  • Damn Magnus was impressivee... i thought the other guy had him but wooww ;))

  • fascinating game

I thought it would be over when boris took magnus' rook.

  • Fantastic game! Nice video and comentary!

  • It amuses me that at the Tal Memorial, they played such a non-aggressive line as the Slav lol.

  • very well explain sr,,

  • When do you think Magnus Carlsen figured out the final position? Because it seems to me that possibly he calculated which move by the immediate necessity and, therefore, could win. But maybe he calculated everything 5-10 moves earlier (what is more interesting). I a beginner. What do you think?

  • Brilliant commentary and brilliant game: much thanks! I GOT A LOT OUT OF THAT!

Bless you who ever did that commentary!

  • how abt kf8 instead of 0-0-0 for black? I really feel castle short is extra brave move for white! certainly g5,g4 can do something...

  • That must be one of Magnus' best games ever. I'd be really scared having to play against an opponent like that :-) Congrats, Magnus.

  • Great game and great explanation!! Thanks!!

  • a good but also typical carlsen game. superior understanding of complex positions.

Classical chess is not dead at all, thanks to players like Kasparov, Carlsen, Shirov and others.

  • Carlsen's Immortal

What amazes me here is the foresight by Carlsen. Did he know after QSC followed Qc2 that his opponent's attack wouldn't have a continuation? Certainly. But how was he so conivnced of the superiority of his position that he could go down a Rook? Did he foresee the B&N corner mate threat or the discovered attack against the black Rook? Because he's losing up to that very point. It's possible he just stuck to principles, took a risk and got lucky, but I doubt it.

  • wow, great game

  • Something about the way you commentate adds to the beauty of the game!!

  • That's what I like to see...

Brave chess! Magnus is the man!

  • amazing!

  • @ 15:04, I think the problem with black going Bxb2 is that white can simply move Be7, preparing a simple mate of Bd6.

  • That's why Magnus is where he is in the chess world.

  • well, family fork is the common name when forking king rook and queen. no invention here!

  • @gentilguy So, yeah, it then makes sense for Jerry to say that... but it STILL is funny, no?

    :-D

  • Great game from Magnus, and great commentary as always Jerry.

  • maybe boris should have take the pawn on b7 instead of kb8...?

  • Is this chess or is it magic? I really don't know...

  • That is some incredible play, Isn't Magnus rated #1 in the world?

  • @MoPar7055 yes

  • Brilliant game! Thanks, nice commentary!

  • I enjoyed this a lot Jerry, thanks for the videos.

  • Fork the whole family. :) Oh Jerry.

  • What that application do you use to play chess??

  • This is just GREAT. You explain it very well and I enjoyed it. I learned alot, thank you :)

  • Wow.. amazing, thanks for the video! Playing a rook down and he still managed to win.. crazy

  • Hi Jerry,

Jeepers creepers; did you EVER explain this well!.. thanks!

  • I enjoyed this alot. Thanks for the video

  • at 15:50 why didnt he just move black bishop to b2 grabbing the pawnnn

  • @candynlamb because the white bishop can recaputure

  • Gelfand got a little too excited with the open h-file.

  • Before Jerry - Chessbase ruled...

    After Jerry - Chessbase crashed!!!

  • I love you Jerry

  • thanks for all the videos, this was an exciting game, well it was going to be geared up to be with opposite sides castling. and a hell of a lot different to the snooze-fest that was the World Chess Championship candidates tournament

  • 6:32 "...Where it would fork the whole family"

    I laughed HARD.

  • fucking incredible

  • very cool game, love your videos Jerry

  • Thanks!!

  • my only worry is why he skips these world championships.

he is too good to decline. yes the system is shit but even fischer did one year

  • forks the whole family lol

  • Great game, and awesome kibitzing as usual. Thanks Jerry! I wonder where do you place Carlsen on the all-time rankings as of now? I used to think he gets overrated for his young age, but now I'm kinda sold that he is top5 already. (:

  • why not be5xpb2?

  • @AyuPwnsj00 at which move?

  • @Neueregel 15:00. Would'nt there be a better continuation for black in that manner possibly preventing white knight to f6 even if white takes black bishop at b2

  • That was a really exciting game. Comments are always great!

  • Thanks so much. I love watching your videos-- from Twitter! I'm also a big Starcraft II fan, which I find to be Chess in real time. I'm about ~1900 rating in chess, but I like Starcraft II even more!

  • An amazing game well commentated

  • what an informative game ,thanx

  • Carlsen's really honoring Tal.

  • How's that possible to win with a rook down?O_O

  • @XRectalAnarchyX Magnus's not a rook down, he is down a quality (Gelfand sacrificed his knight a couple of move before)

  • MAGNUS IS SOOOOO PROOOOO :D

  • thanks for the video

  • fascinating moves!

  • At @14:19 it seems to me the only line to play is Bxf6 Nxf6 Nc5 check and then Rc2 if the king goes for the night.

  • Great analysis of a very interesting game :)

  • ahhh wutup, Jerry?!

  • three chess facts : 1 : Tal was regarded one the best attacking GM's and petrosian as one of the best defensive . 2. soviet union in 1930 banned chess players from playing more than 1 player at a time in blindfold chess due to health hazard !.3. soviet research in 1950's showed that playing chess with only one eye open in average player causes rating to fall by over 100 points !

  • thank you very much for the analysis

  • This could be a future's classic.

  • very nice!

  • Magnus's style is unparalleled.

  • Yay, awesome explanation! Thanks a lot Jerry.

  • Such a good fighting game from both sides. Really enjoyed it, thanks!
