  • As I see it, the cast is as follows:

    Lavender Sailor- David Rudman

    Green Male Sailor- Jim Martin

Fat Blue Sailor/Lavender Arab- Jerry Nelson

    Green Female Sailor- Noel MacNeal

    Pumpkin Arab- Dave Goelz

    Green Arab- Camille Bonora

  • the wet side the green muppet on the right sounds alitlebit of Finster, but Im not shore

  • American Imigrants on wet side

    Africa desert on dry side

  • It sounds to me like three out of four of the sailors are voiced by Richard Hunt, though I'm probably wrong, and I think he's the Pumpkin Arab as well.

  • Another clip I still remember from my childhood. Thanks for the memories!

  • I've always wondered if the "dry" segments are actually part of the lost footage from the epic movie Lawrence Of Arabia, and which David Lean *didn't* put back... :-)

  • This is actually from a Season 21 episode.

  • If thus was shown today it would probably start another war.

  • I would have posted this up but i missed the ending because I ran out of tape.

  • I suddenly have a strange urge to go out sailing on a rainy day. Guess I have more in common with those loopy sailors.

("Water's always welcome on the Good Ship Wet!" Perhaps they'd better rephrase that before TOO much water leaks in...)

  • The Arabian lavender Muppet was obviously performed by Jerry Nelson. He sounds like the Count.

  • I always loved this song growing up. Does anyone have the skit where the two Arabs and the camel return to sing the song, "C Drives Me Crazy!"?

  • Yeah, it's on here. Just google "Sesame Street C Drives Me Crazy!" Great vid.

  • I'm so glad this song is up. I requested it on a wet and dry cartoon a while back. I wondered if I'd ever see it again. Thank you, Guille.

  • The "dry" parts do go a bit far with the Arab stereotypes; then again, showing a group of otherwise ordinary Americans living in a desert wouldn't be as memorable. (The "wet" sailors talked like stereotypical Englishmen, too, in all fairness to the skit writers!)

  • Whoever said they were arabs anyway. They could be in any one of those countries with desert. Honestly, I think they are depicting north african nomads known as Bedouins. And yes they look exactly like that.

  • Well, I don't see anything even potentially offensive in the "dry" segment, but I know everyone seems to err on the side of idiocy these days, so I'm guessing this couldn't be aired today.

  • Yes.They still air 90's Sesame today.
