  • hahah thats pretty clever . do you just sit in your room all weekends and play with that thing at a really high freq. lol

  • you cud make gewd video game sound effects with this haha

  • Nice but boring...

  • where do you learned it?

  • Does the patch allow for an automation when the pad doesn't detect the 'pen' anymore? SUch as mute? That would be an interesting way to play it - tapping it all over for different pitch.

  • you just reminded me that i have a wacom pad and that controlling shit in max/msp is a wicked use of it. thanks.

  • I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only person to immediately think "holy shit, that's cool and all, but couldn't you have found a more interesting application?"

Maybe you're just new to Max, which is understandable, the learning curve is fcking steep. I would like to mention though that that's not really FM... technically you are modulating the frequency of an oscillator, but just using an LFO. FM usually involves harmonic frequencies... or at least a modulator with an audible frequency

  • dude this patch is amazing, you basically made a Kaossilator!

  • Hi, nice attempt with the tablet. I am also a Wacom player and would like to gather and discuss with people of this community. Please, tell me if you're interested. -Nicolas

  • aaawch my ears

  • new gen thermin? lol nice

  • i love de pad kontrol!

  • There has GOT to be more musical things you can do with that setup. Great for you for experimenting!

  • bad trip man fucvk

  • So I listened to the entire thing. there were some frequencies around the middle that made me feel like something was in my throat, then one that made me have that Pre-vomiting feeling. Is that normal?

  • Every people are different. If you study human body, it seems like everyone has the exact things going inside them. Actually, its one of those allergy stuff. Allergy is something you inherit from genes. You can't really fix it. Its your physical response to outside affection. Basically, people have differet structures of body.

  • The real answer: If you feel a strangeness in your throat from the noise, it's not because you're "allergic" to the noise, it's because the vibrations are causing your throat to resonate, because they are on the same frequency.

  • SO YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO FREQUENCY?????

  • ugh.... my ears I nothing hear ...haah xD

  • interesting!

what are the specs of your mac?

  • this is making my cats paranoid!

  • LMAO

  • really mind blowing?

  • i want to smash the guys head in the table!

    pissing me off!

  • nice

  • yes i agree o_o That was quite loud..

The beeping noise is annoying, no offense ._.

  • its frequency modulation...its what it does :S

  • nice set... it had to be quite expensive...

  • ~~~H A U N T E D~~~M A N S I O N~~~

  • annoying video, you could have picked something a bit more interesting to show off the controller possibilities. I'd rather stick with my oxygen 8.

  • That was quite loud

  • did u use the wacom pencil instead the mouse to control the slider or some Max object like that, or use the wacom as a midi controller ?

  • wacom's rock

  • I have a tech question, hope you don't mind- did you manage to get the wacom tablet recognised as an hid device? Does the tablet still act as a pointer or did you manage to get osx to ignore it as a mouse?

  • nope, still moves the cursor but i'm sure you can avoid that.

  • Cheers for the reply,

I'll keep looking, but no luck so far. Moving the cursor is fine it's just the mouseclicks that need to be disabled.

  • are you on osx? because i THINK you can disable it in the preference that comes with the driver inside system preferences.

  • for XP there is a "wacom" object where you can indeed disable the mouse functionality, so that you can use both independently.

  • Do you have the version for OSX? The links are dead everywhere I go... (or even the one for XP.) I can't find either of them.

  • There's nothing difficult about controlling the cycle~ object with your wacom. Not sure why you thought this was even worth uploading other than to help people some other possibilities for using Max/MSP.

  • why didn't you do it yourself then?

  • To reaffirm, and I hope I don't offend you but what you're doing is incredibly basic and no worth demonstrating in my opinion.

You could have done the same thing with the mouse and using a wacom just makes it seem like you're doing something difficult to people who are unversed in Max/Wacom tablets.

  • well, you have to start somewhere. sometimes basic is just the best way of demonstrating the endless possibilities of max.

  • For sure, then it might be a good idea to say that at the beginning of your video.

  • Why do you have to be such an arse?

  • ooh mind screwer upperer

  • Hey, what midi-signals are u sending that padkontrol that light and unlights the pads? I have one, always wanted to do that...

  • look in the manual. its in there.

  • if you just leave it for ten minutes it will start doing that. i remember looking it up on the net and it is possible to crack it somehow. just google it.

  • Not much difference between this and just using two midi knobs.

  • But this is just a demonstration, sure two midi knobs are fine, but by the same idea, why even use the knobs? You could just as easily set up the computer to perform those functions.

The idea here is using the wacom as an instrument, these things have so many parameters of data coming out of them, x,y,tilt, pressure, that you can then use to control just about anything.

  • really nice mate!

  • Awesome. Now you can play the intro and outro to that Len song. ("Steal My Sunshine")

  • MMmmM tasty oscillating sine waves.

  • This is written in max/MSP, which is kind of advanced, but an other option is to simply go download the program, u midi controller,(search "wacom midi controller" at google and choose music unfolding, the first link),which converts mouse signals into midi signals. Then assign it to send to your computersynth, and wupti.

  • That's an incredible idea! To able to use something as precise to control the sounds... amazing. can it work with any digital computer synth sound?

  • It is pretty easy to convert any sort of signal into a midi control signal which can be sent to external programs.

  • Oh Shit!You hurted my ears ¬¬

  • Id like to see what you would make if you did something more in depth, Ive made tons of patches for my wacom.

  • Funny, my friend did something similar for a project in uni

  • irritating

  • It's not about the voice or sound, because yes, it is annoying. It's about the concept of using the WACOM as a controller to Max/MSP.

  • What does it tell me about that concept?

  • That you can use the Wacom as a controller. I can post a more specific edition if you want.

  • te4s, its about creating unique sounds via an odd physical control that translates into sound. these sounds might seem obnoxious to you but tinkering with speakerphone's set up could very easily land on a very interesting and cool sound. the possibilities are really quite endless with this program and the WACOM is a great control surface to use.

  • can i just ask what exactly is the point to this noise,i mean i see alot of vids on this but i don't know what the point is,just curious not beeen a dick, peace

  • elsewherebeats1:

    Of course..

The video is about using the WACOM controller as a control surface for electronic music.. TIt's just one out of many configurations that can be achieved with the wacom and a laptop..

Basically it's a new way of handling music, all though the featured sounds aren't that "nice"..

  • The noise is just a sort of "look what i can do" thing.

Sometimes the best examples are the simplest, because the changes are obvious.
