    wow, how many olympics have you been in? how many country records do you hold? those are 90* squats onto bench. If you go any lower, your knees and meniscus suffer hyper-mobility which can lead to premature tears/swelling. NO ONE starts or finishes any throw with the knees bent PAST 90* so why would you train to failure and cause a injury? If you could squat 670+ pounds with that kind of ease and have multiple throw records...maybe someone would listen to your opinion ;)

  • @astout76 I agree with everything except the knee-related injuries...dropping past 90 shifts the force off your knees and onto your hamstrings, stopping at 90 keeps it on your knees the whole lift. Try box squats to 90 and then a full Olympic squat (with proper form) and tell me which puts more strain on your knees.

    He was specific training though. Guy was a beast.

  • @electrofr34k You're right. They're box squats, which he used as an event specific power exercise. Considering he's #9 all time in discus and the National Record Holder for Sweden, I think it's safe to say what he did was fine.

    Claiming they're full squats is one thing, but doing an event training exercise is not wrong.

    there is a difference between bodybuilding and powerlifting....

    One is about to do light weights heavy and the other on to do heavy weights light.

  • I like the power curl at 2:20. It's rarely seen. Al Oerter did those, but usually for sets of at least eight and probably with less weight.

  • Ricky var 1.98 lång och vägde 140kg jämför det med Magnus Samuelsson som är 2m och vägde 150kg som mest. Hade strongman varit likadant 1984 som idag d.v.s användbar styrka skulle Ricky troligtvis varit i världstoppen! Dessutom är preppen mycket bättre idag än för 25 år sedan t.e.x fanns inte hgh (tillväxthormon) att tillgå.

  • @audiophil92 Looked insane and awesome, but really fucking stupid. He's pretty fucking strong, but he's using/teaching the wrong barbell holding techniques. You should NEVER do an exercise in which you can't see your hands. Furthermore, that "crunch" that he did is really dangerous. I'm surprised he hasn't totaled his rotator cuff.
