  • The flute just screams 60's.....Love it

  • I love the part in Dumb and Dumber when Lloyd is looking through the playlist of songs and says, "They got the Monkees.. they were a major influence on the Beatles." hahaha

  • THEY DID'NT MONKEY WITH THIS HIT LOL

  • @sutonchef you spelled "monkee" wrong

  • @sutonchef hahahahhahaahha boooooooooo

  • so they are lip synching to there own voices, which is different from today's musicians how?

  • @SpankyMcnugget These guys make an effort.

  • @forgingiron123 Where's the video u said u wud make?

  • @SpankyMcnugget In that neither their music NOR their voices were loud, obnoxious, annoying, wimpy-ass, wavering fucking shit. :-)

  • The Monkees had some of the best song writers Hollywood could buy.

  • ええ曲や~

  • best song. ever.

  • Homecoming When celebrated by schools, the activities vary widely. However, they usually consist of a football game played on a school's home football field, activities for students and alumni, a parade featuring the school's marching band and sports teams, and the coronation of a Homecoming Queen (and at many schools, a Homecoming King). A dance commonly follows the game.

  • Best alarm song ever.

  • I'm a Brit... ...what the hell is 'a home-coming queen'? Is it something to do with a gay person finally being accepted by his family?

  • @MikeMuk1 he said, what can it mean to a day dream beliver "and" a home coming queen.

its something about high school prom, but IDK i didnt make it out of 9th grade...

  • @MikeMuk1 lmao dude you're hilarious. Well it's explained a few comments after yours by Wellch. For the record I didn't attend high school in the states either and didn't know anything about that stuff until I saw it in all those teen movies(as well as some tv shows)

  • Totally brlliant !!!

  • do you guys never get tired of the same comments being on the top?

  • Cheer up steve bruce!

  • believe it dont, song was written by john stewart of kingston trio. monkees were first to perform/ record the song.

  • stilll love the monkees after all these years!

maria in sweden. i totally agree with babypink912!

  • Hi, to all the naysayers? look they may have not written the song but they sure as Fk sang it, and sang it well, so much that it is a musical legendary song!! I remember coming home from school and watching the Monkeys on TV, now I listen to You tube, thankfully I can recall some teenage memories from it. Again the song may not be written by them, but I don't give a fk, it sounds great and is timeless. If your looking for something else, move on MF!

  • I LOVE THE MONKEES

  • best part: 0:00 - 3:00

  • marge S loved the monkeys! hurrah for rebellion and political upheaval!

  • i liked this to make it 1000 likes :)

love the monkees for life <3

  • @pucksterz12 .....Your daughter is a 10 teen ,I am a 70 teen .

....If our families met at ,say ,a wedding dance with this music playing ,we two teen's could dance just fine .

....That's who The Monkees are .

....What a sensible girl you have .

  • I think I am one of them

  • this is REAL music all this new rap crap is complete bs! Monkees, Beatles etc ftw!

  • @Yugiohguy987 nah man, this shits awesome but you gotta have appreciation for everyones talents, music develops through the years and becomes something new pretty much every decade.

  • 9 people just couldn't cheer up.

  • the years of sixty were very good so i was born at those years you know it ?

  • My teenage daughter loves this song but have no idea who or what The Monkeys are.

  • @pucksterz12 tell your daughter to facebook me, she has great taste. nah im kidding but you should listen to them!!

  • :) This song makes me want to skip in a field of flowers!

  • VIVA OS ANOS 60!!!

  • The Monkees were more of a REAL band than many of today's faked manufactured auto-tuned bands.

  • @Wellch

yes, definitely, but if i recall correctly, the monkees were a made-for-TV band that didn't even write their own songs. so technically, they were somewhat manufactured. however, they are still amazing and i love their stuff -- in the end, i guess it doesn't matter who wrote the song but what the end product sounds like, and the monkees created one hell of an end product. :)

  • @Wellch all music is good

  • @Wellch what does it matter, if the music is good. it moves your soul!

    not no nigger music!

  • @Wellch Yeah, it's funny how even the very first 'manufactured image' band was talented to an extent. Then things got crazy.

  • @Wellch Sorry, but for the first several albums, The Monkees almost never played any instruments. They provided most of the vocals only and acted out the part in the TV series. The musical duties, as in most popular music in those days, was made by top notch studio musicians, many of whom are featured in the documentary "The Wrecking Crew".

  • @Wellch the monkees were fake and manufactured as well, so whatever attempt you made at being clever, has failed. Fake bands existed in 20th century, they exist now and they will exist until music stops being relevant, so stop complaining.

  • @Chudsic Nice one troll, you might as well say that Mercury's voice was fake.

    Lies, lies everywhere.

  • @Chudsic Uh, yeah, well, see the DIFFERENCE is that Monkees didn't totally fucking SUCK. :-)

  • @Wellch ummmm, you might want to do some research, the Monkee's were formed from an ad in in the Hollywood rag Variety, they had never met before starting their show, the epitome of a "manufactured" band

  • @sirwob i think therein lies the point of his comment

  • @andydaking1 point taken...ty

  • I don't think all the drug use was ugly, i know if i could go back intime and take lsd again i would...I woud make the same *mistake* twice..because it truely was a mind altering experience...But i think the movement got sidetracked and run over...

The monkees being a fake band makes sense...it is an idealistic image they were selling...the end result is what is important...

Me, i havent given up hope for a eutopia, life isnt worth living without dreams so my attitude is fuck it :)

  • This song captures the innocence and optimism of the EARLY 60s before things got ugly. I am 31 so i missed the 60s..I wish i could take a timemachine.....

  • @justvisiting1979 Good tune, but these guys were the original Milli Vanilli lol They were a fake band created for a tv show. They didn't write the music

  • @Standard420247 Actually, to refer to them as the "original Milli Vanilli" is not at all accurate. While, true enough, the Monkees are clearly lip-syncing, they are at least lip-syncing to their own voices. When Milli Vanilli lip-synced, they lip-synced to someone else's voice. They did not even sing their own songs and that's what actually got them into trouble.

  • @justvisiting1979 What do you mean by ugly btw? I hope you aren't talking about "drug use" as the "ugly" part of your statement, because the 60's is where it and hope for a different world began. It's a shame the generation after them got brainwashed into thinking their movement was wrong in some way.

  • The monkeys were a big influence on the Beatles you know, lol. I love this band. I wish this kind of music was still played on the radio. Too much music about drugs, sex and degrading of women nowadays. And that comes from a guy who's only 30!

  • Thanks chkjns will do :-)

  • I loved this song when i was 5 and still love it!!

  • @swazibabe The ghosted out vid of this tune had 2.3 million hits! So Iv'e added this back to my 1967 playlist. I was TWICE your age back then! My channel, thanks to the uploaders is a musical time machine with playlists for every year since 1900. Stop by & relive the music of the past. And I've got 650 more playlists besides those. And I've still got the Monkees first album in my collection. chuck

  • ht

  • anybody wants to listen to this?

a german version of daydream believer written for the german scoccer team werder bremen

just search for "wir sind werder bremen - Afterburner"

  • Manufactured for a TV show or not, I still like them and their songs more than the Beatles and theirs.

  • Almost as good as the Beatles

  • @Lewis95xp

    EXACTLY :]

  • @infinera06 Agreed- "I'm a Believer" was number "1" for many months and it is in the top 50 of may lists for greatest song in pop history- the truth is although a manufcatured band- The Monkees had a lot of chemistry and although they did not write their own songs- Mickey Dolenz (drummer) and Davy Jones (lead singer / tambourine) had two of the best voices of the era.

Trust me- The Monkees would get a lot of radio air time during the 60's...I was there...;)

  • I still love the Monkees. How can one not? They were just so damned cute! No shame at all in the songbook left behind!

  • Neil Diamond wrote this song as he did with A Little Bit Me and I'm a Believer and originally sang them too. This is a great song as well as the other ones. Did you know that Davy Jones guest starred in Hey Arnold as himself when Arnold and guy friends with their dads went fishing?

  • @jazzalex22 Don't tell John Stewart about Neil Diamond writing this song. Stewart believes this to be his composition.

    Regards,

    Wiltent

  • R.I.P Jean Dooley - This song was played yesterday after the funeral

  • 8 people never got a homecoming queen

  • @jdawg10k did you? ;D

  • The clarinet in the final few bars always makes me giggle.

  • Monkeeys 4EVER! (:

  • I adore the way there is a big discussion about created bands etc.. Most modern boy bands are created now and the whole point surely is they could all play and sing and the music is great and I like to listen to it and yes when I was 15 I was willing to invest a great deal of my Saturday job money to buy their latest album!

  • One of the few Monkees songs I like lol :-)

  • No matter how tired and knackered with life I am, this always cheers me right the hell up again. :)

  • Of course, that song is widely known. And it´s a creation of Neil Diamond,

They had no decent songwriting ability, nor had any idea of playing an instrument in an acceptable manner. Not to mention make arrangements. I think it's you who had no idea where you stand. The Monkees were lucky to have the support of a record label that gathered the best they found around them to let the impression that they were a good band. But only truly talented survive in time and separation.

  • @karakorum2007 You really need to get a life. Getting bent out of shape over something as trivial as The Monkees got famous despite your opinion of them. How sad. Majority of pop acts don't write their own songs or play instruments. The vocals are the most identifiable and important piece of an act, and The Monkees provided that. So what have YOU done lately!? AHHAHAHA

  • Comment removed

  • Watched the Monkees Show repeats in high school back in the 80's. I Love the Monkees! Davey Jones!

  • @karakorum2007 they had quite a few songs on the charts, including I'm a Believer. this group is better than most bands that have ever existed

  • @rockerduff1231 well, certainly nobody can compare the most of the old groups with many of the current that just put a sole "something seemed to a hit" in the charts and then they demand to be considered "masters" in music. The Monkees was a serious lab experience, being supported by pieces of composers important then like Neil Diamond and others. I only mean The Monkees are far from The Beatles or Rolling Stones, these last are from the major leagues.

  • @karakorum2007 i agree they don't compare to those bands, but does that mean they suck because of it? there are plenty of great bands out there that don't compare to the beatles or the stones, but that doesn't mean they suck

  • this is my grandads and my dads song, i love you both so much <3

  • Monkees 4 ever!

  • this is music.love this song

  • This song makes me fall in love with the Monkees.

  • Who thinks this should have been in Ferris Bueller's Day Off somewhere?

  • I echo Hellohaleigh29. Whenever I feel down, I play this song that reminds me of better days, when I was young--and in love.

  • cheer up evergreen makes your grass nice and green...lol

  • oh the nostalgia :)

  • the fucking six o'clock alarm is getting on my nerves somehow

  • Cheer up Steve McLaren!

  • @TBup100 music

  • @TBup100 Daydream believer by the monkees

  • @TBup100 Who the fuck are YOU?

  • @MrRonnieG

There are people who know..... Live well!

  • This song makes me really happy. :)

  • @hellohaleigh29 - me too haha

  • Everyone who commented about Jai, one final word. Many years ago I dedicated a song to Jai's memory. It's by Van Morrison and is titled "Meet Me in The Indian Summer" and it's available here on YouTube. Here's to you Jai, if I were to live for a thousand years I would still carry you in my heart.............

  • i love this song

  • and to think, Hendrix open for the guys

  • The late folk singer, John Stewart, wrote this song for the Monkees. Stewart, at one time was a member of the Kingston Trio. His brother, Mike Stewart, backed Bev Bivens as a member of the We Five. Both are gone now.........

  • Lots of nice people saying lots of nice things about my post regarding Jai. The lesson I learned was never to drift away too far from those you hold dearest ~ be they a friend or a lover. I can only hope that, in another place and another time, she and I might cross paths again. Hardly a day passes when I don't say a prayer for just that. :)

  • Just discovered this song. REPLAY REPLAY REPLAY

  • Thumbs up if you think this would be cool as a song for Emma Frost... Maybe Jean Grey as well.

  • best song and video ever

  • i get to work at 4:00 in the morning and the gas station across from me always plays monkees songs at it gets me through the day

  • 懐かしい曲、ありがとう。

  • *****.

  • Its rather frustrating to see people complaining about songs like this. Ok, we get it, you do not like the Monkees or Justin Bieber. We know. But you know, for some of us who REMEMBER THIS STUFF, it is amazing to see some of the comments from teens who like it. If you like other stuff, great. But cut the crap about how bad these songs are, ok?

  • i actually use to stay up to watch their tv show

  • I'm 13 and I love The Monkees

  • there's no more words ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • @faltat2 Thank you for writing back. I listen to many times!

  • Cheer up Steve Bruce, Oh what can it mean?

To a sad mackem Bastard and a shit football team!

  • My Dad and I both love the Monkees. We both felt a strong connection with the 60s, even though he was just a little boy when they were on television.

And of course, I wan't born until the early 90s. So I missed out on all of the good stuff.

While I don't get to spend too much time with him because of college, I can always listen to the Monkees and think of him.

  • Like the Beatles ? OR maybe Monkees? Well then come on over to beatlesmonkees.forumotion. com And sign up

  • MrRonnie, sorry to hear of such a tragedy, but you have something that will always keep her real and alive

  • my dad loves the monkees and other old bands. he got me into this kind of stuff and i admit...it beats a LOT of modern day music :)

  • @StacyAllHeart43 ha! thats crazy. my mom got me into 60s and 70s music while i was growing up too.

  • @StacyAllHeart43 me too! my mom listened to this, the beatles, the beach boys, and others when i was growing up and now i love it too

  • @StacyAllHeart43 true it really does this was a time when music actually meant something

  • @Vanillasnowflakes AGREED. most definitely.

  • @StacyAllHeart43 Tell Your Dad I said Thanks..Good Man There!

  • @StacyAllHeart43 Now it don't just beat a lot of modern music eat beats all of the modern music

  • @hio7766 there's still quite a bit of good modern music like adele (:

  • @StacyAllHeart43 HAHAHA! very funny comment

  • @putty1994 why is that funny? there really are quite a few decent modern day artists out there. some of them just aren't as well known :/

  • @StacyAllHeart43 That is true, there IS some good talent out there and a LOT of bands. However, the problem is that for every good band nowadays, there are four that are mediocre and five that are real gahddamn fucking shit... :-(

  • @StacyAllHeart43 Your Dads a very wise man music as I know it is dead

  • @StacyAllHeart43 That is CORRECT, SIR! :-)

  • I love it. I'd like to know lyrics.

  • @iamalivehere then listen to it!
