That is Barbas, you have to be a high level for the blacksmith to talk to you about barbas and then he shows you to Clavicus Vile, I hate Mr. Vile. I have the Oblivion walker achievement. My favorite Prince is probably Sheogorath or Mephala, or Nocturnal.

I found out that you don't have to be new in the game to get the dog. I'm a level 21 and I went to the exact place where you told and I found 3 wolves dead and a barking dog XD

I so glad you made this tho.....Lydia ran off with Vigilance ; - ; And thats why I chose Erik over Lydia XD Becase he hasnt taken Rocco yet (lol thats what I named the stray dog XD)

2. Open consule.

3. Click on the dog.

4. Write "resurrect".

The dog is alive! This works with every creature. So if your horse dies... :D

There's also a stray dog near Riverwood, the place if called "Meekos' Shack", and his owner is dead when you get there, so you can make him tag along with you if you'd like.

I love the canine companions, but I hate the Stray Dog. Not only do you lose him permanently if you tell him to go home or leave him waiting too long, but he also has a low chance of leaving on his own at any time. When that happens, you can't get him back without reloading even using the console since he can only be recruited once.

It's easier to stick with Vigilance for your dog follower. He has a price, but he won't ditch you on his own accord and if you get separated you can get him again.

Yes, I enjoy teh dogs company as well. But I bought it for 500 gold in MARKARTH(german name). I am allways sad when it gets lost. It fights and seems to be nearly undestructable but I keep it outside the fightings like in castles or caves cause if me or my housecarl coincidently attack it to often it will attack back till you are in trouble. I am now around with housecarl, horse and dog and that Dremora-Markynaz (german name)from the quest-weapon "Sanguines Rose". Little skyrim family. LOL

I accidentaly found this Stray Dog the very first time I played this game, but we both got attacked by two wolves, we were fighting and shit and then one swing hit the dog and he got mad, so he attacked me and I couldn't hit him back, so he killed me ='(

i found it by going to helgen (after killing alduin, much later in the game), entering the helgen keep, and going through the whole thing all the way to the end. then when u reach the end and come outside to skyrim it's where this video starts. i hope this clears up any confusion

There is another dog you can have, head to solitude then go towards the forest (across the river from the farm) their is a cabin (which now the dog owns) the dogs owner is dead(probably assassinated) so you can "adopt" the dog by talking to it. Sadly i died while trying because I was burnt to a crisp fighting a dragon, Or i think I ran and hid the bushes...

I justw ent to meeko's shack..theres a dog their...its owner died int he bed at the shack so hes forced to live there..once you find him you can make him you're companion..and his name is Meeko too :D

if you have a house and you tell the stray dog to wait here in your house, after awhile when you go back to the city where ever your house is a message will pop up and saying that your dog returns to his home. so now when ever you go back to your house it will be there for ever, but the draw back is that you can't tell you to follow you anymore. another cool thing is that you are still able have another one follow you while you have your old one in your house.

Entered Dragonsreach in Whiterun and my Stray Dog was no longer following me. Now every time I try to talk to another Stray Dog or even try to buy a dog, I am unable to or "It seems you already have a pet." Can anyone help?

There are two dogs around there: the Stray Dog and Barbas. If you go into Falkreath and talk to the Blacksmith you can start a quest where you find Barbas. Barbas was the dog of one of those Daedra Princes, Clavicus Vile I think, and if you continue the quest that Barbas starts you on you can reunite the two together. If when you have to search for the Rueful Axe in the Barbas quest, you don't, Barbas will follow you until you do and he is invincible making him a good "companion".

im not so sure that it can die, i might be wrong but i was fighting two giants and i saw my dog get hit then fly up in the air and fall to its death but it was just knocked out it got up a couple seconds later

Killed an ice bear without even noticing the dog, and when i turn around it's just sitting there, staring at my face.

Then it ran between me and a Necromage and got squashed between 2 icestorms. Poor doggie =´(

I got the dog by random, when exiting a borrow or crypt, I was attacked by two dragons, and there it was a dog, had to protect the dog but it survived and just followed me... whitout me talking to it.

I found a stray dog once. At first I thought it was a wolf so I shot it from far off. When I got to it, I felt so bad I healed him after saving him from the two wolves. Then I told him to go home. I didn't know how to get him to follow me :(
