How many of them have good business connections? In sunni countries, shia often live with far fewer privileges. Their holidays are not observed. The only ones that are protesting are Shia and they make up less than10% of the population. Sure they have Sunni supporters, but not enough to threaten the monarchy.

@helix4811 Its so easy to make shit up on the internet eh? Their are official survey's every year. Al Qatif's total population excluding foreigners is 100,000. Saudi Arabia's population is 28,000,000.. That is 0.37%

Whoa whoa, what's with the hostility? I'm not saying that there is gonna be a revolution in Saudiyya, actually, like i previously stated, the only ones that are protesting are the Shia, who're a minority, so I very much doubt the Arab spring is gonna come to Saudi Arab.
Also, I don't really trust any government in the world to tell the truth about it's national demographics, that includes Saudi Arabia. Maybe i worded it wrong, I should have said a PROPER official survey.

The reality is that the American govt's support of almost any regime is first and foremost based on interests. The elephant in the room is oil. Without SA's enormous oil reserves and America's insatiable appetite for it, there would be no reason for the US support of this corrupt regime. I know people have a need to stir up emotions and say the US is all about supporting "evil" regimes, but that is extremely superficial & simplistic.
