  • Bravo for this class of pottery !!! I like it, because I really can use what I saw :)

  • @bealiever9 if you can use what you saw then I of all people am the happiest ! Keep using & practice ! SL

  • do you glaze?

  • Hello; So glad to watch this art. How much do you charge for these Bowls. Iam Interested in replicating the bread crocks from 1700s inspiration AMAZING GRACE MOVIE ADDRESS

  • what is it that you use on the rim? the thing you said to just hold over and not push?

  • A piece of chamois leather ,nice & wet , & soft . You can buy these usually about a foot square from a car assessory shop,as they are used to dry of cars after they have been washed . SL

  • a small piece of plastic will work equally well, the type of plastic that your groceries are often carried home in. I use a chamois however with an attached fishing bobber so it can be found in the slip-like water.

  • I like the rolled lip, but does it not trap air and make a bubble in the process?

  • Nevermind, I see you already answered that question very eloquently in your video of rolled lips. Thanks for all the useful pointers!

  • It may do , but dont worry any air trapped only finds it way out through the wall .Never had one blow up once. SL

  • I know you are buisy, but can you send some vidios on some beginner mistakes? Like throwing tall and your hands can't touch, making the wall even even though your hands can't touch

  • Have an omelette tonight LOL

  • thanks, made a couple today :)

  • Ooo! I saw those on John's pages! Very smart with the pouring lip!

That stick guage is so simple and yet so clever and to the purpose!

As you are coming up to the top, the lip is quite thick. Why thin it and then roll it, instead of just leaving that thick lip as is?

    Thanks for sharing, Simon!

  • Hi M

The rolled rim gives a bit extra at the top .

Helps to make it stronger . less likely to warp (important as these are fired face to face)gives a purchase point when lifting the bowl, aesthetically pleasing to myself. SL

  • So rolled is stronger than just thick? Gotchya!

Wouldn't they also be easy to fire stacked? That would take even less space - or do you mean glaze, not bisque?

  • Hi M - fired in the glaze face to face ,in the bisq they are fired inside one another with sand at the bottom so the rims dont press on each other. SL

  • Wonderful as always. This is something I need to learn to make consistently since the bowl monster takes our cereal bowls, according to the youngest. My oldest pleads the 5th amendment(can't incriminate oneself). When I get experience, consistency, and a kiln, I will never be without a bowl again! :)
