According to the recommendations from Toyota own paperwork 0-20 Full Synthetic oil for 2010 Prius is good for 10.000 miles intervals between the oil changes. I don't think it is the same for 2008 Prius as is has different smaller motor.
The AutoZone Oil filter wrench you recommended does not work. I would recommend strongly on getting the following wrench from Amazon 'Assenmacher Specialty Tools TOY 640 Oil Filter Housing Cup Wrench for Toyota/Lexus' 64mm with 14 facets'. Wrench fits the filter cap perfectly! Pay a little more $16-18 bucks but well worth it.

i just did my gfs corolla. After doing it I wonder if toyota purposely made it a P.I.A to do. That way you just take it in.
