Can you please upload "Hopelessly devoted to you" If you have it. I want to see how she sings it, I'm auditioning for Sandy and she's such an inspiration :) x
@lossie101 i would if i could! since "hopelessly devoted to you" isn't in the show originally, we didn't include it in ours! the only time it's ever been in the show professionally is for the 07 revival, but was before that, so i apologize! break a leg with your audition though!
@Rinzilla09 in the stage musical it is rizzo making fun of sandy at the park with everyone watching. this is the reprise in the stage show. like inthe movie when sandy sees them win the race and is singing this (in her head)
Awesome job! I'm Rizzo in my school's play, and personally I feel you are a little better emotionally than the Sandy in my school's, about equal talent though (BOTH AWESOME BTW!)
I'm playing Sandy right now, and I think in this song she doesn't quite know where and who she is. She has been having troubles with Danny the entire show, and she knows she must change. The whole show Dannys trying to change for her, and now she knows its her turn. I don't know why some people think her whole "change" at the end is bad because when Danny tries to turn jock he's changing for her. Well, thats just my perspective on it so yea:)
Hey, I'm Kim Panek, the girl that played Sandy and I just wanted to share my perspective on how I perceived this song to be. Sandy loves who she is, but because she is in love, realizes she needs to change. She doesn't want to change, but sometimes we have to make sacrifices for love. She feels she can still be strong on the word "cry" but then breaks towards the end, because she realizes its going to be hard to do. Plus it's how I was directed :] thanks everyone for all your comments!!
Eh, belting does not contradict Sandy's character what so ever, especially not here. True, the classic sound of Sandy is mostly associated with a mix voice, like Olivia Newton John's and even Susan Wood's in the revival, but in this scene Sandy is transforming from goodie, pure girl, to edgier, tough Sandy... that should be portrayed in the vocals, and I think it is quite well. Just my opinion.
actually, i agree with themask person, because the classic is so soft, and sandy is supposed to be soft and serene, and even tho its just before she turns into the bad girl, the song doesnt seem right with the belting at the end. sorry. other than that, great singing
I guess the belting thing is a matter of perception, and direction. This was actually my second time playing Sandy. The first time I played it, I didn't belt at all, and sang the high note as the softest note in the song, and the second time, I belted it, then sort of broke down.. realizing who I needed to become, someone I was not. If you think of it, Grease is a really sad message. To get someone you want you have to change all you are. That's when she realized it.
AMAZING!!!!

she shouldnt be crying, cause in the movie Sandy is happy cause she is gonna change for Danny
sealakamorgan 3 years ago 2
yes but this isn't the movie , it's the stage version and in this stage show this should be the most moving moment
Matty3Mite3 3 years ago 4
in the play, she just got used by Rizzo or something (cant remember it was a while ago when i saw it) so yah she was sad
hbkisazombie 3 years ago
probably she was scared that Danny might not like her change or she doesnt know what to expect, plus Sandy is very naive so she'd cry.
