Hawthorn's isn't based on "Yankee Doodle" (the 1863 American Cival War Theme) but on a Musical Number called "I'm a Yanky Doodle Dandy" from the movie "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (1942). The film starred James Cagney as George M. Cohan, and the song in question can be found on YouTube (search for Cagney Cohen & Yankee Doodle Dandy). You'll see it's bar-for-bar the same tune as "We're a happy team at Hawthorn".

Thanks for posting. When I heard "never gonna give you up" at the end for a second I thought West Coast had remixed the track into their funny theme song. Perhaps Fremantle should've adopted it for all of the loyal supporters that have stuck by this joke of a footy team.
