Their is way to update all ios devices to ios 5 by going to this site ios5activate (dot) com. i used it on my iphone and ipad , their really quick and explain in detail how to do it successfully. They activate your udid so that their will be no problems updating and its approved by apple. Its the best option as ios 5 doesnt come out until this fall and you can get all the cool features now for cheap.

@gabrielwow1 I'm also looking for a way... right now there is no public jailbreak, so hacking the system files (how many of us got into 4.3 beta) won't work :( I'll be sure and keep this updated though.
@iPodTouchGenie Nope, it is empty, I am currently trying to downgrade back to ios 4.3. The status bar has absolutely nothing, if there was a way to make any type of notification pop up, this would actually work.
Thanks for this. but now I want to restore my iphone and i can't. it says i need to install itunes 10.5, but when I try to update my itunes(10.3) it prompts me that your version of itunes is the current version! any suggestion?

i was able to get IOS 5 on my iPod Touch 3gen but when i plug it in to itunes it says it's unable to complete the activation and i cant sync.
How do i get around this?

@iomid You need to download it manually. This link will get you the installer:
