can someone please tell me what im doing wrong!. Ive made sure the card is secure and in properly, ive installed the new drivers and dissabled the onboard graphics. Yet still my screen still says 'no signal' when I turn on the comp with the card in. Take the card out and the monitor works fine again? wtf. please can someone help me, ive been trying to install this for days. Its driving me insane!!
@MrDeano324 Do you get any video on the display, such as the system post splash screen or other post messages? Perhaps the graphics card is outputting a signal that is beyond the monitor you are using. Too high of a resolution or too high of a refresh rate. If you see things on the display until windows starts, adjust the settings for the graphics card using Windows Safe Mode. If you get beeps at start up there may be a problem with the card or it is not appropriate for your computer
where can i find out what graphics card if best for my Asus desktop? I've tried looking on the Asus website and didn't find any information that could help me but maybe i was looking in the wrong place could someone please help me.
@daxeflame Crysis is an extremely graphically demanding game, therefore I would suggest RAM of a greater magnitude than two gigabytes (four or more would probably be fine) and make sure that the video card has well over 512MB of system memory. Even with those specs, you should try running Crysis at a lower resolution.
if i have an integrated graphics card do i go to device manager, then display adaptors, then disable it?or uninstall its drivers because when i install my 9400gt that i just got and install the cd software it still doesnt work it just goes back to using my integrated instead fo the card i just put in...and ill mention that i disabled the integrated both in the bios and in the device manager/display adaptors
@TheOwnageburst haha LOL i had same problem and guess what i did? i went to buy it with my dad not mom and it worked fine and now i play gta 4 without any lag so go with your DAD?
I got a Dell XPS 420 a couple weeks ago, I decided to buy a eVGA 9800gtx separately (and I had to get a new power supply). When me and my dad (who does IT) tried to install the card last night it would not fit correctly. Is my card compatible with the XPS 420?
can you have like your old graphics card, and your new graphics card together so you can have like a split screen, or do you need to buy a card with the two vga outputs? i have a gateway model gt5468 and my processor is Genuine Intel and i have a dual core. i really hope you can help me please, also what card would you recommend me to buy, i'd like to have a split screen like two screens at a time. thank you for your time.
Different motherboards have different configurations and combinations of interfaces.
AGP was an interface designed specifically for graphics cards and has widely been replaced by PCI-e. Most motherboards with PCI-e won't have an AGP slot anymore.
Older computers may only have PCI for graphics (pre-AGP). PCI graphics cards are also popular for adding a 2nd graphics card, though today's graphics cards have eliminated the need.
i got team fortress 2 for my pc and whenever i open it up it says i dont have directX 9 installed. @MrDeano324 Do you put the monitor on the videocard or on the motherboard?
Coz some people think that they can use the same monitor slot from the motherboard when they installed the graphics card.
UnstoppableCornflake 4 months ago
LOL! He showed 2 pci cards. This is because pci slots can have different keyings, which is common.

are you suppost to boot from the cd with the drivers after the graphics card installation or can you just start the pc up and put in the driver cd?
janmartin94 2 years ago
No, every computer has to have one. So no, in no way will it slow down your computer. If anything it should speed it up.

Hello, I have a problem.
I have a dedicated graphics card and i want to change it to an nvidia geforce 8600gt
I opened up my computer and everything but when i remove my graphics card from its
slot there's a cable or wire of some sort connected from the video card to the motherboard.
I tried pulling it gently but to no avail...Do you suggest pulling it out? I don't know if it has a lock or something...but i doubt there is.

PCI can also used with other peripherals (sound cards, network cards...).
PCI-e is rapidly replacing AGP and PCI as the capabilities are far greater.
