I can tell you as someone who has studied styles like kali, krav maga, and ju jitsu; that styles such as those which concentrate on immediate and powerful strikes and agressive grappling & joint manipulation work very well in situations where dropping the guy fast and hard is called for.

And on the note about speed training, all moves and shots are practised first with partners to get it right and then goes to pad and done at 100% speed and power. I have fought on challenge experts in one field or another including Krava Maga and have come to the conclusing that while they r all good to learn, mixed variety is always better. Although Krava Maga is mixed it is vaunerable to well travelled individuals that have knowledge of more styles especially brazalian styles.
While fighting for posession of a criminals firearm once I dropped the clip and used the clip to strike the side of the criminals head to great effect. I never learnt that move in a dojo but did it on instinct and it saved my life because I knew on reflex where to use the blunt object (clip) to strike to get best result. Sometimes in real life you don't have time to think, just to react.

I love this video. I already used krav maga 3 times during my life to defend myself. the first and the last time were only against one guy but the second time was against 3. that last time I broke the arm of one of the guys, so believe me, it works. It's also very easy to learn. At least, much easier than karate, kung fu and most other martial arts.
