yes you stop your archers firing when your units engage the enemy - unless ofcourse you don't mind killing and equal number of enemies and your own soldiers :\
Routing soldiers are best hunted down with light cavalry. but routing enemy cavalry is always going to get hard to catch.
If you keep some light calvary in reserve and not wasting energy in fighting you can chase down the more valuable heavy calvary. Thats how I nab routing generals all the time

i could easily win this siege on hard with only suffering 100 - 150 casualties... possibly even less than that
Their infantry are great, but their not as well rounded as the Germans. I like playing as both but with the Danes you have to avoid fighting the Germans and to take all those rebel settlements & the Norweigans. With the Germans, all you have to do is fight the Danes on up, so its easier.
It's useless to separate the army in a siege, because when you breache anywhere, the enemy retire his men over the main plaza, so it's enough to breach in near the main gates so you can put your man in front of the gates behind the walls and you'll intercept all the men that will retire from the walls...

you know the create_unit cheat? well, when you try to create a unit that has more than one name (like Dismounted Feudal Knights) it doesn't recognise the unit type, i know you have to be availible for recrution, but the cheat can't do it, how can you create the units with more than one name?
zarconianmushroom, to answer your question: to follow the trebuchet shots you simply press Delete when the unit is selected. It works with all missile units.

Well I'm not Attila but I am an avid Medieval 2 Total War player and may be able to answer your question. I would have to say either get a new video card (Medieval 2 is a very demanding game) or go through the graphics settings and lower them till the game is running to your satisfaction.

i could of ended this fight in about 5 minuts attila took his time by putting his army far apart and your arows sucked should of sent more men to atak the walls enyways this was good but not good compared to your ohter vitorys

People rarely get hit by arrows when their on the walls, and you can choose to set them on fire which is less accurate by highly demoralizing.

destroy them im one of your saved grand campaigns with another faction then save and get out of the whole game and get back in then u should be able to play them

A tip: just after you got the enemy front gate and the wall you should put your archers on the wall to help the ground forces.

i dont have mtw 2 but in the 1st one, if you right clicked on a unlit that was shooting, you could choose to "follow 'projectliles"

i could of ended this fight in about 5 minuts attila took his time by putting his army far apart and your arows sucked should of sent more men to atak the walls enyways this was good but not good compared to your ohter vitorys
