Lettuce be real. Today's NBA athletes today are the "superior" athletes/players/talent.... Seriously though, I'm mocking the many people today who believe past era's were like the stone age of basketball... This sequence looks as stunning as anything you could ever see in today's game. Yet good luck even finding action this intense in today's game. The game has devolved into "me" ball where guards and forwards pound the ball slowly at mid court waiting for a selfish 1 on 5 isolation move
I can't believe Artis Gilmore is not in the Hall of Fame. What about David Greenwood? I also like Reggie Theus. There were some bad ass players on that floor. I liked Benard King of the Knicks. I heard he is also not in the HOF. These were somd players that could fill it up. Then, Rodman is in the HOF? I think I could have beaten Rodman in a game of one on one. Artis Gilmore must be in the HOF. I think someone is mistaken.
As a Bulls fan I loved watching Artis Gilmore play. I think the A-Train held Kareem under 20 points in every matchup I saw between them at the old Chicago Stadium.
@ExplosiveThinMan It's funny that when the Bulls drafted Reggie back in '78 the scouting report said "great defensive player, excellent passer and super quickness". I guess 2 out of 3 ain't bad. He got the rep from helping to shut down North Carolina's Phil Ford who never became the great player they thought he'd be.
@nikos007333, er...what? It was a good pass and all, but better than anything you see in todays game? That's silly. Watch Nash, Chris Paul, Derron Williams, Rajon Rondo, or really a number of players who have passing skills that easily match this and surpass it. The passing here is just not that impressive.
@jdlund THEUS WAS A GREAT PLAYER AND PASSER,THE FACT THAT U COMPARE HIM WITH THE BEST TODAY'S PG PROOVES THAT!COME ON MAN THESE ASSIST ARE IMPRESSIVE AND U DO N'T SEE THEM A LOT TODAY THAN THOSE DAYS!AFTER ALL 80'S WAS THE BEST NBA ERA!
@AdreasTheGreat, the passes are fine here. But yes you really do see them a lot today. The argument is patently absurd. People have this really weird need to constantly say everything use to be better (that goes for sports, movies, music, society in general, etc.). It's just nostalgic bullshit. I am old enough that I watched a lot of basketball in the 80s and I get the comment that it was the best overall era. But there is nothing about the passing here that is more impressive than today.
@TheSupersolomonz, it really isn't. I could watch any number of games, regular season or post season, and see passing that is just impressive today as this passing is here. There's nothing really that special about it. As I said in my other post, it's nothing but nostalgic bullshit.
