NINA YOU ARE THE BEST! I LOVE THIS SONG. I WISH I COULD PLAY IT. MAYBE YOU COULD HELP ME AND TELL ME WHERE YOU GOT THE MUSIC FOR YOUR AUDITION. MAYBE YOU COULD POST IT ON YOUR WEBSITE.
Beautiful rendition Nina. One question though when I was seriously pursuing my dream of being a professional flautist my instructors were always getting on my case about "slouching" or "poor posture" when I was playing because my flute was perfectly parallel. What to you say about that?
That is just... Amazing... I'm a flutist myself, and hope to become at least half as good as you. That must have taken you forever to learn it though! So cool!!!
Hi Nina! I just wanted to say that you are my flute inspiration, and you've made me want to keep practicing and become as good as you someday! :) I have a long way to go, but I plan on becoming a music teacher so that I will continue with music throughout my life.
I love the way you play this song! I'm currently doing ballet and love dancing to this song, im gonna play piccolo when i save up enough money to get one (Might take a while) Well thanks for your inspiration! :)
This is so pretty, It's just some of the articulations seem a little fuzzy, That's probably because you're just really close and you wouldn't hear it normally. But intonation, overall tone, and technique-wise you're rockin'!!!
oh wow, o.O how can i play like that for my region in two weeks??? -.-" can u give me tips of how to play the fast ones??? like starting on 0:11....btw ur soo amazing!!!
Oh my god! The first piece was wonderful! I'm going to try my hardest to learn it. I know it'll take a lot of hours of practice but I WILL learn that piece! If you don't mind my asking, how long did it take you to learn it?
@KataraHaku7290 I don't know how long it took to learn the first time I played it, but I have been playing it on and off for probably 15 years. I've been playing flute more than 25 years!
this is great and obviously very beautiful - but the rhythm is wrong in the mendelssohn - the dotted quarter/eighth note "E - F - E - F" is over-dotted here. your sound/musicality obviously made them overlook this :P congrats on going to carnegie with the youtube symphony! you sound wonderful.
what grade is this on flute? Cause for recorder it's on Grade 7 for TriniyGuildhall but Grade 8 for ABRSM....
shhhh.....I'm hoping that, cause I'm switching form Trinity to ABRSM for my Grade 8, I can just play this piece again...:p It's a bit of a cheat on my behalf but hey. It gives me another chance at it.
I really like this train of thought the world wide collaberation , wow. This is currently the mission of the WWGM a non-profit to bring world wide understanding through music. I have a project I would like to collaberate with youtube orchestra members, such as yourself.
Nina! This amazing! Congrats on making it to Carnegie Hall :) I also hope I don't sound rude but does anyone know where to download this music sheet of JS Bach Bourree Anglaise? I can't find it anywhere and I love this piece!
Hi Nina ! Excellent rendition ! It's more than a co-incidence that we discovered your channel TO-DAY ( 15 th April 2009 ) ! Good Luck 4 your concert. We won't be able 2 be in NYC physically, but definitely in thoughts ! Cheers !
It's no surprise that you made the finals Nina, adding your ornaments definitely shows your musicianship. I'm fascinated by the flute, it sounds so nice!
I'm a flute player (still in high school, going off to college next year) and your videos have had a significant influence over what I do in practice. I am very excited to see you perform. Will it be posted?
Congrats on making it! I remember hearing the 4th movement of Partita in A Minor played by Alexandra Grot. I enjoyed hearing you play it just as much :] If possible, we'd all love to hear you play the other movements as well.
She has paid training and college behind her and is a professional flutists. It is too bad youtube allowed professional flutists to enter the competition. I just feel sorry for the rest of the non pro flutists that tried so hard. They didn't have a chance when she entered. Nina, were you not happy enough with the orchestra positions you have already had a chance with? You have had many chances while so many other flutists on youtube have never had the chances as you have had, not even once.
I wouldn't be so quick to pass judgment, Rexicanoo. I'd say Nina is perfectly qualified to play in the YouTube Orchestra because, well, she's a YouTuber. I might add that her channel is one of the main ones that inspired my own. I do recognize the brave efforts on the part of non-professional flutists and feel that they did exemplary jobs in their auditions. Remember that competitions aren't always about winning- I've lost my fair share and have learned a lot from them. Just my 2 cents.
You say that as if being a professional makes for some unfair advantage... What's unfair about practicing 4, 5, 6+ daily hours over about twenty years and then winning a position/competition as the result? It takes work, and TONS of it...late nights, early mornings, tedious exercises, long rehearsals, countless performances, lessons, school expenses...I could go for days...:-)
Why should the people who have done that work, for the majority of their lives, be restricted from this opportunity?
....Absolutely beautiful, Nina. I love it... it only gives me more motivation to play flute again. I had to quit playing, because I don't have classes at school anymore, and I can't really afford to pay a flute...absolutely amazing. 5 stars...***** ^^
ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING AND AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! I am in the 8th grade and play the flute. I love the flute and I want to some day be as good as you are!!!!!! I want to subscribe so I can have future videos of you playing the flute! Like I said, AWESOME job and I am pretty sure you should make the finals!!! ROCK ON!!!!
Nina. You got this in the bag, hands down. You're You tube's most famous flutist, and this certainly proves why. The ornaments you've added certainly add an element of musicality not found in any of the other finalist auditions. You'll make it, I know it. Good luck Nina, and thanks so much for entering! :)
I vote for you because...one I love the flute.. two I love old classical music and three because I admire you for all the dedication you put into hours of practice and the willing heart to teach others your talents and abilities.. and your playing like it says is beautifully processional. Would love to have some plans personally from you some day...Have been playing for 11 yrs.
andy957: There were three required pieces to chose and you could do 1 or 2 of the required pieces which were the Bach Bouree, the Brahms 4 solo or the Mendelssohn excerpt. I would have done all three but the rules said to do one or two.
you've got my vote!! I could say that you're technically sound and musically captivating but you've heard that........when the voting starts I'm voting for personalities along with incredible talent because it will be the character of those selected that will make this a worthwhile experience.
I have played Bourree Anglaise for awhile....and have always wanted to sound like this...omg. You do very well on this. I know you placed many hours of practice into this audition. want to make it all flow...but that piece is intricate. Where can one stop and breathe? OMG.
STILL I GIVE YOU a 10. Gorgeous sound(s). I hear alot of quality sounds. I love my flutes and your playing is wonderful.
Absolutely stunning execution, and I also really enjoyed the tempo changes at the end of the Bach. I don't care what anyone else says- I'll vote for you every day of the voting period! Your efforts over the past two years on YouTube are remarkable (and they inspired the beginning of my humble channel)- they would be CRAZY not to take you!! Plus you're among the handful of "favorites" on Symphony's channel! (So am I- go us!) Anyways, best of luck and I'm rooting for you!!
She got with him once, sort of! They did a nice little joke video of her beatboxing, but then he entered the video, exposing her trickery. It was funny! :)
I barely made the deadline last night, so I was able to submit, finally got the notification from them that it was confirmed! My video is pretty out of sync though, but at least I was in sync with the conductor lol
NINA YOU ARE THE BEST! I LOVE THIS SONG. I WISH I COULD PLAY IT. MAYBE YOU COULD HELP ME AND TELL ME WHERE YOU GOT THE MUSIC FOR YOUR AUDITION. MAYBE YOU COULD POST IT ON YOUR WEBSITE.

I'd vote for you, too. One of the few professional musicians to audition.

You make it sound so easy and effortless. *jealous; thinks of own flute sitting on bedroom floor at home in dusty case*

You and that beat boxing flutess should get together. You're both so good. :) I still wish someone did this with clarinet.

She got with him once, sort of! They did a nice little joke video of her beatboxing, but then he entered the video, exposing her trickery. It was funny! :)

Thanks Cambry and too bad you weren't able to submit.

I barely made the deadline last night, so I was able to submit, finally got the notification from them that it was confirmed! My video is pretty out of sync though, but at least I was in sync with the conductor lol
