A 30mW green laser is easily visible, it can point out stars, but will destroy a CCD if you shine it in a expensive digital camera, and will destroy your eyes as well. People cant see red as easily. Why you can see just a 30mW green beam but not a 1W red beam. Even though such a high wattage red beam wont just kill your eyes, it will burn your skin.
