Banana clips and all, it still had something going for it. I love the music from this episode and the one where Picard had the imaginary life. Amazing music.
is it just a coincidence that we see Shakespeare and classical music pieces in TNG and Patrick Stewart is crazy about both? TOS had one Shakespeare play and one Brahms played by Spock and that was it
I've tried to put into Finale Captain Picard's Ressican Flute song where he and the lady are playing in the "perfect resonating chamber." Can't quite get it, but I'm close. Love this video, thank you so much for brightening my day!! =)
Star Trek TNG was truly a well rounded source of entertainment. Having music is essential. Other science fiction shows would have done well to follow suit, for such programmes as Babylon 5 and Stargate are largely devoid of any music.
Thanks for the video, and thank you, Gene. It's not all wagon trains, that's certain!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i never got why what with all the millions they pumped into this show they couldn't afford to give spiner just a couple of simple violin lessons. and what the hell is a pensioner still doing on board the enterprise?! (second clip)
Out topic, but in lessons, before picard and neela played together (the third in this youtube), neela played a small clip on the piano, anybody knows what is it called?
Watch the very first part of the video when he is watching the pianist play... i forget her name... Troi is in the background behind Picard, and she has this little "Oh, The Captain's got the hots look."
I am not into classical music and so don't know how the pieces are named. Can you tell me what exactly to search in youtube to find the same piece played by others? Thanks again!
Hi I heard the latter string music in the Sarek scene years ago and loved it, though never found it again or found out what it was, do you happen to know? Thanks for puttin it on and DON'T take it off.
@Corrant101 Brahms String Sextet, I'm having a hard time finding it on cd, or download for that matter. I think its like the second movement or something like that.
@Corrant101 Well it seems I am about 3 years late in replying to this but it is Brahms' String Sextet in B flat, I heard it for the first time in the "Sarek" episode too and loved it.
@Corrant101 it's String Sextet No.1 in B flat Major Op.18 - 2. Andante, ma moderato by Johann Brahms. haha i just saw your comment so i'm three years late. sorry :3
@Corrant101 I know you posted this comment years ago, but I found this on Star Trek Memory Alpha:
"Though Data and company are supposed to be playing a concert of Mozart, the piece that brings Sarek to tears is the slow (second) movement of the Sextet #1 in B-flat Major by Johannes Brahms, which requires six instruments, not the four we see. (Although, the initial piece is indeed part of the Mozart Quartet for Strings No. 19 in C)."
FINALLY, SOMEONE COMPLIED ALL OF THE GREAT TREK SOUNDTRACK PIECES!!!!!!

The music starting at 1:45 is the second movement of Brahms Sextet No 1, the Andante ma moderato.
I first heard this piece of music 20 years ago and have only recently identified it.

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, 18th Opus is what I believe you are referring to.
fluggencheimen 2 years ago
The first one is Chopin's "Trio in G minor for piano, violin and cello, Op. 8 Movement 1: Allegro con Fuoco".
