Actually... I would rather point out something..

Remember this model phone called the HTC TyTn ii / Kaiser / Tilt? You might recall that it frequently scored VERY high for useability and design. You know why this is, right?

Well, just in case... it gave the option of navigation keys, touch screen and touch-flo, a full slide-out keyboard, and the ability to be modified to no ends.

You see, when a person isn't stuck to just one thing, it tends to be a more enjoyable and personal experience.

yea, the G1 got youtube. its built in it. and also has Myspace mobile, its hella tight. and btw, its owns the iphone. i had the iphone, and i sold it, and got the G1. the iphone is gay cuz its onscreen texting. the G1 has onscreen texting, also has the keyboard. Its Google Android Market (built in) is hella better then Apple Store. You can download litteraly anything you want...

Well the G1 operating system makes the phone amazing, without the g1 operating system i see Verizon wireless going nowhere soon. I hear theirs more g1 phones to come, and if other phone companies cannot get the g1 operating system on their phones, than i will be one unhappy camper.

Good to know, the best phone company deserves the best phone operating system. Btw i just realized why verizon can pay for these phones and their commercials,just look at the dramatic increase in peoples bills per month.

i'm sort of a novice when it comes to Verizon. I'm not too familiar with them. I do know they have one of the best data networks, and some very positive customer feedback. I'm a T-Mobile user and I've been more than satisfied. Though i really only use my phone for call/text. So it doesn't take much to meet my needs.

Yeah all phone companies will meet your needs, the only thing that sets them apart is the bill. In my opinion, US cellurar gives you more bang for the buck compared to several other phone companies. Just to have at@t unlimited everything on the iphone itll cost you 180 dollers. On the other hand, us cellurar gives you amazing reception,unlimited texting,200 mins, and free calls after 7, and on weekends. Plus great support staff and dec phones. So really any company will meet your needs somehow.

All this comparison of G1 to iPhone is laughable. They're apples and oranges. It's not about touch screens, browsers, and checking your e-mail. It's about Android. The OS is years ahead of iPhone's from an ideological standpoint. Give it a year and Android will crush the uber-proprietary iPhone OS. Google provides you with a killer OS and hands over the code so you can do with the phone what you wish. Apple tells you what you can have and do and tells devs what they can and can't make.

Just to say, the way a website displays is decided by the website (facebook notices the g1 as a phone, thus displaying the mobile version, whereas other websites haven't updated their list of phones). Meaning that the website will also choose whether or not to give you an option to change between them.

Ok, so everyone is taking what I said to far, so I have decided to post a new comment, I have determined that what I had a chance to play with was a pre-release version of the G1. I have a few friends that purchased the phone over the weekend and I played with it a bit. it is a full browser, and the touch screen is fast a responsive, I am just jealous because I miss my iphone, sorry for all the pissy comments, bad week, just reserved the new storm hope its good.

There are too many different ways to swipe, it could be confusing to a not so technical user. This is why it's not an iPhone killer. The iPod proved it, it's just about features, it's about how "all" the features are implemented.

Case in point, the G1 has copy & paste, but you can only copy by paragraph. You cannot copy a single sentence or group of words. The iPhone doesn't have it, which is annoying, but I'm betting when it does it will be better than that.
