Thank you for showing that you can work in the pieces that fall off. I'm frustrated because all of the videos I watch make it seem so easy and perfect. I think I ruined a batch of dough from trying too hard. Thank you so much for doing a video that shows that it can be just as perfect if it doesn't roll out perfectly!

Do you idiots know that lard (pig fat) has NO TRANS FAT ? Why not use that ? Natural lard has no trans fat unless its hydrogenated. Get some non-hydrogenated lard and you should be good to go. Its cheaper, has more flavor, produces flakier and moist pie crust and can make your 90 year old momma achieve an orgasm. Both vegetable shortening and butter has trans fat. People are sooooo idiot. Look in wiki for lard.
Those rolling pins scare the hell out of me. My brother was making a crust for a pot pie and slipped and crushed all the bones in both arms up to the elbows.
"Shortening" is partially hydrogenated oil. I want something to eat-not that will KILL me. Can't you put together a recipe that's healthy-that's why I don't buy store-bought crusts.
I'm always worried about stretching or tearing it when rolling/ transferring it. It seems like you have had a good deal of practice in making pies. How do you prevent it the crust from ripping when wrapping it around the rolling pin??

Will the dough taste sour because of the applecider?

Don't bake with vegetable shortening. Lard or all butter is best. Tastes better too.

the rolling pin technique--i never thought of that! But you forgot to mention greasing the baking dish, that's a big one. Thanks!
amazonly21 3 years ago
you don't have to grease the baking dish with all that butter in the dough. same with baking cookies.
