Guys!! this is so easy just keep your foot on the gas and close your eyes! I do it everyday though I can't see my reflection on my computer's screen or see myself in the mirror anymore!!!
Honestly I don't like drifting.... I'm sure I couldn't drift like that no matter what you did to the car....... but watching the on-boards of these guys drifting the miata is way more impressive because the car is not good at it, and you can see how much harder they have to work to keep it going.
@206frankthetank Its called a clutch kick, its used to break rear traction as the car starts to grip instead of slip like it should to maintain the drift.
Its basically like when you drop the clutch from a stop, which causes tire spin, holding the drift out longer than possible with a low powered car, which cannot spin the tires up indefinitely like high-powered cars.
@206frankthetank Yes, it is used when the drift is about to die out, when you hold the gas pedal flat out and kick the clutch, the rpm of the engine rise and when you lift it induces more spin to the tires to continue the drift.
ok first im half japanese i do go there ever summer to practice cause the drifters here in he USA fucking suck there worse then the cars they drive the cars that was on your comment you are right but it didn't start that way it started cause they would race in the mountain roads where i learned which my grandmother and grandfather both live 1 and 30 mins away from the very mountain
lol my god i just read thru all these comments. many of you are forgetting about the one biggest and most important thing about drifting! its about having fun! who cars who spun and who held the better line, as long as your all out there with a smile on ya face thats all that counts! You watch any comp and you'll see there all having a laugh noones serious its all a giggle! lighten up people!
LET THE EXCUSES FLY!! The problem lies is the fact that american "drifting" is just a glorified power slide. They use tons of power, over the top suspension setups and completely abuse the E-brake.. it's sloppy at best...You see the Japanese drifters can drift ANYTHING! The only time they touch the E-brake (if ever) is to correct over stear ...They were risking their lives for their craft in the mountains before they became famous. The US just cant hang right now..
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's funny how this is a USA vs Japan drift 'competition', and the couple representing the USA are Australian and Japanese, while the people representing Japan are Japanese.... That doesn't say anything... This is a 3 way Japanese drift competition with an Australian guy from nowhere....
can i ask who drifting first, usa or japanese? As there is the skyline, sylvia, 200 sx from japan, but Im not sure on what usa cars there are but i am sure they have one now?
I know what you mean & Americans do have big powerfull engines tht do wheelies:)& they drift supurbly, but theres something original about drifting tht to me & maybe many more relates as a japanese originality, always think of the skyline & if i was to drift would almost pick the skyline or mazda rx7, i feel when the japanese first started the drifting they used these type of cars for this?& i think there are alot of copycats now,its like why have the replica when you can have the real thing!:)
drifting started with "crapy" hand me down cars that didnt really have much power like toyot carollas and datsuns. later in the video the one driver refers to practicing with a "hatchiroku" with is japanese for the number 86. Hes talking about the AE86 carolla
@emptyomen ok first im half japanese i do go there ever summer to practice cause the drifters here in he USA fucking suck there worse then the cars they drive the cars that was on your comment you are right but it didn't start that way it started cause they would race in the mountain roads where i learned which my grandmother and grandfather both live 1 and 30 mins away from the very mountain

would it help to lower the car about 30mm ? to prevent "overspringing", caused of the relatively high centre of gravity due the "offroad roadster suspension"...
i think there is a reason that these driftkings re using race suspensions in their own cars.
Lowering is all good and fine, but it would only do well in conjunction with stiffening the suspension as a whole (though, most of the time, lowering will tighten the springs).
You are right about the center of gravity being effected, however, it would not do you well to lower your car with squishy springs so that the corners of the body pound and grind the track in each turn.
Kazama is my favorite first time i watched D1GP it was his Kei Office S15, hows the reaaal drift king? p.s that supposed drift king was named by a magazine not by us
of course to you it would be stupid but if you got your facts corrected its the biggest growing sport to date dont trash it just because u think its stupid keep your opinions to yourself and dont make your self look like an idiot on top of the ton of others that have done so on this site
EXCUSES. I cant believe he brought up excuses. Leave it to stupid American's to have excuses. Car doesn't have any torque, the suspension is off. WHAT BS. Learn to D R I V E!!!
none of you are thinking of the tire conditions. kazama actually has a huge advantage cuz the tires on the miata has warmed up and will break lose more easily, thats why he is able to connect that straight better. tires become butter quick at that track, i have had a good amount of drift time there.
i probably know y kazama had a better score and everything...TIRE WEAR!! the tires wer probably already a little bit worn down from the pervious attempts...but hes still good no matter wat
That Kazama is amazing!!! That's a Lady's car he's driving not to mention that Miata is an underpowered car. That car was meant for shopping and a roundabout vehicle.
This is why people who drift with turbos and superchargers and high powered cars, they will never gain some of the skills that people who drive under powered cars need. Oh well, this is why there are so much different skill levels for drifting. Nice.
Agreed. But just my 2 cents, with the price of gas slowly climbing back up, trying to drift a less powerful more fuel economic stock car is the way to go for me. =)
Well, whatever works works. We play the cards we are dealt with, so if fuel economic drifting is next then go with it. You don't need to spend that much gas to drift, unless your cars a gas guzzler. Fuel Eco. cars are good, the fun of non-eco-cars, but the comfort of fuel economy
nope... an unpowered car is more forgiving when you drift. If u mess up... your more likely just get traction and straighten up. The 500+ hp drift machines arent as forgiving, if too much gas or not enough or even in the wrong gear at the wrong torque range could spell a spin out or even worse if your traveling over 65 mph.
no its not. Its drifting... yea you wanna enter a drift at high speed and you want to keep close to the other driver if your in the rear, but it's doesnt mean anything if "cant" get angle. Have u seen the Ae86 Beat the Viper? It had 6 re-do and the 86's engine overheated. It was a while back tho... so i dont know if u can find the vid. I belive its Ueo that drove the 86.
Compare Rhy's run with Kazama's . Rhy's defintely a faster run the kazama but had no angle meanwhile Kazama drifted madly
drifting started from rally racing, and it started in japan as a sport. the best frifters are those with years of experience. your wrong , if you watched any of Tsuchiya 's vids he said himself " i started drifting because when i race,I use to slide around the corners alot , It usually saved me from crashing to the walls " Rally racing is more of a pull of the ebrake and sliding on dirt. Drift is more of precision and tuning , tsuchiya inveted something that people like not those rally ricers
wow this shows you dont know shit with your rally comment. first off, you dont even have to use the ebrake. you mostly do Scandinavian Slides (5 bucks you dont know what that is) or you just power over. so go suck a penis
