads in my underwear to catch any drips because I flow heavy. I love it. so much nicer than giving the man my money every month.
i cant use cups--- because of a birth defect with my hymen...
but i have recently switched to cloth pads and they are soooo much better !! and much more absorbent than those disposables, especially for girls like me with heavy flows..
thanks for your vid
but i would also like to add... im not sure its healthy to have sex with the cup in you...
South Coast Shopping (find it on the web at southcoastshopping dot com) has the Diva Cup on sale for only $16.99! This is the lowest price I've seen. Just search for Diva Cup.
I LOVE my divacup. It is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I can use my pretty underwear, I have never ever leaked and I cant feel it at all, I cange it when I wake up in the morning and before I go to bed. I love it, everyone should have one, I wish that they advertized.
thank you soo much for this! I enjoyed the background music! It would be extra fun to have visuals with all the numbers you give.. im not suggesting anything, im just saying im curious to see a representative amount bc those are such HUGE numbers! thanks again, very informative. i love my divacup. I really want to get/make some cloth pads. the only prob is my divacup leaks? also lunette makes one especially for virgins/younger girls.
Hey, this is a great video. Its good to teach people about alternatives to the standard products. Ive written a diary entry on my mooncup (on a different, unrelated website) and i was overwhelmed by the positive reaction i had so im trying to give back some of that support. on a slightly "technical note" i liked the backing music but thought it made it a little difficult to hear what you were saying at times.
I just want to say Good for you! I think it's great you made this video. So many women out there just have no clue that there is any thing but disposables.
I've been happily using cloth of some sort or another for the past 12 years. I've also ordered a mooncup and I'm expecting it any day now. :-)
At least I didn't suggest you use baby socks to replace tampons, which some people do (although I don't). Reduce, reuse and recycle is all I'm sayin'.
Great topic! The sponge "tampons" (Jade & Pearl) are a good alternative if the cups aren't comfortable (like for people who have a tilted cervix, like me). They don't last as long (maybe a year), but they're totally biodegradable.
Great idea for a Hope Vid (by the way ive watched all of your vids up to this). I have a mooncup (UK) but im still trying to get the hang of it so to speak but i think the concept is great...and great for the enviro!!!
Cool video (I'm not quite done yet), but you cannot have penetrating sex with a reusable menstrual cup. They sit too low in the vagina. I believe Insteads is the name of a disposable cup (not the same shape) that sits higher up, so it is okay to have penetrating sex. Oral, on the other hand, is just fine!
Great vid! I'm an advocate for menstrual cups as well. I've mentioned this option to my friends, some of whom have a very high squick factor when dealing with touching their own parts. GASP! Yeah, I'm from the States too. From chatting online, I've found most women in other countries have no problem with that aspect.
Thanks for posting this video, I'm including the URL on my LJ (theoldcatlady DOT livejournal DOT com)
There's some pics. Just take out all of question marks. htt? p:?//community.livejournal.?com/menstrual_cups/453392.html
I use a Mooncup UK and the DivaCup(I love them both). The lunette company just came out with a smaller size. It's smooth and the stem isn't hollow. You can ask for a sample cup(not useable) by writing to any of the companies.
I liked that video. There's also a MoonCup UK (not made by keeper but the keeper company decided to use the same name so they could steal business) Another is a lunette from finland. All the cups come in 2 different sizes. There's different folds you can use to insert your cup. ww w .menstrualcups. org
I have heard of a few of these products before. Always wondered if I knew someone who had tried and tested them out. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences! I had a lot of questions about these alternatives, and you hit on a lot of them!! :)

Mooncup UK was made before Moon cup by Keeper, so they could have thought of a different name...
And there is also the Lunette that you did not mention here, but I have heard many nice things about it too :)

I love my Divacup. I've had it a year and saved so much money already. Plus, I feel better wasting way less packaging.
Also, no leaks! No leaks ever, it is even better than tampons. Plus, I can leave it in a lot longer.
And the best NO RISK OF TSS!

Which one do you have? I'm interested in trying the Lunette one day. I can't imagine different ways of folding them though, they're already so small.
